Best Pitching Staff in the AL Central
babybearhater replied to Whitesoxfan56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
he didnt win the cy young the year before, and never did I say he was a fluke. Its like the madden jinx, not always true, but has some validity. Nice try for an argument though -
maggs was lost most of last season anyway, and we were fine. Losing Carlos brought us our first true lead off hitter since lance johnson, and two great arms for the bullpen. BTW Vizquel was never considered top shelf, and Clement's stats werent as good as Duque, and his were i nthe national league

Best Pitching Staff in the AL Central

Well heres the good news. Has anyone heard of the Cy Young Jinx. Almost every pithcer who wins a Cy young experiences some fall out the year after. Im not saying in every case, but it is very common. See our friend frmo the blue jays last year -
hahahaha, spoken like a true 8 year old who knows little to nothing about what it takes to win this division. We have the best defensive outfield in the division if not the entire american league. Not to mention, this will easily equal the offensive production of last years outfield, if not improve it with the stolen bases. Therefore the outfield is better. The pitching staff has improved 100 percent over what it was before. We have added two solid bullpen guys as well as solidified a rotation which hasnt seen a solid fifth starter in 8 years. We now have FG JC and OH for a whole season!!! along with proven winning MB and project JG. With the bullpen able to eat more quality innings and having a solidified rotation the pitching has improved dramatically. The infield has only lost one player, who was not only a defensive liability, but also an On base nightmare. The infield could be improved with one more signing, but for now, lets call it at the same. So if the pitching improved, and the defense and outfield is improved, we will win more games. There is more to life than big name bug money players, and right handed homerun hitters. You can cry about RJ all you want, but we would have gotten ripped off in that deal, as well as for Vasquez. And if we signed Clement we would have no money to pursure another infielder, and a possible batter for the 2 hole. So you are out, O'doyle rules OUT

does your post even make sense. Nope
-
he looks just like the teacher in the Karate Kid, Cobra Kai do or die!!!

I couldnt give two s***s what you want anyway. This team is improved from the team that missed the playoffs the last two years. Our pitching has never been this solid in the past 5-10 years. We needed a lead-off and we got one. We wanted a defensively superior outfield, and we have one. Cry me a river all you want, I want wins, you want fireworks (for hr's) go to indiana and buy yourself some bottle rockets if that helps. I'll be comfortable in my season ticket seats..

this is a great point for two reasons. One, it will be smart to limit his pitch count much more than the other arms, because of his age and history. And Two, Ozzie can do this because KW went out in the offseason and made our bullpen 100 times stronger than before, which will help not only keep Duque fresh, but some of the other "tired" arms as well.

I dont know why everyone is feeling bad for willie. f*** Willie, he was a terrible lead-off hitter, cant hit alot of pitching, and doesnt get on base very easily. He is a back-up IF and pinch runner. That is going to be his role for the rest of his career, even if he leaves us for another team. I dont care if he doesnt like it, we tried him last year, gave him his shot, and he did nothing with it. Peace Willie

hahaha, just spinning now. You got shot down

why has everyone resigned to the fact that El Duque is terrible and has nothing left. I believe he carried the yankees half of the season last year, and ended with a sub 4 ERA only losing I think 3 games. Thats not bad considering it was his first year back in the bigs. He was their ace, when they had nobosy else. he could very well be our third starter.

I concur, with a few more pieces, I really like the direction that we are going

WSCR 670AM, MLB.com: "El Duque" agrees to deal
babybearhater replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Spoken like someone who knows nothing about the game. This roster, if completed with this signing and possibly another IF'er is drastically improved over last years. We are going a new direction, with more pitching, a solid bull pen, and some actual speed and left handed bats. You couldnt find a better defensive outfield, as well as faster outfield than we have now. We have an actual lead off hitter..a proven rotation all the way to the bottom from the beginning of the season, and actual arms in the bullpen. The bullpen was one of their real weaknesses last year, and now we have drastically improved it. -
how much do you wanna bet that by tomorrow we are back in this deal???
-
did polanco pay you guys to talk about him. Either one of these guys would present such a large upgrade, its hard not to jump on it. Please please sign an IF
-
how could you call the offseason uneventful, its not over, and nobody saw the trade coming with Carlos to the brewers. Cry all you want, but there are still moves to be made, and he is not going to make his intentions public. If he did, someone on this board would have forseen the bullpen moves that were made (and they made us tons better) and spod coming. Midol for everyone!!
-
count me in on miller, he was a workhorse until last year, he wouldnt be a bad guy to take a chance on in the rotation. Dont forgeot he was like 34-12 in the past years before this one
-
seattle has too much money tied up in their roster right now. They would have to get rid of some salary to bring in Perez, Anaheim is in the same situation with Washburn.
-
he also said that he likes the bullpen the way it is, and would not trade and key parts of that staff
-
stop it with polanco. im beginning to think he is on this board
-
that is really a great point. He could easily be a pitcher in the middle or bottom of the rotation that could eat up some serious innings. Sign him
-
Word is... that the sox are willing to match offers that are extended to clement, and he would sign based on the location in chicago. he stated that he loved chicago, and didnt want to leave the city
-
Why should I be excited about Odalis?
babybearhater replied to AddisonStSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
AMEN, how many people predicted the SPOD trade correctly???? therefor the rest of us dont really know anything about what is going to happen trade or free agent-wise, because more than 75 percent of the rumors were false, and nobody on this message board could predict what is going to happen. -
this polanco nonsense has got to stop. And second, why would you ever put Roward, who is arguably on of our top three hitter, batting that low in the order. Dont think so. One of those pitchers would be great to eat up some innings, but as far as getting them cheap.....third starters are going for 10 million a year these days, and both of them could be considered that.
-
no, rowand is going to be in left, PO will play center. Not sure why you think that SPOD is not better at center
