White Sox vs. Rangers, 4/18/07 (W) ~Buehrle No-Hitter~
Wanne replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Just turned it on. WTF....MARK DIDN'T GIVE UP ANY RUNS IN THE FIRST?!?!? Praise the lord and all that is holy. -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) Anyone have advice for getting an actual human on the phone from MLB.com? I've got some questions regarding my MLB.tv subscription that I need answered, waited last night on hold for a hour and then today for 30 mins and never got a person on the phone. I've also never gotten responses to my emails submitted to their customer service department. After doing a brief google search, I've come to realize that their service is notoriously bad. Anyone have advice for getting a hold of someone or does anyone else share the same frustration? I've had some bad service experiences before, but this is just downright awful. I've been in the same boat aboz. They probably have one schmoe answering all the calls. My patience has worn thin with them. My stream sucks.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) I originally thought of all this not to blame Walker because these guys have all hit in the past and I can't understand what's changed in them. The stories of him "changing" people to these home run swings, though, horrify me. And where's the damn bunting? So I will join the consensus in calling for his head; although I like the idea of just moving him somewhere else in the organization. It's about adjustments...or lack thereof. I honestly can only remember one...maybe 2 hits this year to the opposite field. EVERY right handed hitter is being pitched low and away. Why is this that goddamn hard to figure out for them?!?

QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 11:52 PM) they're professionals, the white sox dont need someone to get fired to realize they need to start actually hitting. Yes...they do. And being professional...you ARE held accountable for your job performance. This entire team's approach at the plate sucks. It starts somewhere.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) It sure as s*** worked for Cleveland last year. Even if this somehow isn't Walker's doing you still need to can his ass, a firing right now would almost certainly fire up the offense. It works most every time. At the very least it would give these guys a sense of accountability in terms of job performance. I've been on the Fire Walker bandwagon since last year. Hopefully Kenny will feel the same that SOMETHING needs to be done. One thing I can see though if this happens will be a problem with Ozzie feeling a sense of loyalty and really causing a big stink about it. Tough s*** Ozzie...you're an employee too...deal with it.

I'm just wondering what the hell AJ is thinking back behind the plate these days. I hope some of these guys start shakin' him off with 2 strikes.

QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Also I would love love to see Ozzie actually take into account the fact that stacking lefties on right after the other isn't the best lineup. Its not even about the matchups, going Pods, Erstad, Thome kills us late in the ballgame when the manager bring in his LOOGY; Fultz, Reyes, whoever. Also pitchers say u do them a favor when u stack lefties instead of rotate righty-lefty cuz it allows them to key in on one side of the plate and get a rhythm goin against those hitters. Going Righty-lefty roto forces the pitcher to have to work both sides of the plate differently in each at bat and doesn't allow him just to paint one side for the 3 quick outs. Im in favor of the change. See...everybody else gets it. Great point on Gooch too. Someone tell me this too....if Gooch goes something like 2-20...Ozzie has no problems pulling his ass from the lineup. But Erstad does it...he remains in the lineup. Why?!?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) Notice how many opposite field hits and outs the Indians had today? Not only Garko, but other hitters made Dye run around and make some difficult catches. It's as if they're hitting coaches realized that our pitchers were sitting on the outside corner, and it only made sense to take advantage of Slow-Man Dye and his amazing ability to make the OF grass appear as quicksand. Just as simple as going with the pitch. Their pitching coach obviously has been paying attention as well. Paul Byrd lives low and away. No one adjusted, and those who did made popup after popup. We REALLY need a Ryan GArko in this organization. No one on this team EVER seems to adjust. I'm with Frankensteiner on this...it's time Walker pull his thumb out of his ass and actually do something with these guys. I know he can only do so much...but COACH these guys during games...reaffirm the pitchers tendencies and make suggestions. How many times do we have to see it...say it...bemoan it...these guys are most effective when going to the opposite field instead of friggin trying to pull everything. An ozzie...quit bein' so damn stubborn and just move Gooch back into the 2 hole.

Is the Sox-Cubs rivalry the same for non-Chicagoans?
Wanne replied to BearSox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't live back there anymore...not for 23 years...but yes, it does mean a lot to me. I HATE THE CUBS!!!! -
Awesome win~! Will be nice to see when the offense starts to click as well. 5-4 with many people still not doing crap at the plate. I'll take it.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Not unless Podsednik is 15 feet tall. I'm watchin on this piece of crap streamed s***...and it sure looked like it was eerily similar to the ball the other nite and hit at the base of the wall.
-
now correct me if I'm wrong...but wasn't that a friggin catchable ball?!? Goddamn Pods.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Hmm, well if the score remains the same, do you bring Sisco back out, or put Masset in for 1 or 2 innings, then Mac or Thornton? Nice avatar!
-
right on andrew!
-
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) who's comin in??? Sisco

Let's not forget the Cubbies not willing to part with Prior for Tejada. Nice move Hendry!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Mr. Gyroball has a crappy fastball (and yes, I saw the juiced velocity numbers on ESPN tonight, there is no way Dice K was throwing 95 or King Felix was throwing 100). Dice K has great offspeed stuff, but his fastball got killed when he did throw it, and it will continue to all year as it is about 91 and straight as an arrow. King Felix is just filthy though, yikes. That was one of the most dominating, impressive performances I've seen in a long time.

I don't get it either. Seems the US opens their arms to every Juan, Dick and Geraldo...hell...Arizona probably has more supposed people with terrorist ties cross than anywhere else...but they're busting his nuts over trying to get his family here?!? I really can't see where it's deemed the same as the coyotes out here bringing illegals in by the truckload and getting busted. Hell...I just got my new Durango jacked last weekend by a 15 year old illegal. They recovered it after he tried to get away...rammed into a pregnant ladies car with 4 other kids and smashed the s*** outta my Durango. The county prosecutor told me even if he does serve any juvie time (and he does have priors)...he'll get deported but probably be back here in a couple of months anyway. Super system. Let's keep letting these losers come and go as they please...but GOD FORBID if a guy wants to get his family out of a crap county to be with him.

QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) Michael Barrett........listening to him talk makes me want to punch him in the face. concur.

Dudes...it's friggin Maxim magazine. Does their opinion on anything regarding sports (besides wet T-shirt contests) really mean s***?!?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) Diving catch. If you go to the MLB recap you can find a link to the highlight. thanks balta!

Somebody please give me a recap. What great play did Anderson make that saved a run. Must of been when I had to run outside.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) Fascinating stat I heard today (haven't confirmed it, but I'm sure it's pretty accurate): Mark Buehrle has allowed a first inning run in 15 of his last 18 starts, including at least 8 starts in a row. Hell I believe it...seems like more if you ask me. What can you actually do about it?!?...warm up longer? What the hell game was that last year he gave up 8-9 in the first?

Hawk has been grating on my nerves lately. I LOVED having Black Jack in the booth...but the only downside...you have to hear DJ's latent blather all the more.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) KONG!!!!! YOU PIECE OF FINE ASS! 6-3 GOOD GUYS.
