Dont make me start this argument again. First of all, Wood has never won 14 games, in his career, so he cant be thought of as a dominant pitcher. Prior, even when he came back from injury, was not the superstart that SI and every ignorant cubs fan said he was going to be. And maddux is still in the process of checking himself into an assisted living facility. Zambrano is dominant, but will probably go elsewhere when he goes into arbitration. Cubstalk.com is on another link, so have fun with that. Without clement in their rotation to carry them like he did at the beginning of the year, I would put them top five

If this pipe dream actually happens, and the sox pick up Randy Johnson, does that make the sox have the best rotation in baseball???American League?? If not, who does??? I

what would you trade for pierre that would make sense to the Marlins???? And I hope the answer is not Konerko

This looks like another situation where we are goin to give our young guys away again!! yea

I thought it was something like that, I thought Williams only did it once or twice, either way he is an elite player, and I expected an argument for him not to be in the hall of fame only to come from sammy sosa supporters. He is HOF, and there is no question thanks for the correction qwerty

2 time MVP 2 time MVP. This shouldnt even be a debate, his numbers are ridiculous. I believe that he had over 100 walks, 30 HR's 100 RBI's and hit over 300 7 years in a row. I believe the only other person to do that in consecutive seasons was Ted William who did it only once. I may be off on those numbers, but it is something like that.

plus he cant walk,he has had secret surgeries, changed agents, this is alot of trouble to get him some money. Something is wrong with him, and this is his last gasp, have fun on the DL for the next 2 years, I never thought maggs would be the next griffey

By the way, the teams featured on your sig could be the most random group of teams to cheer for of all time. Not harping on you, it just caught my attention.

I'd do LEE and Garland, but I would try and leave Sweeney out of anything. He is one of our only hopes of building the team within the organization, which alot of people on this board are very eager to see.

the best part about working at a bar is seeing them come in and bring home 20 year old girls with them. Their wives probably wouldnt like to see that!! especially when some of the girls have more than expected down there!!!! hahahah go sox

I agree, there is alot of stuff going on this winter. The Bears may suck, but theres alot to watch thats fun. Take a look at their D-line, most of them are barely old enough to drink. Thats some serious building blocks there. As well as a young secondary. A great running back has finally come to town, and maybe a young receiver in the draft, and we are competing next year. As for the bulls, im very pumped to see there draft picks play. Gordon and Heinrich are going to be exciting and Deng is very explosive. At least one team in chicago is developing young talent.
-
I dont even want to hear someone say get rid of Thomas. He is the best player that the sox have ever had, and his whole carerr has been played here. He is probably the best hitter in chicago history. Getting rid of him would be against everything that I believe in for sports and for the sox. Its on line with JR killing the bulls after the 6th title. I dont even want to see him in another jersey. He doesnt deserve that

What the A's and Cubs Have Taught Me...
babybearhater replied to CWSGuy406's topic in Pale Hose Talk
WAH WAH WAH cubstalk is on another board. How many homeruns did the cubs hit this year?? Aquiring Nomar should have eased their pain???? But Houston lost 2 starting pitchers and aquired one player, who immediately pushed the team to a losing streak. And they dumped managers. Yet in the end, it was their bullpen and pitching along with some cluth END OF THE SEASON WINS that helped them take it. Its probably fun splitting hairs, but face it, the reason the cubs sucked was not their starting rotation being hurt. In fact Rusch was more effective than Prior and Clement. And by the way Perez 15 day disabled list from July 17 through June 26. hmm seems like he was hurt to me. And penny only started 24 games, only 2 more than Kerry Wood, not to mention most of those were with FLA. He only started 3 with LA, pretty tough when he was brought it for that reason. It was a nice try,but check out the facts. Bullpens win games and win playoffs, espeically wins games leading to the playoffs, which are much more imortant than the middle of the season, see: sox last year, cubs this year, oakland this year, and most of all HOUSTON. heres a link so you can read something of espn.com, which would probably help you out even more on this subject. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...ster&id=1890083 and one more for you www.cubsbandwagon.com OUT -
What the A's and Cubs Have Taught Me...
babybearhater replied to CWSGuy406's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Houston- pettite, wade Miller Yankees-mussina Dodgers-Penny, Nomo, perez Cardinals-carpenter Angels-washburn, Sele All pitcher injuries on playoff bound teams WAH WAH WAH WAH, cubs fans can cry on another board. Every team has injuries, especially to their pitchers, just nobody cries like the tribune and the cubs fans. Face it, they just sucked, their bullpen sucks, their hitting is terrible, and their fans are idiots. :fthecubs -
Sorry, I know im going to attack the part of your quote which probably has the least to do with this thread. But in my mind, the cubs got ripped off in that trade. The cubs were a better team without Nomar in the line up. The were 500 with him in the lineup and I believe were 7 games over with him not in it. Someone can find some stats on that one. Also, the main part of their demise was the terrible offense, but also the weak bullpen, which they weakened even more by trading a young pitcher, with some serious stuff. So they basically rented a player for a few months, who actually hurt their chances of winning. And I know this is some serious speculation, but. Boston before Nomar---a disaster, after Nomar--almost taking the division. Cubs before Nomar, first place hopes, easy wild card birth. After Nomar, sitting at home watchin the playoffs. just something to think about

Paulie's game ending bomb to left field in the pouring rain, and as he hit it lightening went off in the backround, almost like in the NATURAL. It was awesome. Oh, and the fights with the cubs fans at the cell, I love how only they get kicked out.
-
so is jerry manuel--hahahaha
-
no offense to your opinion, but I think that the cubs have long had the worst broadcaters in the history of the game. Their knowledge of the game in progress along with the terrible rambling on about nothing, has long annoyed me when hearing a cubs game. If I have to hear that another cubs batter "hammered" the ball into shallow center into the glove of the fielder im going to puke. Every out that they make, they were "robbed", I believe that one of the reasons that cubs fans are the most ignorant and overreative fans in the league is because of their sportscasters. :fthecubs
