  1. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) Can't wait for those Tejada rumors to start up again. I never read enough of those... or the ARod ones.
  2. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) f-off. point being, uribe isnt as great of a defensive SS as you think and Cintron isnt as poor. Offensively Cintron is far superior to Uribe. im not saying that fielding % is the only gauge of defensive skills, however from a fielding % comparison they are equivilent. how many times have I been shot down with it so far??? Not to throw a wrench into your stats...but out of those numbers...how many games was Cintron at 2B? This whole thing is bulls***. How can a judge order somebody to make twice monthly court appearences if there are no charges?!? Hell...it's the friggin Dominican Republic. Get a bag of cash and a few boxes of Cubans to the judge and let's move on.
  3. Seriously...why the hell not?!? He's only 31. Worse somebody could say was no.
  4. Friggin D'Backs are IDIOTS for doing this...which is nothing really more than a PR move on their part to try and put some butts back in the seats after stagnent attendence the last few years...and a little makeup move for how they dealt with Gonzo. Not saying I disagree with letting Gonzo go...it was just the manner in which they did it that pissed D'Back fans off out here. As with any sport out here in Phoenix...apathy sets in. Sure...there's a billion Suns fans right now...but wait when they're in decline...nobody goes except corporate people. Randy Johnson is a prick...plain and simple. You just wait...if and when he ends up back in Phoenix...I should start an over and under on the week he starts to b**** and moan about the team. I say middle of June he should be in top prick form.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Texas is, to my eyes, now officially a major threat to win the American League the next 2 years. Because of McCarthy...Mmmmmkay. I may be wrong...but I think you overvalue McCarthy a little Balta. Texas has always has the horsepower at the plate to compete...but their pitching has really sucked bad. I can't see McCarthy all of a sudden pushing them to the forefront.
  6. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) I think that Haeger could be as productive as a McCarthy if given the opportunity Me too. In my mind...McCarthy=Kip Wells. If McCarthy goes a full season with Texas...I predict his record will be around 11-16.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) Another stupid decision. It'd make more sense to place Haeger in the bullpen as the long reliever and have Sisco in Charlotte. If your quotes are correct, they plan on leaving him in the rotation to work on devleopintg his pitchers for an upcoming spot in the rotation. Okay, but wouldn't it make MORE sense to put him in the minor leagues where he can do the same thing without the inconsistent workload? Nah, just stunt the growth of another starter. I'm not crazy about a knuckleballer coming out of the bullpen.
  8. Another thing I think KW is reaching for a little here besides stockpiling for the future...that one or two of these guys steps up like it seems like the youngsters in Oakland have in recent years or Bonser in Minny did last year. It could happen. Have a little faith my brothas.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) The Sox are not going to get anywhere with 4 major league pitchers. Thats all we got right now. I see your point tony...but ya still have to have some faith that someone will step up large this year...or KW still has something in mind. Lots of possibilites for the 5th slot.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) However, we have had our fair share of trades that didn't go all that great. The only one that comes to mind is Wells and Fogg for Ritchie.
  11. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Totally different situation. Your banking on a garbage pitcher to be in the top of your rotation to a middle reliever in a non high profile trade in Thornton. No...point being a lot of people thought Matt Thornton was total crap...as well as people in the Mariners orginization and fanbase...having the same opinion of Thornton that you do of Floyd. That's the point I was making.
  12. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Get out of here with that logic and reason! You must not have gotten your invitation to McCarthy's Cy Young ceremony from now until his retirement and you're just bitter about that. That's gotta be it. That and he snubbed my kid for an autograph this spring....BASTARD!
  13. QUOTE(philadelphia sox fan @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Agree 100%. This guy had his chance and he dropped the ball. I'd like to go back and see how many people said this about Thornton too. I guess I'm one of the few that's not upset with this trade at all...because personally...just wasn't sold on McCarthy being a consistant pitcher at this level. Obviously KW isn't just going to toss a couple starters away for nothing...give it a chance. Arms added: Sisco, Aardsma, Gio, Danks, Masset, Floyd (not a bad collection of young talent) Arms lost: Freddy, Cotts, McCarthy Arms to be counted on: MB: contract year...will come back strong IMO Garland: most consistant pitcher the past two seasons Count: Very consistant past few years Javy: Pitched very well at the end of last year Come off the ledge people...we're in good shape next year....and KW's seeing to it that we'll be well off for the future as well. He's not s***cannin' '07.
