California to vote on full legalization of marijuana
farmteam replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
I don't think you can necessarily assume that the homegrown product will be as good as commercially available ones. The latter will have a profit-maximizing corporation behind it (and thus incentive to do some research so it can at the very least compete with the homegrown stuff), and thus a standardized level of quality can be established. Meanwhile those relying on homegrown stuff will be at the mercy of whatever their dealer happen to has. -
Yeah, they were telling me to get them removed for awhile, but I finally did it last summer. Some people they are fine right away, some are out for a week. I was somewhat in the middle. The day I had it done I was fine, though obviously my mouth hurt it bit. But on Monday (I had it done on a Friday morning), I felt like complete crap, and I continued to feel like that for 5 or so days. Admittedly, that might have been a reaction to the Amoxycillin they gave me to prevent infection.

Yeah, Uptown is the sort of "hip" district, with fun shops, restaurants and bars. There are good restaurants downtown, like Eight Street Grill (Eighth and Marquette) and the NewsRoom (10th and Nicollet). The Walker (an Art Museum, and it's a gigantic silver box near Loring Park, you can't miss it) is also pretty neat.

Official Recruiting Thread II
farmteam replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Not such a great day for IU recruiting yesterday. First, Moses Abraham commits to Georgetown. Then, Matt Carlino (2011) reopens his recruitment. The Carlino thing has been weird. He committed as a freshman when he was still playing in Arizona, then he moved to Bloomington to play at South (and I'll be the first to tell you that seems a little fishy), and now he reopens his recruitment? -
Them Crooked Vultures at the Aragon on May 18th. I'm stoked, I love the Aragon, and I really want to see them live.

As a college student...YES. Not like it will affect me much since I've already taken out most of my loans for undergrad. It'll probably help me for law school, though.

This is just awesome on so many levels.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) 10. "Girls! Girls! Girls!" - Liz Phair I'm actually listening to that album right now. Such a great one.

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 01:11 AM) You might be the first person I've ever talked to that didtn't like that album. It's certainly not the cleanest live album, but I definitely enjoyed it. Really? That's kind of funny, since everyone I've ever talked to can't stand it. Different tastes, I guess. I do absolutely love Nirvana, though.

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) Better or worse than "From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah"? Is it possible for anything to be worse than that album? I also have the Live at Reading dvd, but I haven't watched it yet.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:24 AM) Time is flying. I remember when I was a freshman and I think you were a senior, you were reminiscing about all your time here already. Now I only have a little over a year left....

I'm a college student. I don't know what this "having money" thing is. Other than that I have enough to go to spring break and pay for bar bills.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) Actually, its the University of Illinois (UI), not Illinois University (IU), but I like the way you think. Nope, I definitely meant Indiana University. Though both have odds

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) With that said, I hate Jim Burr with a passion and he needs to go ahead and just die already. He is absolutely clueless out there and is on a ridiculous power trip every time he is on the court. I've never agreed with anything in this thread more. He seems to do every game in Bloomington, it's frustrating. -
Conseco is an awesome venue. Also, IU is going to run the table. Just though you should all know.

I feel sorry for myself when I listen to We the Kings, because I actually like it.

IU finally gets a win. Jordan Hulls was on fire, he had 24 points, all on threes. Elston was pretty good too. -
Panama City...the panhandle is much closer than Ft Lauderdale, where we went last year.

Indiana playing absolutely wonderful basketball again (I didn't think the green was necessary). I'm fine with the losses, as I understand it's a long rebuilding process, but being competitive at any point in the past ten games would be cool too. Also, this would be a completely different team with Maurice Creek. Definitely their best player, and the only one who can really create anything on his own. -

IU-Wisconsin game was ugly. We've looked awful for the past seven or eight games. Also, tonight's reffing was the WORST I have ever seen, for both teams. Crean was irate, as he should have been, and got ejected. -
Personally, I'm all for meds, but only if they're necessary, and you don't go overboard. Also, one thing to watch out for with children is that some of these medicines have alcohol in them, which might or might not be a concern.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 15, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) I wish certain people would bother to learn all of American history and not just the rah-rah parts (We fought a war for independence and won! Lincoln freed the slaves! We saved the world from Nazis and several decades later also from Communism!) so they can see there's some not-so-good and sometimes just plain bad stuff in there, and that pointing this out doesn't make someone a bad person or that the fact that these things happen makes us all bad people. And a lot of it is relevant today... that's why it's taught... it's not some liberal conspiracy to smear America or some dumb s***. This is a really interesting point, if only because it reminds of me as a kid. I specifically thinking during specific certain parts of my childhood, "Why are there so many bad countries that America has to clean up after them, since we can do no wrong?" or "We're so awesome, we've won every war we've participated in!" Granted I was a little kid -- 8 or 9 -- and as I've gotten older I've obviously been able to comprehend things a more, and critically analyze them a lot better than a decade ago. Because of that, I've been able to see the dark shades of our history (and as I get even older, how both those good and bad times tie in to the current state of affairs). However, for a while I thought this deeper, less jaded view of American history (and all things, really) was just a natural part of growing up that everyone experiences, and for the most part this is true. But I've unfortunately come to notice what you have -- some people, regardless of their age, education level, etc., simply choose that jaded view, and I don't understand why.

I agree with most of what's been said...I'm a big fan of Southwest.
