When the hell do we start worrying about Konerko??
Wanne replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
OK...I'm not Mr "Check the old tape guy".....and is this just me or has PK taken a completely different approach at the plate. He lays the bat on his shoulder and kind of leans back a little and really doesn't look set until right when the pitcher pretty much is releasing it. Maybe that's something I just never noticed he did...but I don't think so. Either way...I'm not a hitting coach...but it seems like he's not ready and can't make any adjustments. Somebody help me out here...it bugs the piss outta me watching him get ready to hit. He always hasn't done that has he? -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Oh, I'm pretty positive he'll never touch KC again. Who would want to stay there, honestly? There's no hope for that team to even come close to contending for years and years. Ghandi would jump at the chance! http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-csep12.html

Hopefully...no letdowns. Separated at birth.... Freddy... or...The Rock

If Drew's there....I take him!...Boras or no Boras. Do you honestly think that Drew will hold out for 2 straight years...he'd simply be committing financial suicide IMO.
-
Yeah...and right underneath it is an article by Neyer on why the Sox won't win the Central...pffffft
-
anybody think that Stephen Drew might be sitting there?....and do you snag him? I'm thinkin there's almost a snowball's chance in hell that he signs with the DBacks now. The new ownership group pretty much dicked him on what Colangelo agreed with him on...so they're far apart. It wouldn't surprise me if he was there at 15....but then again do you say nada cause he's represented by Boras?

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) My email to Bechtel... If your ultimate point is that it's frustrating to be a White Sox fan...I have to agree with you. It ain't easy. We dont settle for losing like cubs fans do. So when we lose year after year it sucks...it eats away at you. It pisses us off, ruins our day, but we dont quit. We count the days till spring training. We don't say ah who cares. We want better. We keep coming back with new found optimism so when it does happen we can say "I was there back when..." The Sox are a hard working team that makes the best of what they have and that epitomizes the makeup of a lot of us fans. We have had a total of 6 things to be happy about in the last 87 years... A World Series title: 1917 Pennants: 1919, 1959 and Division titles: 1983, 1993, 2000 6 things!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell yeah it's frustrating If those things make the sox hard to root for then I agree, but all you listed were some jackass comments...about our stadium, our announcer and our coach. I got news for ya pal...I don't want to win for losing...I don't want to be lovable losers. Not caring about winning games doesn't make a team better to root for. I don't want a broken down urinal for a ballpark. I want the state of the art facility we have. I like a biased announcer that roots like a fan and I like a fiery coach that is just one of the guys. If those are really your reasons for the White Sox being the worst team to root for, then you should stick to writing about NASCAR. Flat tire here, bad pit crew there...that's clearly more your speed...cause you don't know s*** about the Sox. Nice job dude... I had to send him one myself...but I wasn't as eloquent....just basically said "f*** Off"! pfffffffffft....a f***ing NASCAR writer doggin on the Sox!?! Knock yourselves out guys: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/email/bechtel/

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I can no longer stomach ESPN. Join the club. I can't even sit through Sportscenter anymore. Their entire broadcasts have all become jokes. Plus...their coverage of today's nfl draft was absolutely BRUTAL!!! Almost every person on that station is a blowhard and they just try to "out talk" each other to come off as knowledgable...and end up lookin like a bunch of dips***s.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) My initial impression was that it might have been an achilles strain. I think he'll be ok though, as he seemed to be getting better quickly after it happened. Very well could be just cramps and nothing serious. -
Awful Experience at Sox Park (Cellular Field)

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) ...grow a pair. Now THAT'S funny dude! It's called being in public. No matter where you go...for any event...there's gonna be rude-ass people who are gonna annoy the s*** outta ya. For as often as I'd like to smack crap outta someone when I go to venues...nothing changes...from the ballpark...to sitting next to the blabbin asses at the movies. All you can do is hope the people you're around aren't complete morons. Or maybe try this....next time go Postal! -
Nice....this plus the Royals just threw a 4 spot on the board at the Homerdome!

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Always glad to see a win and that was a hell of a game from Carl and the set-up men. But I'm beginning to lose confidence in Shingo. I hope that he proves me wrong soon. here's hoping this is not the case....but I'm losing confidence in him as well. Shingo = Byung Yun Kim

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) I beleive this is very old news. Wasn't this said right in the beginning as the reason why the Sox were down on him? This is not anything new that was said by Ozzie or the White Sox organization. This was said when we acquired Garcia. So you don't read first lines of threads?!?...

