  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) Did it again got a run , didn't give any up .
  2. Didn't give up runs after getting some . See they can do it
  3. Not sure Eaton was out at 2nd. High throw got tagged on the helmet which means his arms were extended on the head first slide.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 12:43 PM) How do we remove the Gillaspie toy from the Ventura toybox? You just want Davidson in your toybox. I swear Gillaspie is like the most hated Sox. Abreu gets a hit its like" hell yea." Gillaspie drives in a few runs and its like " who's up next we can cheer for " in the game threads.
  5. No wonder atheletes stick to cliches. Anything slightly controversial or out of the ordinary and the guy takes a beating.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 07:44 AM) It's most likely just a sprain of the AC joint, a capsulitis (jam) of the glenohumeral joint or a subacromial bursitis. If this is the case it's no more than a week or two on the conservative side. He didn't move it so it's impossible to know if there was an injury more serious such as a SLAP lesion or bicep tendon injury. Those are unlikely but possible when you force the humerus straight up into the acromion. He did land on his left elbow so the humerus did jar that shoulder joint hard. Very hard to control dives depending on the angle your trying to make the catch but should probably try extending his arms and landing mostly on his pecs.
  7. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) Coming in to the season, I thought this is a team that could be competitive- a combination of the youth, some faith in the Front Office, and watching some teams bounce back from a bad year quicker than I'd expect them to. If I'm wrong, I could definitely live with a textbook rebuilding year as long as they sprinkle some games like this in from time to time on their way to a nice draft pick. Just a beautiful night where the future arrived early.
  8. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) Abreu snapped a what? 1 for 17? Yep
  9. Great to see Sale using the changeup more than the slider so far this year.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 05:32 PM) It isn't that difficult. On a side note where was your Come Sale Away ? I am so disappointed in you. Sale on Sale on Saler.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Maybe I am spoiled by 15 years of Paul Konerko, but that is a play a 1B should make in his sleep. Just cuz you say it doesn't mean it's true . Let's see you do the splits and still catch that throw in your sleep
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) They were the worst defensive team in the league. I don't think Hahn's plan was to NOT address that. Meaning bats took priority . Eaton is the only newcomer who you can say might be good defensively.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 03:42 PM) #1, it is a play a first baseman should make in his sleep. #2, it was one of many plays he hasn't been able to dig out, and cost the team outs. Bunch of nervous Nellie's . Throw sucked end of story. He hasn't looked good there I'll say that but too many good things happening today for it to be worrisome. This team wasn't exactly built for defense . The goal of the off season was get some bats.
  14. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) It's great to see runs scored other than the long ball. Those will come And what's up with b****es getting on Abreu when Alexei had all day to throw that ball on target ? Bad throw. Abreu's mistake was minor compared to the throw. He could've got his foot on the home plate side of 1st base .
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Nice to see the team adding runs late. Awesome game . 4 late runs without a HOMER . Doh ! Sweet Swingin' Conor Gillaspie
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 05:11 AM) http://nowiknow.com/take-me-out-to-the-mayhem/ This is today's offering from a regular email list I am on and usually filled with some very interesting items from around the world. Rarely do I know much about the event, person, item, etc. I was a huge Steve Dahl fan, I wanted to go to the game but it was sold out when I decided to buy tickets, something that had never happened to me before in all my years as a Sox fan. This is a rarity in that the Veecks seem to share some of the responsibility. Usually uit is the Stever who takes the hit. I was there with a brother and my father. My younger brother ran on the field. My dad and I did not. Yes I hated disco much like how I hate rap. Rock n' Roll will never die even if it is on life support.
  17. QUOTE (vegandork @ Mar 31, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Which is brilliant, because he can certainly handle the job. Worst case is he gets traded for a useful piece, best case we're competing and he's a large part. He did what you like to see from a closer . He came in throwing strikes. I think the 1st 3 hitters were all down 0-2 in the count.
  18. Sweet Swinigin' Conor Gillaspie has to get a mention for his gapper , a walk and very good baserunning .
  19. All right !! Sweet swingin' Conor Gillaspie hitting 3rd !
