2012 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) No, it doesn't mean they can't be bad. But it means they spend thousands of hours watching film on these players while we spend zero. It would be like you criticizing at attorney accustomed to arguing cases in front of the Supreme Court for his legal arguments. Yes, that doesn't mean he doesn't make errors, or that he is always perfect, but 99 times out of 100 he'll have a better idea of what he's doing than you. I was agreeing with you, and this was what I was trying to say...but you said it better.

Bryce Harper Getting Called Up
Yeah, I'm that guy who picked up Harper and put him in his starting lineup. Easy to do when you have terrible hitting! Can't get any worse.

2012 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 09:52 PM) I went into this draft saying that I think the bears oline isnt as bad as people think and I stand by that. A healthy O-Line, sure. Webb/Williams/Garza/Louis/Carimi is a decently athletic line (with the exception of Webb), and no worse than "a touch below average." But "healthy" is always the key word with our O-Line.

2012 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) The critiquing of the NFL draft by fans that have never even watched tape on these guys always makes me chuckle.... This. These scouts/GMs get paid to do this for a living; sure, that doesn't mean they can't be bad, but it means I'll give them a chance to prove they know what they're doing.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) People I spoke to or interacted with at work yesterday: Kenny Williams, Rick Hahn, Hawk Harrelson, Steve Stone, Carlton Fisk, Ed Farmer, Darrin Jackson, Jerry Reinsdorf, Andrew Brunette, Shawn O'Donnell. Wait, I thought you were having trouble finding a job like us normal people? Things happen when I go out of town, apparently.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) I'm going to enjoy the lynch mob when they reveal the killer, it's someone now one knows about, and then the next season (or two) is the case about trying to track that person down and charge him Sadly I might be part of that mob.

Recycling
I honestly have no idea what it is in Minneapolis -- I live near downtown, and pretty much everything is apartments. When I lived in Bloomington, IN it was $2 for each trash can, but for recycling we had to go to the Monroe County Recycling Center way south of town. Although, they might have started voluntary curb-side pickup every other week my senior year; can't remember. When I lived north of Chicago, it was weekly curb-side pickup, same day as the trash.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) The Y2HH definition of Twitter -- the convergence of narcissism and boredom. That's a pretty accurate definition. But I don't think it's the worst type of narcissism -- if you have 1 million followers or whatever, apparently people what to hear what you're doing/think. And if you're a normal person with not that many followers, well, do whatever the hell you want anyway.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) We should be fine as long as everyone (Nic Moore) doesn't transfer out. I'm in favor of keeping the staff together and having Rob Judson coach. Nic Moore is the kid from Warsaw, IN right? Is he gonna be a junior or senior now?

Mayo Clinic
Hope recovery goes well! Make sure to hit on all the hot nurses; I think a girl I went to school with works there now (if you went to Mayo).

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) I dont mind the player, just would have preferred to have moved down a few picks to get him. I still scratch my head at people clamoring for DeCastro, that makes no sense. Anything on the offensive line makes sense.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Not sure what to say about him. By the way, you like how I scooped that pick A little birdie told me something. Well, the Bears Facebook page scooped you by 3-4 minutes, according to the timestamp.

Seems about 8-10 picks too early, but I like everything they said about him. I rather would have had Reiff or DeCastro, but I'd take McClellin as much as any of the other DEs.

Went to Target Field for the first time last night. It's an absolutely gorgeous park. I highly recommend going if you're near Minneapolis.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:25 AM) He should apply for the "Weber left the cupboard empty" exemption I wish Jeremiah Rivers could have gotten a similar exception after the Sampson debacle. I was about to say "not like he was any good"...but sadly he very well might have been the best player on that 08-09 IU team.

QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) On the plus side - more Spotted Cow Ale. Since they only sell New Glarus beers in Wisconsin, sometimes I make the 40 minute trip to Hudson to buy some. Tasty. Two Women Lager is also good.
