so you basically gave me an example of a contract which was not safe, because the team could no longer afford the pay because it was killing the rest of their payroll. So in summary you proved my point. At this point in baseball, these long term, big money contracts, Sosa, Juan Gone, A-rod, and even Manny was non-tendered are not a good idea for the organization in any way, shape or form.

per roto Blue Jays signed LHP Scott Schoeneweis, who had been the White Sox, to a two-year, $5.2 million contract. Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi just doesn't seem to get the bargain part of bargain hunting. Schoeneweis is getting 95 percent of what Steve Kline did and he doesn't have half the track record. Still, it's not like it's our money. As long as he doesn't ever set foot in the rotation, he should be helpful as someone who can be used as a specialist and go an inning or two at a time when necessary. Jan. 11 - 3:07 pm et

yeah, but I feel that somehow he will not live up to expectations, he has never been one to fare well under pressure.

this is coming from someone who has said that KW improved the team-here is a quote from your previous post "Speed? : Improved with Pods Rotation? : Improved with El-Duque Defense? : Improved with Dye. Hitting? : Improved with healthy Dye, Thomas, & AJ. Relief? : Improved with Hermannson a lot, Luis a little. Meanwhile the Twinks lost Koskie, Guzman, Mientcy. Re-vamping their IF in 2005. What's the probabilities the new guys will be as good or better D than the old ones? If you were a betting man you would say the CWS improved over last yr's injury plagued team at the same time the Twinks got weaker. That should give the CWS a nod in the div race. " Looks like you let him off the hook already Juggs

Its a great article, but it really makes me think. I am not sure if Carlos can succeed in the cleanup role, nor as being the "man" in the lineup. i always thought that Carlos hit his best in the #2 hole when there were big bats behind him. Im not sure if he will clear 30 bombs this season or even bat 300, it is yet to be seen however.

reading is fundamental, I dont think that anyone offered all of those players for Vaz, in fact, I believe that alot of the people posting only said Garland and Bynes or SPODS. So in no way is that our best prospect, now any homegrown best player (arow), so I am not sure that your point makes sense.

I wouldnt put much stock in the win share report, especially when we are making a new batting order, changing postitions, and changing leagues. There is lie, ugly lie, blatant lie, and statistics.

this wristband thing is getting out of control, even stupid michigan fans have them now. Played out

I couldnt figure out which one of your 8 posts to quote. But if it is true that Vasquez does not want to play in the AL, and FLA wants him, why dont we turn him around to FLA, and pick up AJ and Castilla????? problem solved.
-
I dont want to beat a dead horse, but I agree with the trade, but I would rather trade SPOD than Byrnes. Byrnes plays harder I think and would be a better addition to our team. If we could somehow trade garland and SPOD to AZ for Vasquez, that would work out for everyone. They would get a speedy center fielder and a west-coast born pitcher with some promise, and we would get an even better arm for our rotation, and still have our center fielder.

good thing you made a whole new thread about it
-
Can you say trade bait??? All kw needs is for this guy to start putting up some more solid numbers in our system, and he will be dealt in the middle of this season for a vet.
-
Find me a long term deal with which the team was happy, or can can be called "safe".
-
Maybe spending more time around Arow's work ethic, and Spods base stealing expertise will allow him to grow in those aspects of the game.
-
I just hope he doesnt end up with the cubs, that would piss me off, especially if he ever returns to form.
-
For some reason, even thought I dont like him, I think that Willie may succeed better with this lineup around him. I dont think he felt natural in the lead off role, and I think with some more players around him, and another season, he may improve on not only his base stealing, but his hitting as well. his defense, as far as I am concerned, is good enough if not better than most of the guys out there. Lets see what this lineup will get us

Im with you, and I would join the club, if it wasnt for that horrible Illini Orange nerd signature. Frank has to be a favorite, he is probably the best white sox player we will EVER see in our lifetime.
-
I agree, I think they are a few players away from being a really good team. You cant have obvious holes and question marks in a lineup that you think would win the world series. All they need is a playoff birth, then one or two solid free agents, and a meshing of the team, and you can make a run.

It Depends How You Define "Quiet"...

I like how they state that in THE CELL, you need offense and nothing mroe. This shows how ignorant some sports writers are when it comes to the fine points of baseball such as defense and speed. -
Score just reported Sox sign AJ

Back up what you say, you said after ST that BD would be the starter, you even gave yourself better than 50 percent chance of winning the bet, or you could just admit that you were talking out of your ass. There is absolutly no competition for the role, in fact, I would think that there would be more compeitition for the backup role between Burke and BD. -

so basically, you are trying not to back up your stance that Ben Davis has more than a 50 percent chance of being our starting catcher. You can just admit you were wrong, and be an admirable poster, or you can continue vomitting crap onto this topic. There is NO WAY that BD will beat out AJ, never in a million years. Take my bet!!!!! I have season tickets in section 144, and they would be good seats to watch cubs/sox if you win -

SO instead of rambling on out stats that dont matter, and your stupid backpedling, how about you take credit for saying the Davis has a 50 percent of starting, and bet me..honestly...why would you waste the time in saying something like that and not be able to back it up. Come on man, e-mail me your info, and the winner gets complementary cubs/sox tickets this year. There is no use writing something that you dont mean. Otherwise admit that you were talking out of your ass. -
how does wanting to play for TEX have to do anything with playing for the SOX. I cant even fathom the connection, I guess they are both in the AL, I guess that works. And he is not signing beneith his value, in fact his nagotiations with baltimore suggests he is going to get a little over market value. The hypothetical math is also off, unless we are playing xbox. There is no way this is going to happen, so forget about it.
