  1. With his arbitration status, the longer you wait, the less chance you are able to work out an extension (but conversely, the longer you wait, the more likely something changes that makes an extension seem like a bad idea)
  2. A- to A+ is the smallest jump in the MiLB. You can ruin a player by promoting him aggressively, but not by putting an A- player in A+ a year too early.
  3. If the Tigs want to improve their bullpen, we can work something out if we get the Cabrera kid back in return. He's blocking their top prospect anyway.
  4. Don Cooper is going to have to do a lot to make me not trust his handling of pitchers. He's been doing it for quite a while and has been very good at keeping his arms healthy.
  5. Dunn looked like the Sox player trying hardest to get into a fight during the mix-up
  6. LOL the bullpen charge was my favorite. Let's jog out there and stand with our hands on our hips!
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) I'm reading the thread on it. Josh Fields was everyone's centerpiece. Other big names included were the likes of Lance Broadway, and Jerry Owens It's a good thing we held out then
  8. Yet there is only one franchise that can say with certainty that they are in a better position to win than Chicago. f***ing wannabes
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) We were pretty close to trading for Cabrera though iirc. Didnt have the pieces and the Tigers swoop in. What could have been. I believe one of the hold ups is that we didn't want to take back Dontrelle Willis
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) Bonds and it is not close. Doesn't count. He intentionally walked 120 times in a season. That's just stupid.
  11. I still think that Miggy isn't smart, he's just too supremely talented to hardly ever look fooled up there. I think his pitch recognition is simply other-worldly and his ability to convert the recognition into a result is just as impressive. I don't think he has to try hard at all to be this good.
  12. I knew there was no way Cabrera would let Chris off the hook for striking him out earlier
  13. I guess Alexei is out there defensively, so it must have been a cramp. Hooray
  14. Bulls fans are very bored. We are better constructed to beat the Heat than any team in basketball. We'll see if it works. It didn't once, with less shooting and experience, two years ago. Maybe two tries will be the charm.
  15. I think we are way, way overvaluing Chris in this thread. He's not Jesus Christ
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) I think that's GM speak. They've already set their sights on realistic returns for these players. Right, "steep" just refers to a comparison of asking price compared to expected price
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Stunning news...not Your 2013 White Sox
  18. Alexei came up lame there, grabbing hamstring. Unclear if a pull or a cramp. Looked more like a pull to me, but what do I know
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) The longer the team feels until it will be competitive, the less sense it is to not at least listen to offers for Sale. Hahn isn't stupid. If he's not even listening about Sale or at least trying to gauge what a team would give up to get him, he isn't thinking long term re-build. Stranger things have happened. The 1976 White Sox couldn't hit. 1977 they became the hitmen. As long as the Sox have starting pitching, it makes no sense going into a lengthy rebuild. Hitters will be available. Agree. You rebuild when your whole team is bad, not when half of it is bad
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I'll absolutely watch this documentary. And for those keeping score at home, Steve detests Hawk as a broadcaster.
  21. The reason it's on the floor IS to inconvenience you. You have to actively think about what it means every day because it's there.
  22. You could hear the excitement in the scout's voice on that video. Pretty neat. I'm sure he'll be a major leaguer soon - might he be considered a Marco Paddy player as he came out of Toronto? Not international, though
  23. I just can't imagine a team with Carmelo on it being a great team. He wins games on his own, but he tends to minimize his supporting cast more than anything else.
  24. Defense was caught TOTALLY off guard by the 3rd degree inclusion. I'm not sure if it will stick, but that just reeks of brilliance on the part of the prosecution. It makes me think of the bureaucracy episode of Futurama: "you are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct"
