QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) You said to me: "That doesn't make sense." It makes a lot of sense. Cub fans want the Sox to lose all their games. The Sox fans dreaming of some draft pick that may or may not pan out want the Sox to lose all their games. So they have a lot in common. They both currently hate the Sox. Wanting em to lose. It's hard for me to stomach good Sox fans wanting them to lose every game. Sad, but I do understand their logic as much as I disagree with it. While I agree somewhat...what is there to gain by winning a few meaningless games with vets instead of getting the younsters some PT? There's no downside to playing youth and losing with them except for butthurt veterans.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) You're not crazy, I totally agree. The offense will click and the Sox will have a .500 or better record from here on out and end up with the #9 pick in the draft. Super! They finally get it going...and for what?!?...to make themselves feel a little better going into the offseason? I couldn't give a crap less about their fragile little egos. Sit some of these guys and lets see the younsters play. And I really don't give a crap if it pisses off Wedge, Leyland or whoever either. If the vets get pissed about it...tough s***. You shoulda been doing...or started doing your job back in May.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) My how the mighty have fallen. I could not believe Billy Beane of all people gave Esteban that kind of a contract. Even better, I can't believe the Dodgers picked him up. Seriously...when they could have had Count!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) I can't believe nobody has taken the Devil Rays -- they're clearly the team Sox fans need to be rooting for right about now. They're only three back!!!! ^^^^^^ I second that.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 01:55 PM) Unreal. To get a SS we need to go after a young talent and start building for the future. I am in utter disbelief that anyone could think this wretched team merely needs a couple added veterans on an already aging and laborious team. Eckstein would be fine, if you dumped about 8 or 9 other players currently on the roster. This team sucks and David Eckstein won't make it but so much better. I'd keep my eye on Brandon Crawford, SS from UCLA as well. Personally I still think Kenny makes a strong run at Tejada this off season.

Did Da Orioles Get More For Trachsel Than We Did For Iguchi/Mack
Wanne replied to whitesoxgt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Gooch was basically addition by subtraction. What was the point of keeping him. Plus...I think Kenny felt bad he traded damaged goods in Garcia. -
Look on bright side....the DRays won!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) Seriously, would Aaron Rowand fix any of the following: Our year long hole in LF Joe Crede getting hurt Jon Garland sucking for half of the year Jose Contreras sucking for all of the year John Danks being inconsistent Our entire bullpen except Bobby Jenks being bad almost all year Our lack of young talent on the farm to help the club Our crappy SS Our lack of depth, both in the majors and levels below The tough competition in the AL Central and AL period Your DAMN RIGHT he would have!!!! He would have single-handedly carried this team from the bowels of dispare. He would have righted every wrong. He would have willed this team to levels that no team has gone before. He's....... SUPER ROWAND!!!

What does Harold actually do?!? Is he a tranquilitist? I've never actually seen his lips move.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) Mine is actually, "When do the Bears start?" Seriously....can't get here fast enough! I actually scored some primo seats for the Bears/Chargers game next week and takin my son! Loge. Row 2!!!!

I'm sure the Philly fans blew him kisses and he got warm embraces all around after going 0-4 with 4 K's yesterday.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) Oh, btw That's great....

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) Sadly, I don't think that's a possibility - at least in the near future. He's building a facility out near Lockport so I would assume that's going to take up a lot of his time over the next few summers. He wasn't sure in March if he would be back in AZ for ST'08. Facility? For what?

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) so it's come to this. an mlb draft thread in august. god please make this season end. Ahhhhhhh....like the Bears boards of past. Draft talk by beginning of November....and 6 months of latent blather with little Mel Kiper wannabes on draft prospects.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) Zero. Him and JR have been fine for a few years now. He's just happy being a retired ball player who plays a lot of golf. I hope that's true....and some day he'd get the itch to get back into the game. I'm not tryin' to stir the pot or anything...but it still seems that there would be just a tad ill will. Like Rocky said, "still got some stuff in the basement...." btw steff....LOVE the Bo idea!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) It seems to me there's a guy who draws an ARod comparison like every year or two? True. I think a few years ago the Upton kid for the DBacks did. He blasted through there system pretty quick too.
-
I'm almost willing to bet anything that Kenny takes a pitcher (sigh). I honestly wouldn't mind if the Sox went with the AA lineup just to get a shot at Alvarez (who draws ARod comparisons). Those guys don't come around all that often...so why not. Here's a couple other sites: http://www.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/stories/080907aae.html http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=400

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) By the way, please get what we can for Jon Garland. I've never seen such an average pitcher so overvalued in the recent history of this organization... Amen. I'd still give my left nut if Garland finished strong and he could be shipped to Seattle for Balentien. Second destination...Angels.

http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines My personal favorite: Seriously...it's about time he friggin wigged out. These guys are the most passionless group of turds I've seen in quite a while. Seems like Ozzie's been trying to by Mr. Congeniality since his run in with Moronatti last year. Well f*** it....these guys deserve to be ripped a new asshole. My problem is, I just think he should have done this back in the end of May, beginning of June or so. I can just picture Paulie and Thome just kind of shrugging in the corner right now. This team really lacks leaders besides Mark. Don't get me wrong...I love Paulie to death...but we need more nads on this team. Bout friggin time Oz.....

Walker. Plain and simple. I doubt anybody will be fired though.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) Because the sox probably won't pay the $5 mill. for Crede and the $15 + mill for hunter. However, the sox could get Crede and Rowand for the price of Hunter. I'm thinking that Kenny will go after Rowand and try to bring back the "magic". Signing Hunter to big money just makes no sense to me. I just think defeatist attitudes really brought this team down this year. What's that preacher in the locker room in the movie The Natural say?..."Losing...is a disease...like bubonic plague" or some crap like that. I still see Garland being moved this off season...but if...and ONLY if he gets a pretty good return. I see an outfield of Fields/Rowand/Dye. And speaking of trades...does Thome actually have any trade value...and to who?!?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) Alvarez is the best player in the draft, and it's not even close. I'd almost wager to fit him for a DRay jersey already. So who's next on the list? Kyle Russell? I don't know too much about Dominic de la Osa (SS) but he may be possibility. Smoak? I'd love to be able to get Alvarez...but I think it's a pipedream.

Is this the worst year in your Soxfandom?
Wanne replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think getting a taste of success in '05 and the lofty expectations for this year...combined with a miserable performance has all added up to probably the worst IMO. -
It is embarrassing. I'd call up whoever...and let them play it out. These guys are a bunch of passionless wussies. I honestly don't care if this entire team was gutted except for Mark, Danks, Bobby and Fields. Everybody else can pretty much go take a flyin leap into oblivion and start from scratch...and that includes all the front office and coaches. This is the first time in my life I'm embarrassed to say I'm a Sox fan. Of course I always will be...but goddamn.
