are you retarded????? Honestly, how can you argue for a rotation with the best pitcher in this decade being worse than a rotation with John Garland. Come on man, its time to give up on this argument and move on....dont worry, we can look the other way

yes, but i am willing to eat alot of her salary

One idea for improving pitching staff
babybearhater replied to babybearhater's topic in Pale Hose Talk
oh im sorry, I didnt realize you spoke to him daily, my bad by the way, its was his approach to the hitters that was changed. Bring up some tape of him in the playoffs, and check out his windup, arm angle and set position -
You are right, we shouldnt change the ballclub, instead of trading a flopping prospect, and a slow 1b who has reached his peak in value, and will be gone after next season anyway, and has a more than capable backup, for an perrenial all-star a cy young award winner, and the most dominant pitcher of the last 10 years. You are right, that would be very silly, why would we want to improve the club

and that explains the facination with bad arguments. I loved Herbert Perry, but I love the sox more. And great baseball players are better than busts and good ones any day of the week

So you are saying we should fire US cellular field????? Just because it is a hitters park does not mean that is the sole reason that our arms cant seem to develop under Cooper's coaching. Im pretty sure that, even in the NL, and at great hitters park, the cubs staff has turned in some pretty good numbers. :fthecubs As I said before, we have had almost 10 pitchers try a spot in the rotation and fail on our team. Garland, Wells (David), Koch. Loaiza actually got worse the longer he worked with our staff, then went to the yankees, who changed his delivery and his arm angle after his bad starts with the same technique he was using with us. After they changed his approach, he pitched very well in the playoffs. This is just a recent observation, Coop has had plenty of time to work with young arms which were very highly regarded by many other coaches and scouts around the league, and somehow only Buerhle has developed. Kinda makes you wonder how everyone can be wrong everytime -

you can go ahead and find that list then, but if they are making less money than Garland is making then I wouldnt consider it a valid argument. Especially on a team that has a limited budget. If a team such as the yankees or red sox, cubs or anaheim have 4th and 5th starters that make 4 million a year, its because they can afford it. We cant afford a 3 million dollar fifth starter who will not win more than 12 games during the year. On a team with our payroll, and what looks like an improving 1, 2 and 3 starter, all you need out of your fith is 10 wins. And that can be had at alot less money than Garland makes. -
maybe we should make the trade then

BTW, those numbers are all under COOP regardless or where they pitched. How about some away from coop/under COOP numbers, because if thats what we are comparing, your examples dont mean a thing -

and, examples of these 3 million dollar 3rd starters that he compares to??????????? Back it up, or its just your opinion -
and how many of those listed put up CY young type numbers last season. And how many have they won. And how many world series games have they played in. Thats like going to a steak house and saying, well this meat is good, but there is a burger king available right over there that is the same

worth the 3 million dollars he is being paid???? hmmm if I could list 5 pitchers who won more games with a better ERA and are getting paid less, would that maybe make your comment look as terrrible as it is....I think so Zambrano-450k 16-8 2.75 Marquis- 525k 15-7 3.71 Suppan 1 mill 16-9 4.16 Westbrook- 925k 14-9 3.38 Carpenter- 500k 15-5 3.46 I could keep going if you want. He is pretty terrible for a 1-4 starter, and overpaid for a fifth starter OUT -
I could live with that
-
dont forget that in every aspect of the game, he should of won the cy young after this past season, if his team would score more than 1 run. Not exactly just another FA pitcher
-
honestly, do we have to post this same lineup paragraph on every board that is hot???? We have all seen it, realize it will never happen, just move on, thanks
-
and so does this current sox team before another white flag trade. Maybe they sign delgado with some more flexibility in the budget

Honestly, even if he is brought in for just a special consultant role, that would help at least a little. -
Dont worry buddy, Foulke has had enough of it too....his world series ring is probably pretty heavy and is hard on his arm.

I dont agree with the Ozzie situation, but as far as the other two go, i agree. I think that alot of the arms we have had, should have performed better in the time that we have had them. It seems like we are always waiting for that guy to just turn the corner, and they never do. We are consistantly scoring almost the most runs in the league like the third season in a row, yet cant keep the opposing teams from winning. Not to harp on a fluke situation, but did anyone seem Esteban in the playoffs??? He had a new windup, new set position and a new arm angle, and was consistantly throwing accuratly, and with 5 more MPH than when with us this season. When he left the sox he was losing mph and losing accuracy as well as movement. It look the yankees less than a month to figure out his problems and correct them in time for the playoffs. Yet it took COOP almost half the season to make us get rid of him. Not that I dont like the trade, but seeing the result of actual coaching, it amazed me why he never tried that before. Please, get rid of COOP -
This is just a thought. But through watching the past few pitching prospects, Koch, Jose, Freddy, come to the sox and then perform not how they were expected. As well as seeing Garland, who obviously has some talents not pitch well. I think that maybe the problem with the pitching woes could be solved in house....Possibly fire Don Cooper. I know he is popular, and a really good guy, but this might be the time to see what someone else can do.

Another fallback plan undiscussed
babybearhater replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Pale Hose Talk
once again, there is no reason to sign a 5th starter at 4 million dollars a year, when we dont even reallyhave a top of the rotation starter. Signing pitchers just to sign them is a move only done by teams who have money to burn, which we dont. If you are going to spend money, you need to sign a difference maker...bad idea and will never happen -
I agree, this will never happen, not in a million years. Bad rumor
-
wow you must be an expert. The family that sat next to me in my season ticket package went to almost as many games as I did. But at the end of the season she was still having problems with the stealing rule. Guess going to games makes you an expert huh........Liability=errors Letting balls drop is alot better than missing balls, missing the cutoff man, taking bad routes to balls, and throwing out more runners than a majority of other players with the same offensive numbers doesnt look so bad to me..Guess we should sign Taguchi because of his prowess in left field, and forget about the other facets of the game.
-
so in your words, an injury prone speedy 2b project..........sounds alot like willie harris 2 me....didnt know we wanted some more of that. I saw this guy down the block the other day who was running from a dog, had some speed, probably couldnt hit a ball, but it looks like he could get to the base if he had the chance. (maybe he is a FA)

why does everyone have such a hard on for hairston??? I dont get it. I am not sure if it is just one guy who replies to every thread about how they want him so bad, but it seems that on every topic someone brings up getting Jerry Hairston He only played half a season this year with decent numbers. BUt is a career 261 hitter with terrible power numbers. Not exactly a great RF replacement. Will someone please school me on your thinking, because im beginning to think there is one guy out there with 5 logons trying to get someone to say that picking up hairston is a great idea
