QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I don't see the full truth ever coming out. Both sides will give their side of the story. The more stories I read about Maggs the less I like him. I do...the truth will come out when Mags plays about 40 or 50 games this year. The Sox offer was still on the table even when Mags was hurt...that's why the Sox didn't offer arbitration. I'm at the point of....who cares...the Sox moved on and so did Maggliallaboutthequiche. Next chapter.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) I may be complaining about nothing, but I found Gammon's assessment of our team to be rather stale. He simply states our additions without adding much analysis; good or bad. Probably cut and pasted White Sox offseason information from the same "source" responsible for Rob Neyer's piece. That's because he doesn't know s*** about the White Sox. Much like Pedro Gomez. He used to write for the AZ Republic out here and some of his crap he wrote it was like he just scanned the net and took a few notes. There was a few times I wrote him and called him on it...especially a couple of years ago when before the season started, on his preseason power poll he had the Sox about 2 or 3 slots from the bottom. I basically just accused him of hearsay and crap research and that he really didn't know crap about a majority of the teams he was accessing. As for Gammons...he's just pullin stuff outta his ass to fill up space. The day he writes something I find relevant...what did Garth say..."when monkeys fly outta my ass...".

Personally...I'm sick of f***ing hearin about the guy. WHO GIVES A f***!!! He's gone...he's not on the Sox....he's a whiny, greedy little prick. I don't feel any sentiment whatsoever for the dude...did he ever carry the Sox on his back to a pennant?!? I couldn't give a f*** less what he does in Detroit...good for him and his fat contract....that those morons (the only ones who offered you s*** too) offered you. f*** him...case closed!

QUOTE(kane0730 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) I think Big Frank is in Mr. Baseball. Yep...he's the hotshot rookie who takes Tom Sellecks job...with the Yankees.

QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Counsell lives out by you and really wanted to go back there. Maybe now Jim...but I know he started out as a Midwestern boy and went to Notre Dame under Pat Murphy (ASU current HC). Didn't he start out in the Milwaukee system before he went for his first stint with the DBacks. I just like the guy...woulda loved to have had him on the Sox.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Did anyone notice the press conference.. Sammy got a new home, and how this was sammys team? Umm Did someone fail to mention to Sosa, that they have a all-star SS who puts up better numbers? Baltimore will regret this deal. No doubt. All I heard was "me"...."my"..."I". No team concept whatsoever. I think the guy's a complete egotistic, self-infatuated BOOB! "I going to ween de crowd!"....what about helping your team win dips***!!! He'll wear out his welcome in no time!

QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) IF Az is looking for a defensive minded CFer, and still give their young CFer some time to develop at the ML level, getting a LH bat like Timo is a decent fit. While Timo by himself might not get a deal done for Cintron, add in a bullpen arm from the sox and it sounds reasonable. Cintron really doesn't fit in w/ Ariz, with Royce, counsell, Kata and Hairston around. Not to mention Craig Counsell who they signed this past off season. The DBacks were one of the teams I truly thought the Sox would try to hit up for one of their middle infielders. I like Cintron...and Kata (even though he hasn't done much since his initial outburst). And to think...Craig Counsell was there for the taking (and I thought he would have been a great signing).

QUOTE(kdhargo @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) If you've just got $200 to blow like that, may as well put it on Tampa Bay. At 200-1 odds, that's quite the payoff... Not like I'm loaded or anything...and I wasn't the one that threw out the wager...I just accepted it. Anyway...I've got till August or September to save up just in case. I like the bet. Hell...I won a case of long-neck Miller Lites last year betting that the Sox would have a better record than the Royals (he threw that out there too). Maybe if I just accept bets instead of being the initiator it's a better thing. Tampa Bay huh.....knock yourself out on that bet dude. I think mines a little safer.
-
Those HAVE to be ancient odds...the cubs 8-1?!?...PUH-LEASE!
-
With a cub fan for 200 bills (he threw the amount out there)...he said the Cubs would win more games this year than the Sox. Ya think I should be countin' my chickens before they're hatched? Personally...I jumped all over that bet...and I usually don't bet on my teams (I think it's the kiss of death).

