  1. Kirby Puckett, in fact he was a first ballot HOF'er
  2. IM waiting for JUGGs to put his money where his terrible opinions are............
  3. apparently JUggs is 50 percent positive that it will be Ben Davis
  4. wow dude wow. You are saying that a career 300 hitter, who we spent 2.5 million on, who was picked up for the sole purpose of starting for the team, who has KILLED the sox in the past, who is known to work well with pitchers, who has more major league experience than the bench warmer, is going to be beat out by Ben Davis-an after thought in the Garcia trade?? That is arguing for the sake of arguing, or you just wanted somehwere to put the words Poo-hah. In fact, if you want to make a wager on it, since you are 50 percent sure Davis will start, those are pretty good odds, I will bet you on this situation. In fact, if you would like, we can bet some tickets. How about cubs/sox tickets to the winner??? put your money where your mouth is
  5. sorry i choked on my lunch when you said Davis will beat him out of the starting position. I didnt know that you started drinking so early in the afternoon. Wow, wow, wow
  6. this message is from the twins board: I think this finally takes a little sting out of the Garcia trade for the Southside Cry Babies. They now have a legitimate catcher, which they lost last year. Hopefully all the negativity down there will bring out the worst in AJ's play. That being said, AJ is a difficult guy to root against. I thought he was a really good player with the Twins, and as Jan noted, those 10-plus pitch at bats were great to watch on a first pitch swinging team. AJ's antics, and how much he got into his opponents kitchen was worth some wins against those babies, and I don't like the history of former Twins playing against us. I much prefer them in the NL. Cripes, even Mark Redman has dominated us. Koskie stays and this is a non-issue, but I think the b****Sox just got better. It will take a healthy year from Mauer, and production from the 3-5 in the rotation to keep pace.
  7. Bo jackson's walk off was the best. The last day of Old comiskey was awesome, but real sad. The best one lately was this season in the pouring rain, when Paulie hit a bomb before they called the game, and right as he hit it, there was a flash of lightning. It was like I was watching the natural, I will never forget that moment.
  8. Its hard to believe that KW turned Carlos into Vizcaino, SPODS, El DUQUE and AJ, fantastic way to work KW!!!!! I think we have quietly had one of the best offseasons I have seen in several years, and probably one of the best in the AL. If we sign Iguchi, we will have taken our lineup and plugged almost every offensive blackhole, and absolutely improved our defense 100 percent. Unbelieveable. On a side note AJ is arb eligible next season, so technically he is locked up as well
  9. thats not the way they are acting
  10. The Dodgers are negotiating with free agent Esteban Loaiza. They only plan to sign him if the Shawn Green trade goes through. The arrival of Loiaza would leave just one rotation spot for Edwin Jackson and Kazuhisa Ishii, assuming that Brad Penny is healthy. Jan. 6 - 11:42 am et
  11. someone lock this thread before the kiddies get out of control
  12. I've said it before and I will say it again. My cousin lives across the street from Mags in Burr ridge, he was seen not too long ago still using crutches to get around. if he is ready for a workout, I will eat my season tickets. f*** the cubs..they wont get him anyway, wait till houston loses beltran and offers that money to mags so that Clemens can stay.
  13. I honestly dont think we look that much better on paper when you compare players. I think we have to get hot at the end, or we will be in second place all the way through the season.
  14. AMEN on the T Graffinino line, I wish he was still here.
  15. You can replace him with a box of balls, and another massage table for all I care. We are paying him, in theory to fill in for awhile for Frank, thats it. He is not starting, and in fact probably wont play much outfield at all. You can DH konerko, start Gload at first, and I will just as happy seeing Gload get base hits, than watch Carla strike out on his emergency swing.
  16. Kind of like paying Carl everett money to sit as well????
  17. Go to a real school that isnt in the middle of nowhere, and actually has places to hang out. WIU is for amateurs
  18. Hold the phone. This is actually a pretty good idea. We can see now that Houston is going to be after a big switch hitting outfielder after they lose Beltran. How about Carla for them??? s***, I will take a little money and a minor leaguer for him, and it would clear alot of payroll for us.
  19. he mentioned possibly retiring over a year ago. he is old, end of story
  20. I am willing to start the bring Norm Chow to chicago petition. He would dominate if we brought him in here. Look what he has done to a program who has dismal in previous years. Now he has back to back national championships. Both times demolishing apposing defenses.
  21. I agree that most teams would have him as a starter instead of just an arm in the pen. BUT in my opinion, he would be the MOST valuable as a closer. I think he would be lights out, and would stay healthy all year, which would make him more valuable OVERALL.
  22. I dont think that they would keep 3 catchers on the roster if they sign AJ, Burke will be back down to the little league
  23. I dont know how you could possibly think of green as a #4 hitter. His numbers are that of a 6 or 7 hitter at this point. I know the dodgers always wanted his power numbers to be better than they were, but his season last year was pathetic for a cleanup
