Today is a good example of......
The secret is to hit up the middle or the opposite way, but our guys don't do it very often.
-
Who's your choice...
Joe Crede and Jon Garland and Jenks

what place will the sox finish in?
I VOTED FOR 1ST PLACE. But, realistically at this time of year you can only say we will be contenders for the crown.
-
I dont see it
With all due respect to my friends here on Soxtalk... the season is 162 games long and all that matters is the record on the last day of the season. Looking at this 07 team I think we are real contenders in a strong division. I am ready for the season to begin.

Here's a surprise, Downey picks Cubs and Sox 4th
How many armchair managers get these things right anyway? I pick Downey for last place. I think the Sox will be contenders and that's all you can ask for or predict right now.

From worst to first??
I don't like what I saw in Spring Training, but I'll tell you how I feel about things overall sometime around October 1st
-
Buehrle, Jose, Vazzy, Jon
I know one thing spring traing or not I am tired of losing by lopsided scores. Pitchers are poor, hitters with lots of GIDP's, poor displays all the way around. We need to get going so hopefully when the bell rings this stuff is sorted out

Haeger to AAA
Haeger has all kinds of upside, but just didn't show it this spring. Russell and him will be in the bigs sooner than later. I'll be interested to see how this shakes out with the bullpen. Logan probably leads in the lefty reliever race, but last yer he looked real good coming out of spring training and then blew it.
-
Boone Logan: Mr. March? + Bullpen thoughts
Logan had the position given to him last year and bombed. If he gets it gain for 2007 I only hope he isn't a spring training Cy Young and flops again. But at 10 scoreless he is leading the other lefties at the least. So he earns it and maybe Sisco

Would you make this trade with the Phillies ?
Like what you have is my statement. We don't value our own players enough. I have always liked Aaron Rowand, but the reality of it seems to be we have many OF options incluidng CF specifically.

Sox v Mariners, at TEP, 3:05pm, 3/22/07
Iguchi is getting it on now. I listened to that game yesterday on XM satelitte and heard Iguchi get that grand slam. I love that guy

Sox v Mariners, at TEP, 3:05pm, 3/22/07
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) I think charlie was out of that race a while ago, today may have blown his chances at that last bullpen spot. Yep! That one too

Sox v Mariners, at TEP, 3:05pm, 3/22/07
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Um, does that make sense to anyone? I don't get it. Only that he must like BA a lot??

Sox v Mariners, at TEP, 3:05pm, 3/22/07
I think Haeger blew his chances today to be the 5th starter.

What could the Sox get for Mackowiak ?
Don't speculate like that. I think Mack stays as Fields will head to AAA for another year. I am guessing that Pods is good for this year, but if we sign Crede we give up Pods and Fields is the new LF'er in '08

Rowand on The Score
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) Did anyone else hear Rowand's interview around 8:15 with Mike North. After hearing the interview, I'm anticipating him being on the Sox any second now. Rowand had a couple of "no comments" when asked about what KW has told him about coming back to the Sox, etc. Also, Rowand seemed very disgruntled about his situation in Philadelphia. Fathom, unless a deal is done I don't think KW could be talking to Rowand. Am I wrong on that?
-
David Aardsma
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) KW sold low on Cotts. For a young lefty reliever a year removed from a tremendous season, I thought we should have gotten more. Aardsma isn't a good pitcher, and I feel like Hendry sold KW on his performance to end the season. I tend to agree, but I think we sold low of Freddie Garcia too. I won't say we went low on McCarthy low. We got two arms for one and all close in expereince and talent. I prefer to think we came out ahead on that trade.
-
Sox @ Rangers, March 13
Garcia won't bomb. He has a proven track record and is a battler. He will win 15 to 20 wins for the Phillies. Are they willing to pay him next year though? Freddie may end up as a free agent, but I think we could have signed him for Vazquez type money, if we had kept him.

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) The new Sox radio commercials are insanely annoying, the gushing over Erstad being a grinder since birth, I'm cheering for Erstad and all but this grinder s*** is getting out of hand. They also make mention of the 6 fireballers in the pen including Aardsma, Masset and Sisco. 2 of which are likely headed for Charlotte. I have to agree that this Grinder stuff is annoying. If you don't play hard all the time you shouldn't be here

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Reviewing the box score against the Padres for Monday and the fact the Sox grounded into 4 DP's makes me happy to see they are already in mid season form. Paulie had 2 GIDP's. I am glad it's only Spring Training but a 4-10 record kind of sucks. Hope they start putting some good stuff together before the season opener.
-
Brian Anderson
Brian's apparent improvement in his hitting approach makes the supposed interest by the Sox in Rowand that much more interesting

Managers on the "Hot Seat"
I would prefer to see Al Lopez or Eddie Stanky back in charge if not Ozzie I don't put much credence in these types of ST stories.
-
Levine reports Sox and Buehrle to talk
I am hopeing that something does get done with Mark B. $14M and 3 or 4 years is certainly on par with other contracts we have ben seeing and maybe even better than some.

Sox Lockup Vazquez to Contract Ext.
I think it shows that Sox management is willing to pay money to keep its palyers. The question is how much that player wants from the team? Hopefully we wil see another few signings.

The deal is done.
Not sure I like this idea. MLB is not thinking of its fans by doing this in my opinion. Not everyone has the DirectTV and these exclussive deals always leave out a lot of consumers. I am hoping this gets real serious examination by the FCC,
