Damage control from the Wally Backman abortion! The new ownership looked like a bunch of f***wipes with the whole Wally thing....so now they're scrambling to make up for it.
-
Why the f*** would the DBacks take on Sosa's contract...or want him for that matter...unless the Yanks or Cubs pay a MAJOR portion of it.
-
I think Seattle is nuts for spending that much money on Sexson....they just might have blown 12.5M this year on him. There's a reason the DBacks gave more money to Glaus than to Sexson. Glaus' surgery was on his right shoulder...due to a collision. Sexson's injury is to his lead batting shoulder...and injury that will probably flair up again and again. The DBacks just didn't feel it was worth the risk to give him that kind of money only to see him on the shelf again and that's what their doctors felt would happen.
-
I fart in his general direction!
-
yeah...if ya like roastin yer nuts off for 6 months outta the year! Believe me...4 to 5 straight months of 105-110 sucks after a while.
-
Even for as accurate as that is....he shoulda won a HELL of alot more. His run support was frickin' ridiculous. I bet probably 10 games this year they scored 1 run or less for him. I'm too lazy to look it up...but I know it had to have been at least 6 or 7 games of 1 run or less.
-
How bout Reinsdorf selling the team. That'd be a nice move!!!
-
Everybody hated Dennis Rodman too until he joined the Bulls. I say who cares...I bet he wouldn't mind joining the Sox.
-
Waaaaaaaaaaaay too much money for Glaus. They don't even know if he'll be healthy.
-
I guess that's what I'm asking. Why would they offer arbitration to someone who's "damaged goods" without having the benefit of an exam. It seems that should be the team's right.
-
I understand that part of it...but what I'm asking is why isn't there something that states the Sox have legal rights to view "their" property.
-
I mean if they don't subject him to an exam....or even let the Sox have a look. Then why would the Sox lose the compensation picks. It just doesn't seem right.
-
Not to be forgotten as an ex-Sox....is this the same Gene? Gene Lamont was named manager of Scranton-Wilkes Barr of the IL. You go Gene.....at least ya gotta admire his spirit.
-
Dellucci has actually played very well as a starter...and when needed is an awesome bat off the bench.
-
ALWAYS injured. Would probably want $4.5-5M too. I'd take Dellucci over Batista.
-
Lets see...how much does Vladdy make? And how much can Dellucci be had for? I thought that was most people's argument about not going after Beltran...the Benjamins! So here's a pretty decent replacement for Maggs who comes cheap (which I thought was the point)...so to spend money in other areas.....kkkkk.
-
He's played mostly RF...especially when he was with the DBacks. Alot of people out here were pissed they traded him and didn't bring him back. That's kind of why I think he'll end up back in Arizona...but I really like the guy. He doesn't have a bad arm.
-
I hadn't even heard David Dellucci mentioned. With all the talk of Dye...Dellucci is a better overall contact hitter...has some pop in his bat...plays great defense and is a very solid clubhouse guy. The man can play all three outfield positions as well. On top of that...he'd come fairly cheap...probably$1M or less per season...which is right up Reinsdorf's alley. They guy's a solid player...and there's about 7 teams that have offered him low contracts without the Sox even showing any interest. I don't get it...I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat.
-
Uh...no...he's not! He actually hates playin there and b****ed about it all the time when he had to. I really wouldn't want any part of Hillbilly Big Truck Brand.
-
and why is that?!? Cause they got the ball rolling with Pudge...showed great improvement...and are willing to spend some quiche. Not a tough formula to figure out IMO.
-
Well...you answered one of the questions right there with money. And why not the Sox? It's been said that he really likes Chicago...he knows the American League...moreso the Central and knows the Sox would have a legit chance at winning. Maybe a little of the Ozzie factor could play in. Oh what the hell...who am I kidding. Let's just go after some retreads like Dye or whoever and pray some of these guys have career years.
-
Beltran IS NOT gonna get $200....or ten years. With the market today I truly doubt that anybody will sign people to those types of contracts anymore. You wouldn't give him $16 or 17M for 6-8 years? Mags gone (-$14M), Valentin gone (-$5M), trade PK (-$8-9M). The money is there...it's called being proactive. Everybody b****es about not having a World Series appearance or trophy. Look at Arizona (extreme example)...look at Florida...they spent...they won...they recovered. Although Arizona screwed themselves with the Schilling deal...at least they have a WS trophy already...and for as bad as they were this year, alot of it had to do with Sexson going down and Gonzales hurt.
-
I mean hell...why not make a splash...attract some other people than as well showing the Sox mean business? I know, I know...we're talkin' Tight-ass Reinsdorf and all...but why not. If it doesn't work out and the payroll stress is too much...hell...it's not like you're stuck with the guy. If the Rangers can unload ARod...the Sox could sure as hell unload Beltran to somebody and get a decent package in return. I'm so tired of this one-dimensional thinking...GODDAMN...be aggresive!
-
So did Mantei... I'm talkin Koch in a Sox uni Koch.
-
No thanks...I'd rather have Farnsworth. You thought Koch was bad...this guy blew more leads and gave up more game-winning homers in a 3 week stretch than Koch has in all of his time with the sox. Maybe a change would be good for him...but he looked AWFUL this past year. Mantei = Koch2
