QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:56 PM) Is that the one with the really famous version of I Want You To Want Me? The one with all of the Japanese girls singing every verse in the background and all? Yes it is. Possibly the greatest live song of all time...that or Show Me the Way. Or something from Nirvana's Unplugged. Or Layla unplugged. Yeah I'm bad at making these types of decisions.

I think I'll go put on the Blue Album and try to forget everything I just read.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) That'd be Insomnia Cookies, they may be a chain, not sure. Theyre a popular late night snack. There is an Insomnia Cookies in Bloomington as well, so it very well might be a chain.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) I saw him up at school last September, He really puts on a great show. What was his set-list like? It was mostly newer stuff (post Ben Folds Five), and he played a lot of the hits. He also previewed three new songs (one of which was the first time he's ever played live), and they were really good, so I'm excited for the next album. Apparently, novelist Nick Hornby is writing the lyrics for the next Folds album, and then he's putting them to music.

Saw Ben Folds tonight, great show. Played really well, and was very entertaining, and great with the crowd.

I went into this season expecting 3-4 wins, and the first two games proved that. Eked out wins against Eastern Kentucky (Yes, they are an FCS team) and Western Michigan at home, but then last week turned it on against Akron at their new stadium. I was happy sitting at 3-0, but obviously not too confident the strength (or lackthereof) of our schedule. I expected to lose today by something like 42-20, so the fact that we pretty much outplayed Michigan in their place is great. I'm now more optimistic about our bowl chances, but only if offense can keep up how they did today. Speaking of our offense, Darius Willis has a chance to be a beast. He was pretty highly thought of coming in, redshirted last year, and before today played a fair amount but not a lot. But he looked absolutely great today (even before that 85 yard run). He was breaking tackles, consistently getting a few yards at the end of each run, and he also showed more speed than I thought he had. Very impressive on the whole, and he will need to keep it up to give Ben Chappell a chance to throw the ball. Also, Tandon Doss is pretty special. He's looked really, really good this season, and he's proved to be pretty valuable on end-arounds too. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 01:24 AM) The bottom line is the officials on the field don't have the luxury of multiple angle replays and are often partially blocked by players. It's true, they don't. However, both players were clearly fighting for the ball, and if they couldn't even, as you said, completely see the play as they might have been blocked by players, then they still wouldn't be able to see who had it in midair and whatnot. Still, you don't give the ball to Michigan because you can't tell who came up with it. That doesn't make any sense. -

I understand that IU should have really converted in the red zone, 4 field goals just doesn't get it done (not to mention the one missed FG, that would have left the game tied). But it still would have been nice to at least have a chance to at least get in field goal range (because we had at least 2, maybe 3, timeouts left at that point). I think what gets me most about it is that we weren't thought to have a chance in this game (me included), we haven't beaten Michigan since 1987, haven't won in the Big House since 1967, and we played so much better than we have this season. It would have been nice to the chance to have that comeback, is all. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) You went to New Trier? Played in Jazz I? Correct on the former, though I wasn't in Jazz. Knew plenty of people who were, though.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 22, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) Perdido, written by Bob Mintzer, performed by my high school jazz band I was trying to figure out why this looked so familiar, then I recalled that, if I remember some of your posts right, we went to the same high school.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) I like that you say awful weather keeps you away from St. Louis yet you like Minneapolis. Our ideas of awful weather are very different. Yeah, it's definitely too extremes. But I've been to St. Louis in bad summers and Minneapolis in bad winters, and I definitely hated St. Louis more. I'm just one of those people that deals worse with heat.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Weezer - "The Weight" I love the Band version, and I love Weezer (Blue Album and Pinkerton, anyway) but I absolutely cannot STAND that song. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) It has a lot more personality then f'n indianapolis How right you are. I've only been there a few times (I go to IU, so it's about an hour away), but every time I have...ew. The downtown area is like a block long, and the circle center is cool, but that's about it. I will say that Conseco Fieldhouse is pretty awesome, though. As for St. Louis, it had some cool things about them, but the awful weather is enough to keep me away from there. Minneapolis>>>>St. Louis

I second the anti-Chris Martin sentiments.

ATTN: Kyrie Irving. Come to IU. That is all. -
The couple times I've been to U of I, I went to Murphy's, on Green St. It was pretty good, it's of the bar and grill variety.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:09 AM) I have zero idea how people don't wear a cup playing baseball, let alone any sport. We were taught that it was mandatory equipment in tball, and once you play a few years, you have no idea it's there. Does not inhibit performance. There are so many situations where you can get hit by a ball or other player (ever think of a fielder stepping on you with metal spikes as you slide into a base? I've seen that happen). It's a shame it takes an incident for people to realize they should wear one. It's like a seat belt. Not wearing one doesn't make you tough, it just makes you an idiot. Truth.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) College professor (marine biology/ecology) and director of my institute's visitor facility/marine science museum. I'll give it up in a heartbeat for a brewmaster gig at a brewpub if anybody here can make that happen. Where do you teach? Currently in school, getting a B.S. in business. Not entirely sure what I want to do with that -- thinking about something in the merchandishing/planning/buying area, though I'm strongly considering law school. I never considered broadcasting, but it's always in the back of my mind, because I'm always told I have a great deep radio voice. Silly question, to those who work in that field -- how much of a selling point is having a voice like that good for getting a job as on-air talent? I'm not even thinking about it seriously, just curious.

I didn't see his review of them, must have missed it. They have a 14 second teaser clip on youtube, that's really it.

I'll play some head to head, if there is still room.

QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) New Weezer album release date is October 27. Lets hope they can recreate the genius that their first two albums possessed. Didn't realize they were doing another quite so soon. The Red Album was better than Make Believe, but that wasn't exactly hard to top, and still nowhere near the Blue Album or Pinkerton.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers

QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Again, there is a huge assumption they are looking to shed salary at any cost. If that was the case, they could have placed him on irrevocable waivers. Why would they place him on irrevocable waivers -- better to see if they can get anything for him, maybe a mid level prospect, and if not, still let him go for nothing anyway.
