  1. I dont think that he was given even a mention for that. I thought it was Pedro, Schilling, Santana, Rivera, and Mulder??????????????????????
  2. Yeah, I agree that Carlos is also underrated, he has improved him game so much in the last few years, its almost astonishing. I remember thinking about three or four years ago that he was the most worthless fielder I have ever seen. He has worked so hard that he is almost flawless. BUt I just think that MB just hasnt gotten much respect either.
  3. This might start a beehive of an argument, but we dont start these threads to agree with each other. I am going to disagree, and say he isnt even the most underrated sox player. I think that Mark Buehrle is the most underrated player. He has consistantly led the league in innings pitched over the past few seasons, has been, at times, the only bright light in sox baseball, and definatley the most dependable. And, is killer away from our home ballpark which has helped us countless times in stopping losing streaks, and getting the ballclub going. I think that everytime we address which is our MVP, and whatnot, nobody ever brings Mark's name into the mix, focusing more on offensive players. But I think over the past few years, that the most consistant player, and the most valuable is Mark Buehrle, and for that I think he is the most underrated player.
  4. So if Kerry Wood was better, than he would have won 15 games??? thats exactly my point. Even on a terrible last place team, a good pitcher can win 15 games. On a decent to good team, Wood cant even achieve that. And clement has the high ERA and the terrible win percentage on a playoff contender, in the national league, no thanks
  5. BTW, no more blaming it on offense. Randy Johnson is on the s***tiest team ever, and he still won 15 games this year.
  6. Did you read that out of the chicago Tribune, or did a cub fan take your keyboard away. Dont blame in on his offense. Maddux is older than wrigley field, and he has surpassed expectations. And wood will never win that many games because he is overrated and injury prone. In the NATIONAL League his ERA is that high. He is a good pitcher, but in no means the ACE of that staff. And that doesnt change that fact that Clement is still the worst pitcher on that staff. In the American League, he would be a fourth maybe a fifth starter at best
  7. yeah I know the pitchers, Zambrano is good, Maddux has pitched over his head, Wood has never won 15 games, and prior has been iffy at best this year. I prefer not to listen to the papers who claimed that Kerry Wood and Mark prior would be competing for the CY young this year, and see how they actually are. Clement and his career 4.34 ERA can stay right where it belongs, in the national league hidden behind some decent pitchers and one ACE (zambrano) because there is a reason that he is below 500 year after year
  8. He's not going anywhere, they are doing a nice job of rebuilding their team after almost killing it, and they arent going to get rid of their cheap talent, no way, no how.
  9. Clement sucks, I dont have to say it again I hope. Im glad when he pitches, because he always loses more than he wins. If we sign him, it will be a bust, mark my words. Stop watching baseball tonite and reading the trib, he is the worst pitcher on that staff, including Rusch
  10. hahahahaha, I didnt know how short he was until I met him too, I just think that sack lunch fits him perfect. I wish someone else would've seen him always walking out of the clubhouse with that lunch in his hand, hahahaha
  11. I wish we would of packaged Greg Walker for Paul Molitor in that deal as well. Then we would've really scored. I bet he could still play too
  12. Stupid thread, I know, but we started calling him sack lunch at the games this season. And I had a beer with him a Joe's and even though I always thought it was a turkey sub with a juice box and a snack pack, he said he had to carry candy out to the bullpen for the vets. I thought that was pretty funny....And I also think that sack lunch is a great nickname for him....what do you think???
  13. The Braves are still racing for homefield advantage though, im sure they wont rest anyone until they are guaranteed that
  14. Did anyone ever notice that Adkins always carries a brown paper sack lunch to the bullpen before every game????
  15. cool, im in section 160, row 1 left of the bullpen right above Nellie Fox's picture on the wall.
  16. I thought it was Jose, and Josh Fields, cause I know they wanted a left side of the infield prospect
  17. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Odalis Perez is my #1 pick, I love the guy, love what he can do, and I think he is just coming into his own. I think he would be the other lefty that we need
  18. where are everyone's seats, im in the left field power alley
  19. im still above 500, in fact i was like 15 games up at one point
  20. This is going to sound really sick, but I went to over 42 games, not sure of the number yet. I went to all 27 of the games in my weekend plan. PLus almost all of the cubs/sox, so that adds 4 more. Then 2 games in detroit. 4 extra twins games. And im guessing around 5 randoms during the year, maybe more. SO this is a rough guess, but jeez.....thats alot of baseball. Hopefully someone else is more pathetic than me
  21. Crede=headcase trade him please, I bet there is a team out there that is willing to give us a new bat rack or maybe a bottle of pine tar for him.
  22. I just wish his name wasnt so strange sounding, not quite as fun to say as Magglio, but whatever
  23. Deadly setup guy, I hated him while he was in Minnesota, couldnt hit him to save our lives. I dont think the cubs are too reliant on power, its just that their hitters cant situationally hit. Because everyime a cub hits a fly ball, the whole crowd goes crazy, even the announcers "he really smashed that one into center field, back back, and into the fielders glove in shallow center." It makes them want to hit those types of shots. Also, there isnt a much worse fielding team than the cubs have been over the past few years. Sosa and Alou are non-existant in the outfield, and patterson takes horrible routes to the ball.
