That was a very nice long stretch and scoop by Pito. -
QUOTE (buckweaver @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 05:26 AM) http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/20/sports/b...amid-chill.html Thanks for pointing that out. It was good.

He has to learn to take more walks. He does expand the zone . Expects way too many fastballs and looks to turn on them and has been outguessed a lot. Likes to extend his arms on the outerhalf of the plate and even outside the zone pitches away and up. Has looked better lately laying off the inside pitches. Have to be strikes to swing at those otherwise you get the weak grounders . Hge adjustment from Cuban league to ML but the guy can rake . He's very professional and mature so he should adjust well.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 08:55 PM) I did enjoy the game immensely (how many blowout wins did we have all of last year? not many the second half at least), but feel I must point out Adam the Great went 0-for-6. Ouch. He's still hitting over .300 though in his contract year. NO .269 now after the 0 for 6. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Starting pitching wasn't good, just lucky. The end result was good so therefore it was good. Rather be lucky then good as the saying goes. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 03:29 PM) Maybe Lindstrom needed the work. He threw 8 pitches and will be available tomorrow night. Had Semien leading off Doesn't teach calling for pop ups Yanked Johnson after 87 pitches Put Rienzo in the game Put Lindsrom in for the 9th. Some of the RV complaints today. Sox win 16-2. Yeesh. Why can't people just enjoy the game? Because Soxtalk is full of BIBEEP's (b****ing Internet Baseball Experts Expecting Perfection) -
Rienzo to Chi, Hanson to AAA, Paulino to DL?

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 11:51 AM) That gif of Rienzo hugging Gillaspie is hilarious. Gillaspie is straight face, jaw chilling. That's why I call Conor Dexter. -
QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 06:19 PM) Normally in a rebuilding year you hold on to guys but yeah, he's toast. Fastball ain't fastand the slow stuff just spins. I heard Hawk say on a pitch to Donnie Murphy that his fastball was 96.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Abreu is in a 1-25 right now. Not a bad day to give him off against Lester. He's been streaky, had that 1 for 17 earlier so his 2 bad streaks have him 2 for 42 . That is very bad. -
Worst Mistake of Robin's Young Career?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Leury joins Wise and Casper Wells as Sox position players in recent memory to have pitched. Frankly I was wondering what happens if it goes too many extras when he pulled Petricka and Downs after only one hitter. But as other have said 15 walks, who ya gonna call ? -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) I don't think the bullpen is great or anything but it's certainly not as bad as it has been. Things will get better as far as the pen goes. Wins r good. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:10 PM) So if De Aza continued to bat this way for the rest of the season, you'd expect his BABIP to be close to .138? No I'd expect him to be on the bench or in the minors. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 07:41 PM) Both! Considering there have been exactly 2 players since 1945 with a season BABIP of under .200, I think it's safe to say .138 is more to do with luck than lousy hitting. Speaking of BABIP, Tyler Flowers is now hitting .351 on the season with a .600 BABIP. That is not good. Watching his AB's it's safe to say it's lousy hitting. -

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) I don't care if he's hitting like he's swinging a feather, a .138 BABIP is more bad luck than anything wrong he's doing I'd rather look at line drive percentage. BABIP can be deceiving if you think it's unlucky if the guy is popping everything up , or routine fly balls or weak ground outs. A lousy BABIP sometimes means its just that lousy hitting. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 05:50 PM) 1) WCIU doesn't have whatever "definitive" angle you're talking about. That would be the angle you'd need, is directly down the first base line. Really, the guy who had the best angle there is the home plate umpire. 2) It's not if he was off the base, it's a matter of when. As long as that ball contacts the mitt before he's off, he's out. The majority of the time a guy comes off, everyone thinks he's safe, but in reality he actually had the bag at time of possession. At full speed I agree with #2 but not when it's slowed down and you can see everything clearly. Ball in mitt foot off base . I mean when the opposing teams announcers say it going to be overturned then its pretty damn clear. -

Well that's another one outside given to Peavy. NESN announcers saying it caught the outside corner" apparently" like they wondered why. -

QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) I don't believe that to be the case, but MLB even said that the NY office doesn't get all the angles of the replay and flat out got the call wrong in the BOS NYY game with regards to the call at 2B. All the office in NY has to do is watch DirecTV . How hard is that ? -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) There wasn't a replay that showed him safe. That one they showed from by the dugout, his foot was off the bag way after the ball was in his mitt, not sure what they were trying to show there. It's as likely that he was still on the bag when that was caught, replays didn't show anything different. You're seeing something the NESN announcers and the rest of us didn't apparently ?? The definitive replay was basically shot from somewhere behind the runner along 3rd base and he was clearly off the base. -
