  1. I wish ATT U-verse was available in the area, because I'd love to drop comcast.
  2. Wendelstedt is one of the worst out there.
  3. Doesn't he have Hepatitis B or something of that ilk?
  4. I was really mad when I missed Lou Barlow doing a free in store performance at Landlocked in Bloomington in April.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) And sometimes a three year old. It just happens. Then I get the "you suck as a parent look" and I want to b**** slap the motherf***er who has that look. This is one that REALLY pisses me off. I don't mind if the kid is crying or making a scene or whatever -- kids do that. I do mind when it goes on long enough, and the parents don't do anything (such as take the child outside for a bit).
  6. The Yeahs Yeahs Yeahs put on a really good show. I'm not really into them, but I went to their show at the Aragon in May, and it was excellent.
  7. I went there friday for the whole thing, and it just felt weird -- baseball inside? I'm used to it on TV, but in person it didn't feel right. The people weren't bad or rude or anything, though. What AC trick?
  8. I was flying into Minneapolis today, so I felt the need to play some Replacements and Husker Du. I was mildly amused when "Waitress in the Sky" came on.
  9. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 10:01 AM) Any love for Wilco (the Band), (the Album) or (the Song) here? Ever since I heard their music described as "dad rock," I've been hesitant to confess my complete adoration. I think the new album is solid, in that it rocks out more than Sky Blue Sky. Favorite tracks after a couple spins: Wilco (the Song), Bull Black Nova, You Never Know, I'll Fight. Also just picked up their new concert DVD, "Ashes of American Flags." Looking forward to watching it this weekend. I saw them two months ago live. I wasn't real familiar with their stuff, but they put on a pretty good show, and a lengthy one at that.
  10. First row, visitor's on deck circle, or second row behind the Sox dugout. But that's pretty rare. More common ones are last row, right about first base...those are nice too.
  11. If Dino Jr comes to Chicago, I'll have to go. I also echo the comments on Silversun Pickups. As for Manchester Orchestra, I've listened to the new album a bit, I like it, but I think the more I listen the more I'll like it. A caller on Q101 the other day called "I've Got Friends" a "mix between Modest Mouse and Radiohead" which is...somewhat accurate, I think.
  12. Ecstatic that we picked Phegley. Also happy Bashore and Arnett went today!
  13. My thoughts on Green Day have pretty much always been that I don't mind listening to them, but I don't really seek them out.
  14. IU has a pretty sick offense, but there's not a ton of depth pitching wise, and defense is sometimes a concern. Arnett came out of absolutely nowhere this year. Unfortunately, I was never able to get out to the park on days he was pitching, so I don't have anything real good for you. However, everything I heard around campus has been echoed in this thread -- hard fastball, not a ton of movement, and not great secondary pitches. The guy I really love on IU's team is Phegley, he's a stud. Hits with power, compact stance, handles the staff real well. Anyone know if Bashore is going to drafted? He was the ace of the Hoosier staff last year as a sophomore, but wasn't quite as good this year. He started off poorly, but he really picked it up in big ten play.
  15. Yeah, Hoosiers dominated this week. I hope that can keep that going through the NCAA tourney.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) Actually, bmags started a thread about Sri Lanka early this year. You participated in that thread. But I guess we don't care about brown people. And then they came for me. I was reminded of that. That was quite likely the most powerful piece of writing I have ever read.
  17. I've been listening to Cage the Elephant's album (Cage the Elephant-2008) for the past few hours, I'm really digging it. I heard the single Ain't No Rest for the Wicked on the radio, and I've been pleased. The whole record definitely has a Jack White vibe to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHBKnKCZe-8

    Finals Week

Two down, two (Business Communications and Commercial Law) to go.
  19. Has anyone ever seen some of the musical acts at the Taste of Chicago? Is it worth going to for music? Not in terms of the type of bands because I've read the lineup, but how long are the sets, are there too many people, etc.
  20. Yeah, I saw Flight of the Conchords last weekend, very good show.
  21. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) You forgot to mention Soulja Boy Tell'em. Yes I did. Are you done here for the weekend?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Do y'all get a decent concert? Wilco was here last week, and Flight of the Conchords is here Saturday night. As for rappers at the frats, there's: DJ Unk, Young Jeezy, Wale, Ludacris
