QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) It's not that the commercial itself is bad. It's that it's played at least once a commercial break... on almost every channel. So it's a Kansas City special kind of commercial ?

Numerous new prospect videos from Birmingham
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) Still too weak of an offense in my opinion if you have Saladino, Sanchez and Anderson at 2b-3b. To me, the ideal scenario is Anderson at SS, Sanchez at 2B, Saladino the utility player and Johnson traded. 3B will have to come from outside the org. 3rd baseman with power are pretty hard to come by these days. In the post steroid era I think we need to consider that a guy with raw power like Anderson should be given every opportunity to stick at whatever position he ends up best suited. Projecting offense now for that trio is extremely difficult. The Sox should be in "wait and see" mode right now. Give everyone another year to develop . If Anderson ends up being gifted offensively and with his speed having a good 3rd baseman could be right around the corner (2017). The Sox would have a slick fielding SS/2nd base combo with Sally and Sanchez and all cost controlled for many years. Then you hold onto Montas, Fulmer ,Rodon , Eric Johnson and hope 2 or 3 of them are rotation worthy by 2017. Again all young and cost controlled. Let LaRoche retire or contract run out .Avi gets another year to see if he can be that 25 HR guy . All of a sudden 2017 is looking pretty good . Young, fast ,good gloves , young rotation and cheap. Frankly if the Sox had taken that approach in the off season guys like LaRoche and Samardzija should have never been brought in and Shark should have been traded while he was cruising along. Last thing the Sox need is another " go for it" year in 2016. Danks and LaRoche contracts gone after next year so 2017 and beyond is where we all need to be looking. Eyes should be fixed now on OF's and catcher. Wait and see is boring as hell but names that should be moved need to be veterans that have numbers and name value like Melky, Robertson , Alexei.

winner, talk about it here
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 08:33 AM) He really has a chance to be great. I'm surprised he's not talked about more. It's that 1st awful impression he made for 2 months when everyone and their brother was saying he sucks , send him down, he's nothing but a utility guy, he'll never hit at this level . He was the flavor of the month when he was promoted then banished to offensive Hades in most peoples minds when he didn't produce right away. He isn't as bad as his 1st 2 months but probably isn't as good as his last 2. Hopefully the last 2 months are more indicative of his true talent level. If he continues to shine while the Sox build a winning team he will get plenty of attention but at this time of year it's all about the contenders .

Numerous new prospect videos from Birmingham
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) I think the question w Anderson is his fielding progression at SS. At some point soon, the FO needs to decide what his future position is. We do not want another 2nd baseman. If he develops some power and SS does not work out at least 3B could be a fall back. The young players in the organization at 2B should be adequate. Interesting suggestion of Anderson at 3rd maybe like Josh Harrison is for the Pirates. Saladino should get some reps with the Sox at SS then . Everyone has been suggesting Saladino is a utility guy but if his glove plays at SS and Anderson's at 3rd base offensively that would work better.

The conundrum in the infield
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 09:12 AM) Unless there is an upgrade Sanchez is the second baseman and that's fine, his defense helps the team but that's assuming you can find three or four real hitters to help the putrid offense. Anderson will be given the shot maybe next year, certainly in two years to become the regular shortstop. All I can say is he better be good. Saladino is a plus defender. He's perfect for the utility role, late inning defense. Nothing wrong with that. That's an important part of the team. Unless or until Johnson can stay healthy he's not even in the discussion. Mark Are you saying Sanchez offense is putrid ? For May and June that was true but not for July and August. I'm leaning towards the latter stats as being closer to his true self than the "adjusting to the league" numbers of May and June. He's been hitting .303 since July 1. .319 post All Star game (.845 OPS) I'll guestimate that he's somewhere around a .275, 30 doubles , 5-8 HR .725 OPS next year.

The conundrum in the infield
No idea how it plays out but i wouldn't mind seeing Saladino play some SS .He supposedly was thought of more highly than Sanchez there . I think it was Hahn who said Saladino was the 2nd best fielding SS behind Rondon. Hell ,even try Alexei at 3rd base. Increase their job descriptions, make them more valuable. It's been refreshing to see Sanchez and Saladino both playing so well . And the defense from them is outstanding. That can't be stated enough.

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) Montas has had a lot of 5 inning starts, but the Sox have been very conservative with his pitch counts. If you go through his game logs, you'll see he's frequently being cut off around 90 pitches. With a little more development and another 15 to 20 pitches, going 6 innings a start shouldn't be a problem. All this reliever talk is way too premature, especially with the way he's been pitching since June. That being said, he's definitely the pitching prospect I'm trying to use in a package for a position player this offseason. With Erik Johnson ready for a shot again and Fulmer potentially a mid-season call-up next year, Montas provides more value to us as a trade chip. Montas threw 6 scoreless innings yesterday with 6 K's , just 2 hits , 3BB ,99 pitches.

winner, talk about it here
QUOTE (staxx @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 06:37 AM) Lifetime milb .288 hitter and improved each time he was promoted after getting the hang of it. He could very well be a .265-.275 hitter in the bigs. I've been saying ,280 and I'm being conservative. Post AS Game he is the highest hitter in the lineup at .319 and since his dreadful May and June he's at .303.

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) Montas averages less than 5 IP per start. He'll be a reliever. Sometime I roll my eyes when reading assessments like this . It's just such an easy thing to say. Montas has come a long way from where he was when the Sox acquired him. The right thing to do is build his arm strength and if he follows the same developmental curve he's been on there are good things ahead . Trading him at this point would be foolish because return would be minimal. If he develops more he's a huge asset. Imagine Rodon, Fulmer , Montas , Eric Johnson , Sale , Quintana all being good and the leverage the Sox would have. 1 more year with all of them and see where they are. Failed starters can always be turned into relievers so lets keep them all starting.

Sanchez 2-4 2 doubles 4 RBI .. Batting .241 . Really remarkable considering where he was. .240 barrier gone ,shooting for .250 . Saladino 3 hits 2 RBI . Back at .255. Flowers 2-4 3 RBI

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 10:38 AM) It's 17 games where they allowed an opponent three runs or less and lost. Mark The White Sox have scored three or fewer runs in 64 of 118 contests (54 percent) and are 17-47 in those games.

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 08:37 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...ve-other-issues Of course they could. Would I like any starters traded ? No. How about prospects ? No let them develop . Who then who might bring someone decent back ? Robertson perhaps much like they did with Addison Reed only Robertson is not as cheap by a long shot. Not sure what the return might bring. Would be a bold thing to do but Sox might take a calculated risk that Jones can stay healthy and pitch effectively.

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche
Just so everyone can see what they said. I'm content with my assessment : Rather have seen the 4 rotating OF's to give Eaton more rest and keep Avi out of the OF more often but as long as he doesn't turn into Dunn 2.0 I'm good with them filling another need. I said earlier that I didn't trust Ventuna to sit LaRoche against LH pitching but he'll pretty much have to considering his age and badness against lefties. BTW La Roche means " the rock " in french . Bienvenue LaRoche smile.gif Also reminder to Hi8is . Dude you lost your bet with Andy the Clown.
