  1. In a pipe dream....KW could persuade Pittsburg to give up Freddy Sanchez as well. I think the Pirates still hold his rights for another few years with arbitration and all.
  2. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) And we have enough offensive problems without adding chemistry problems...the Wilfredo Corderos, Julio Lugos, Albert Belles and Jamie Dukes of the world. No thanks. Not sure you can really clump Callapso into that group....but who's to say. Yes...he's had some problems...but let's not underestimate the fact of having a Latino leader like Ozzie can do for him. Seemed to work out pretty well with Juan. The guy is a hell of a player and if given the chance....I think he could hit around .300 on a consistant basis.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 14, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) Luis Castillo and Grudzelanick seem like the best fits. Both would be like 2 year contracts probably atmost but in that time I think both would be good too. Hell...Grudzielanek could probably be had right now. Friggin' Gooch is just completely pissin' me off this year.
  4. I can't see the Angels giving up Willits...that is unless you throw Crede at them. A team to possibly look at right now who is struggling offensively also is the DBacks. Sometimes change is good. Even though this guy has a handful of personal problems right now...it may be a good time to make a package for Alberto Callaspo. I'd still give my let nut to have Eric Byrnes on this team. So...a package that included Dye (home in the Valley), a pitching prospect (that does not include Gio) and maybe (fill in the blank) for Byrnes and Callaspo. Before everybody jumps down my throat...I'm not sure what specifics would be...but I just threw out the main ones.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ May 13, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) Did you conveniently miss the part where I said it would be a one day break for Iguchi? Iguchi's been on my s*** list almost all year due to terrible at-bats and pathetic defense. And yet Ozzie hasn't sat him yet...which I can't even fathom (no pun intended). The last few years it seemed when he was benched for a game or two...he came back with a pretty aggressive attitude at the plate and tore it up. Now's the time he sits for a few days.
  6. story of our season so far. Our hittters get cookies and "just miss" in Hawk's words...opposing hitters get 'em and knock the s*** outta it.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 11, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) Where is Sweeney???? Why isnt he in RF for defense. Oh f*** that....you can't have a left handed hitter in the lineup when there's a LHP. He's not experienced enough. God forbid you give him some ABs Ozzie you friggin PUTZ!
  8. QUOTE(Balance @ May 11, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) The clubhouse alcohol bans seem to be a knee-jerk reaction to the Hancock incident. As has been mentioned above, his death had nothing to do with alcohol in the clubhouse. The players themselves need to make sure that they don't drink and drive. It's probably a good idea if the teams provide limos/cabs/town cars for players who have consumed too much. But it's not necessary to ban clubhouse alcohol. Exactly the case. I really just think it's more of an "image" decision as well as covering their asses in terms of liability.
  9. Not the best of circumstances to say the least...but earlier this year this guy was pretty much untouchable. Arrest puts Callaspo in limbo Nick Piecoro The Arizona Republic May. 10, 2007 10:13 PM Infielder Alberto Callaspo's immediate future with the Diamondbacks is up in the air after he was arrested Thursday by Phoenix police on suspicion of assault on his wife and criminal damage. Callaspo, 24, was being questioned by detectives Thursday evening, said Detective Stacie Derge. Diamondbacks President Derrick Hall said Callaspo will not join the team in Houston, where it begins a nine-game road trip tonight. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbac...llaspo0511.html I know the morality generals will frown upon this...but hey...s*** happens sometimes and I am in no way condoning any of this. But why not take advantage of the situation.
  10. Sorry...maybe it's just me...but the most I'd pay for that thing is MAYBE 20 bucks. I just don't see it as that big a piece of memorabilia. Hell...the front page of the newspaper or sportspage framed from that day is more cool IMO. It just looks and seems kinda cheesy. That's just me though...
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 10, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) I am going to buy one of 3 jerseys. A. Burls is he resigns b. Danks C. Sweeney love em all Finally the sox have young talented players from our system. ^^^^^ Probably Buehrle if he resigns. If not...definately Danks.