I saw this in the Trib and had never been aware of it: "But then rumors began circulating—and they recently were confirmed by Sox manager Ozzie Guillen—that Sox pitchers didn't like throwing to Olivo." Anybody ever really heard this before? Ya know...I've pitched all my life...in college and still in a men's hardball league out here....and I know there are some guys I hate throwing too...for various reasons. Wonder what the deal was with Olivo.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) That's what I thought too, so how do you explain a stress fracture to the toe that gets little pressure on it? By running like a big clod in the outfield...or fartin around and coming down on it wrong. I wonder if he was on the main field or one of the practice fields? I play in a men's league that plays out at Peoria Sports complex after spring training ends...and on the practice fields...there's these HUGE friggin commercial sprinkler heads in the outfield that are dangerous as s*** IMO. I pitch and play center and I remember on a few occasions going after fly balls and stepping on the heads (not good with metal cleats). I also remember laying out for a ball scraping right across one (that felt good!). So I am kind of curious as to how it actually happened.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) If it's that, he should be fine pretty soon, no? In terms of stress on it, is it any worse because it's his left foot? My guess is that's probably the least problematic spot for a hairline fracture for a left-handed pitcher. There may be a little discomfort...but most of the pressure is on the front toe and you're not coming down on it. I bet he's not out very long. As for BMac...wouldn't it be nice to finally have a young gun step up and produce. Seems like every other team does and there motto used to be: To beat the Sox...start and unknown rook! Shagging fly balls....you gotta be s***tin me!?!?

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 05:57 AM) I was there too. You're right about the homer, and I agree that it didn't seem like there was any delay, but Tanner was a good manager and probably had been looking for Allen long before he needed him. But nobody ever hit the scoreboard at old Comiskey. Allen did hit the centerfield bleachers, and only 7 people ever did that - Jimmie Foxx, Greenberg, Alex Johnson, Allen, Zisk, Tony Armas Senior and George Bell. Of those, all but Johnson and Armas also had roofshots at Old Comiskey. This is from the 1991 Sox media guide. Thanks for the info Ghost...I remember one game I was at in the right field upper deck...closest to the scoreboard...and I remember a shot he hit (against Baltimore I believe)...and it went to about the next to last row in the centerfield bleachers...and it wasn't a big towering shot...it was a line drive. Damn that guy was strong! Speaking of old Comiskey...I thought this was kinda cool: http://mall.ballparks.com/product_info.php?products_id=488

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I remember that game. In fact, I graduated from Grammar School that day. I could swear though, that home run went into the upper deck in left field. Anyone else remember that? BTW, Sparky Lyle was one of the best relief pitchers in the game at the time. When he came in to close out a game, it was considered almost automatic. I absolutely remember that game and was there. It was a lower deck shot South Side. Actually he hit it into a fairly decent wind and I swear the thing didn't get more that 20 feet off the ground...it was a friggin screamin' line drive. Yeah...Sparky was the s*** at that time too. It's funny though because I don't remember there being any delay waiting for him...and I pretty much recall there were two outs when he batted. The story said Tanner wanted him to hit with one out....so I guess that makes sense having to track him down. I remember seein him sittin' in the dugout smokin cigs too. That story's funny as hell. He's still my favorite White Sox player of all time!...I believe he hit the scoreboard at old Comisky too.

then why the hell would he keep a bloody sock that he wore?!? Whoo-pee...he donates it to the Hall?!? A bloody sock?!?...why the hell is that Hall worthy?!? I swear...this guy just LOOOOOOOVES the attention. He comes off as this unassuming dude...but every chance he gets...he exploits himself. Although I think he's a hell of a pitcher...man...this dudes ego is bigger than JLo's ass! I heard enough of him out here in Phoenix...and it still goes on...and on...

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Mike Jackson Pussed out the first game back.. Its over and done with IMO.. The Sox had a chance to make a statement.. and instead laid down. That pretty much sums it up! I wouldn't say it's done with though...not when Hunter starts throwin his nads around like that. I think it's gonna get nasty this year with them....CAN'T WAIT!