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Peoria is a cool stadium to watch a game. I'll say...since I live about 5 or 10 minutes from there and play summer and fall league games there too. I personally like it best...Surprise isn't bad if you know the back way into instead of the clusterf*** Bell Road way. And Maryvale (Brewers) is good too...cause not many people go that often. It's all good though....best time of the year out here! If anybody's interested...I could probably steer ya to some pretty decent places for night time entertainment.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Off topic... what happened to Drew's brother? did he agree to terms? He still hasn't signed yet. Another Boras cluster f***. I think the DBacks were hoping to use some of the quiche they got from the Yankees or something. The dude wants to be paid like Weaver....like he's a top 3 pick or something.
-
Yeah...well my mom had a better arm than Lance Johnson did...and he was still a pretty decent CF. I say Pods in center and move ARow over to left. I rather have the speed in the middle to cover both gaps.

A typical morning at the Tribune.... http://faultgame.com/images/anykey.wav

Could be another case of some writer sensationalizing what really happened. It's sounds like everybody over there on that team in SF...for some reason really didn't like the guy...and would take any chance to "sensationalize" some thing that gets all blown out of proportion. Maybe he really didn't even do it or just tried to fake it and went a little too far....and ya know how butt hurt people in San Francisco get....LITERALLY!!!!!
-
Or are they really just that stupid. I know it's not a big deal really...just kind of pissed me off. In the photo gallery for Soxfest....they say AJ Pierz....Pods and "Jerome" Dye stand at the podium. Jerome?!?....come on dips***s...get it right!!!!
-
I mean ever since they moved the plate up and decreased the dimensions, The Cell has become kind of a band box. With losing some big bats (Mags, Lee, Valentin)...and trying to get a "Ozzie-type" team...and the focus being on pitching...do you think it would be smart to include increasing the dimensions back to what the were?
-
If you get a chance to get Castillo...I think you do it. How many people that are for the Iguchi signing have actually seen him play?!?...is he an upgrade over Willie Harris? Although I'm not thrilled about giving up Marte for Castillo...I think it's the best move to make since what are the prospects of getting a 2B down the road, whether it's from the farm or otherwise. Hoping that it's Cotts instead of Marte (Cotts, Marte and a lower level prospect). I'd be shocked if KW pulled the trigger on this though. Like alot of you have said...one of the things that I'm pretty happy with to date is the bullpen going into next year. Losing Marte would suck...but if it meant adding Castillo...I think I gotta pull the trigger on that one and PRAY that Cotts or Munioz come through big time.
-
Can I ask why they only signed him for one year. I thought I read that he's not eligable to be a free agent until 2006. Do the Sox have an option on next year. I'd hate to have this guy for just one season...I mean...FINALLY...a catcher.
-
Squeeze me in a couple of more years and I'd throw in Lamarr Hoyt from 83 (24-10).
-
Here's another thing...and I thought I read something questioning this a while back...but is everybody 100% sure that Vasquez is completely healthy. Didn't I read that somewhere where they were questioning his shoulder or something? I'd give up Garland and Everett...or maybe a mid-prospect (hopefully Borchard) for Vasquez...but I sure would hate to give up Anderson or Sweeney in the deal.

I was banned at WSI cause I made some reference about a thread by this guy from KY b****in about the radio out there in KY and TN b****in about the Sox...all I said was who gives a s*** about a region who has no baseball...isn't knowledgeable about the Sox...and thinks relative humidity is the sweat that drips off yer nads when when yer humpin yer cousin or some crap like that...not that big a deal. Not that I give a s***....I like this board alot better anyway! Some pretty knowledgable dudes....and Steph!
-
I'm mean seriously...you gotta be s***tin me...PK IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! Period! Just who is supposed to be the HR, RBI guy if you trade Paulie? Be serious. I don't care if you got RJ...or whoever for him...you just CANNOT lose Mags, CLee,Paulie and even Valentin all in the same year. And please...like Dye will replace those guys?!? The argument of HRs vs basehits is bulls*** with this theory. Plus...you don't even know when Frank is gonna be full strength. So the next time anybody starts to write about PK being traded...just think about it.

"The Mets also could get into the Beltran bidding or go after one more Boras client, former White Sox Magglio Ordonez, whose stock seems to be plummeting after he backed out of promises for an early December workout for interested teams." Well that's just a friggin shame! :fyou

I think he's the second coming of Kevin Orie!