  12. QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 10, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) I think Gooch needs more AB's in the 2nd hole before we start comparing him to Cintron's golf swing. 2 hole?!?...he looks clueless at the plate right now. Every time the dude gets benched he gets pissed and goes on a tear. I say f*** it and sit his ass for a few games.
  13. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 10, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) well i sorta agree, but how abvout moving sweeney to 2, and and iguchi to 8? that might be too much for sweeney to handle, but with a 5 game hit streak and iguchi bein cold, i want him there How bout Gooch sits once in a while and Pablo plays second. Geez-us...between Gooch and Cintron....it's brutal watching those ABs anymore.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Ugh, this is one of those situations where KW needs to step in and make sure Sweeney doesn't see AAA for the rest of the season. I was just gonna say this Kalapse. Problem being then Ozzie gets all ass-hurt and tries to puff his nuts out and wouldn't ever play Sweeney.... JUST BECAUSE. "Eez my baw club...". You're right though...bottom line is it should be Kenny's decision.
  15. Dude could easily be 3-1. He's definately a keeper! Brandon who?!?!?
  16. crew's pick to click...pffffffffffffffffft...at this point I'll take a "Pick Not To Suck at the Plate Tonight".
  17. The guy lost my interest when he said: "No Bullpen(S)". Seriously...I think these guys think of this stuff while on the can and scribble it on a roll of toilet paper (which is actually very fitting). The only guy I really see gone is Crede. Dye...not so much...scribes think he'll command big dollars...I don't see it. Garland...unless you get a tremendous package...what's the point of trading him and just letting his contract expire...and take the picks at the end of it. I'm not of the, "the sky is falling" quite yet...but these guys better get their collective heads outta their asses soon.
  18. When did Jack Bauer start pitching for the Mariners? I thought he was busy saving the country.
  19. QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I don't want to know what you do on the weekends... It's usually b**** about his team endlessly to the point my family hates me.
  20. Well that was super. Just get home...see the only Sox run was Terrero's homer and wanted to get a big ha,ha.....turn on my MLB.tv and the first goddamn pitch I watch....GONE. f*** ME IN THE f*** ASS!!!! Now I feel like I can't even watch anymore.
  21. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) The DRays would want 3 young pitchers. They don't need position playesrs. They would ask for a closer , I'm guessing MacDougal or Jenks, a younger relief arm like Aardsma/Sisco/Logan, and a good starting pospect like Gonzalez. Baldelli's contract is a dream and in the offsseason the DRays wanted Saltallamachia, Yunel Escobar, and Chuck James for him. It might not take a package that good, but something close to it to get him. Dude...we're talking Rocco Baldelli....not Vernon Wells. He's good...but not giving up the farm good for god's sake.
  22. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) Maybe the veteran leadership and "discipline" of the White Sox clubhouse was what McCarthy needed, because he's falling apart now in Texas. Maybe it's because he's flat out terrible.
  23. Good Lord.....Terrero?!? SERENITY NOW....SERENITY NOW!!!!!
  24. OK....I'll play along... Lance Broadway, Logan and BA for Rocco Baldelli
  25. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) I wonder if him declining to go to winter ball again this year played into him being sent to AAA. If KW lets this Ozzie vs xxxx bulls*** continue, especially with Anderson then he might as quit his job if he's letting Ozzie manage and run the team. He traded Rowand and Young because Anderson was the future CF. If Anderson is gone that is pure shame on KW's part. Not sure of all the facts regarding him leaving winter ball this past year. Didn't he have some intestinal virus or something? As for Anderson...you hit the nail on the head IMO. They traded Rowand with no real plausible options for CF. In all honesty...Anderson never should have even been up last year...so to completely criticize the guy and call him a worthless piece of crap...not a good baseball player at all, etc...is completely off base. If anything...another major league outfielder (Byrnes for one option) should have been added last year even if it meant putting Pods (gak) in center. Anderson shouldn't have even been considered until he showed he could put up good numbers in Charlotte on a consistant basis. Don't blame Anderson for Christ sakes....blame Kenny.
