QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) Well if that doesn't sound a little weird! Why was he peeking.....oh never mind. He wasn't they were just talking about the guys who get out of the clubhouse the fastest. Anderson was saying that being in a clubhouse you see guys naked but Iguchi was gone so fast he never did see him naked.

Montas working with less velocity, more movement

Should be a fun watch Wednesday when he starts. -
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) We are talking about the same Viciedo that we could not wait to get rid of just last winter, right? I take his AAA numbers with a grain of salt. If the Sox thought there was something there he would have been called up. You're talking about the same Sox management who failed to trade Samardzija.

There's the difference between Ventura and Francona. Ventura leaves a reliever in who's getting bombed and instead of taking him out and giving up perhaps 1 run and keeping the game within reach , he leaves him in to give up 3 and the lead becomes insurmountable. Francona's guy gives up a walk, a legit double, and a bloop hit and he's out of there.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Oops I commented in the game thread, didn't see this. Lindor has to win it. He's too special. But Rodon ... my gosh what a talent. He's a fixture in our rotation for 15 years if he stays healthy. I can't understand how we don't win more with Sale, Rodon, Q and a Danks who was definitely an average big league starter this year. Robin had "some" talent to work with this year. We're a little lefthanded heavy though. I'd sign a veteran starter, one of those guys who get two year deals at 6-8 mill a year and trade one of our lefties. 15 years? He'll be gone as soon as he hits free agency with Boras as his rep .

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) It's the Harry Carey syndrome. Which you just exhibited by saying Carey when it's Caray.

I don't know what good replay is if they think just because a ball goes into the glove , it's an out. Lindor couldn't have dropped the ball on the transfer because it clearly showed it rolling out of the webbing.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) I have to agree. I'm not a fan of the wave, I usually just sit there and don't participate because I think it is inane. But I bring my kids, and if they want to do it, I will do it with them. If someone feels that makes me less of a fan, well, you know where you can stick it. Just enjoy being at a ball game. Yup there's a whole lot in this world to be angry about but people having fun in a wholesome way is not one of them. All you wave haters welcome to grumpy old manhood

Wow what a mess so far. Sanchez doesn't catch a throw on an attempted steal, Abreu error, Soto passed ball now a botched rundown plus 2 walks. Disgusting. -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) Avi still has a chance to be a really good player. This is his first complete season of ML ball. He'll get better next year (I hope). He already looks better than he did 4-5 months ago; power is increasing, too. Of course, I don't have any stats to back this up, just my perception. I was watching the game recently and they flashed something about Avi hitting .313 over the last 22 games. So I went to the Sox website and checked Avi over the last 30 and he was hitting 292. with a .353 OBP.

OK lets see where this team needs help. In no particular order OBP, power, defense. 1st order of business is Sox have to rid themselves of Adam LaRoche through retirement, trade or eating part or all of his contract. If by some miracle the Sox can get rid of him that opens up room to use Avi and Melky at DH or Micah Johnson. It also puts Trayce Thompson in the OF full time thus improving defense . If the Sox end up eating the contract then it will probably be the end of the Alexei era at SS since those contracts almost offset one another. Instead of going for a big gun like Arenado I'd see if the Nationals were willing to part with Anthony Rendon for 3B . He's had a down year because of injury and the Nats have used him more at 2nd base than 3rd but he looks like an outstanding 3rd baseman and has 20 HR power maybe more since he is only 25. I'd also like to get Stephen Vogt for catcher and backup 1st baseman . He's a LH bat with power and good OBP. Both Rendon and Vogt bring more power and OBP into the lineup. Rendon brings a good glove. Unknown to me how bad of a catcher Vogt is. Saladino can play SS and Sanchez 2nd. With the added bats and improved defense with Sally, Sanchez and Thompson there's a chance at a wild card without signing a big FA. Also gives another year to see if those guys can improve on offense.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) From the Balder chat http://www.baseballamerica.com/chat/?1441735443 Danny (Chicago): What's Trayce Thompson's ceiling? Ben Badler: I don't see an obvious role for him other than getting some occasional big league trials. Plus raw power but still an overaggressive, pull approach without great feel for hitting or OBP skills. Bad Badler hasn't seen his approach. He goes to right often and isn't overly aggresive to me at all.

David Robertson hasn't allowed a hit since August 16th.