  14. Don't know much about Sisco...but: A lefty 6-foot-10, 270-pounder...HOLY s***! Sounds like a great deal and Matt Thornton all over again.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) Good post sir. Cosign. Great post indeed!
  16. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) Bmac is a lock for the starting rotation IMO. Yippee...I'm all atingle. I posted on another board that he'll probably be on IR by July from the snap in his neck watchin' all the rockets fly outta the Cell.
  17. So in a round about way...is this saying we can kiss the idea of any free agent dealings (of any real worth) in the future away? I honestly think KW has a man crush on Beane or something...or just a jealous envy. Memo to Jerry: Hey Jerry...how goddamn long did it take the bulls franchise to pull their jocks back up and be respectable?!? I really don't like where this is going.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Honestly, I can't see a team being interested in trading for Pods at that price. To me, it looks like Pods is here for 2007. Nah....me neither.
  19. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) i'll take my chance with pods for 1 year, 2.9 than with roberts for 3-5 mil for 3 yrs. Definately agree. And like Chisoxfn said...I think Pods will bounce back and have a much better year. Last year could be attributed to an array of things: coming off a career year and World Series hangover, injuries and of course adapting to life as Mr. Lisa Durgan. I'll take Pods over Pierre or Roberts any day. Hell...KW may decide to just stand pat this offseason and make just a few tweeks...which really, is that all that bad? For a team that pretty much everybody saw underachieve and play miserably throughout the year...to still win 90 games...is it really that bad to stand pat?!? My biggest complaint from last year which I DO NOT want to see again this year at all...please...keep Mack out of center.
  20. I talk to a lot of Mariner fans who make the trip down for Spring Training...and they all still absolutely LOVE Freddy. So I think talk of him going back there is just as much a PR move as anything.
  21. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) well, i'd love to have a guy like haegar just for long relief. If one of our starters screws the pooch, we wouldn't be SOL the next couple of days with an exhausted bullpen. I'm not opposed to hanging on to haegermeister unless it's a deal that he's packaged in for say Crawford. What I'm not crazy about is the idea of having a knuckleballer come out of the pen.
  22. Wanne

    KW

Honestly...do you really think KW would add Bonds to the Clubhouse? Wouldn't that be fun. There's primmadonna Barry sitting in the corner...Paulie not ever talking to him...Thome trying to be the Ambassador of Goodwill and AJ bouncing spitwads off Bonds dome and turning his back real quick. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!
  23. How old is Vizquel...like 60? Geez....no thanks. Delluci really intrigues me....but he's really not a lot different than Mack. The whole Manny talk is ridiculous. Wasn't that why Carlo Lee was traded? I still would really like Eric Byrnes on this team to play left field. Not sure why AZ still hasn't reupped him.
  24. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Tucson is still in a uproar over this. The Pima County supervisor is holding a big rally/protest tomorrow at Tucson Electric Park over this. A state rep is pleading with the governor to help draft a bill that would probit the Sports commishion from using funds to lure teams from other Arizona Cities. Tucson link This could get interseting Tough crap Tucson! What are they gonna do...hold the White Sox hostage? A funny thing about Glendale (and the Cardinals for that matter)...they've craved the attention for years now...really worked hard establishing the Westgate area with the Hockey arena and now the football stadium...and soon to be baseball ST. And for years...the Cardinals have b****ed and moaned...HAVING to play at a college stadium...seeking their own identity...a place to call home. Both Glendale and the Cardinals finally have it...and what do they call it...."UNIVERISTY OF GODDAMN PHOENIX STADIUM"?!?!?
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) That's what I mean. If we were to trade for Santana, would you rather trade Ervin or McCarthy to the Rays for Crawford? Which guy is projected to be better? Guess I'm just not sold on McCarthy. Just like I'm not sold on dealing Freddy. Thing with me...I'd trade the Freddy from the first half of the season in a heartbeat. I would even consider trading the Freddy of the 2nd half of the season. Which Freddy shows up next year. I guess I still have that bitter taste about when he stated he just doesn't get up for pitching against teams like KC (which is obvious). KW's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't here. He trades Mac and becomes pretty solid (which would mildly surprise me). He trades Freddy....Angels win the west (hypothetically). It's a roll of the friggin dice and you can analyze it all you want....NOBODY KNOWS. But if I was gonna bet on the more solid results for the next 3 years...Freddy. Then the money comes into play....paying Freddy a ton more for equal results would suck...but again...what's Mac proven. But after all that...to answer yer question....if Freddy's gone...I deal McCarthy. I just don't have a good feel about him. He deals up too many meatballs IMO.
