  1. Don't tell my fantasy team about this. He and Giancarlo are getting too comfortable on my DL
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) I've gotta say, if I'm drafting I'm trying to maximize my chances at getting an MVP/Cy Young with every single pitch until fairly late in the top 10 rounds. And by pitch, I mean pick
  3. I've gotta say, if I'm drafting I'm trying to maximize my chances at getting an MVP/Cy Young with every single pitch until fairly late in the top 10 rounds.
  4. Sox normally don't mess with a guy like this until he struggles. Should be a wonderful experiment.
  5. I like it. We should be able to get saving with Anderson pick, plus this guy would only be going pro if drafted in this round. Good stuff.
  6. Dunn hitting more line drives means there will be more outs like that. With the way the ball had been flying, very surprised to see that one didn't go. Can't be mad at Hawk for saying what I was thinking.
  7. Austin Wilson must have signability concerns, I would think. I hope he comes to us.
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) Manaea and Dozier pretty decent tandem for the Royals. They should get something done with the money they will be saving. I don't think signing Manaea is anywhere near a certainty. Huge gamble.
  9. Any chance Wilson could fall to the Sox? (dreaming)
  10. My thoughts on the pick will be published soon. Overall, I have to think the lack of good info on him may be related to the fact that nobody was going to Mississippi juco games to do a lot of scouting.
  11. QUOTE (aboz56 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) Baseball America: "Tim Anderson could crack next year’s Prospect Handbook as Chicago’s top prospect. If he’s not, it will at least be a spirited debate." http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2013-...round-analysis/ That says more about Hawkins than it does Anderson.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) Yeah, some site is listing the right DOB but saying he's 22. I saw that. Confused the hell out of me
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 08:09 PM) Jake, where did you see that Tim Anderson is 19? The DOB posted on the live broadcast. Also, here: mlb.com
  14. I actually love this pick. Really high upside. I didn't like JP Crawford at all. We went for a great athlete, which I like, but we got a guy who makes contact. I think he sticks at SS. Excited for him and a good change of pace from guys that K a lot.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 08:03 PM) Wow, totally thought he and J.P. Crawford were both high school kids. I can't believe Anderson is already 22 years old. He better not take a long time. He is not 22. He is 19. I've seen the incorrect date posted around. According to MLB Draft broadcast, he is 19.
  16. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) Man oh man Harold Reynolds is picking up one EASY pay check tonight. Worse than Barkley in the NCAA tournament
  17. Very disappointed to miss out on Smith.
  18. Gray goes 3. Here is where things begin to get interesting.
  19. I hope they continue giving each team's pick this much attention. I'd love to hear this much about our guy, even if he isn't there to do backflips
  20. Bryant is best player in the draft IMO. Sucks that the Cubs got him.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) It makes sense. Kaplan being wrong about the Cubs would be nice as well, although he doesn't bother me as much as he bothers some. He seems like a good guy. I think he's a good guy, he's just the worst homer.
  22. All I've been hearing is that Cubs want a pitcher because they are concerned about pitching depth in organization, which I think is a dumb reason to pick a pitcher. Gray is good though.
  23. I still think you're crazy to pass on Bryant.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) I understand what you are saying. I took your point the wrong way. Do you think Houston could "double dip" again though with talent and just roll the dice and take Gray/Appel and Manaea? It sounds like they will double dip by taking Gray or a guy like Moran for low $ and try to spend more on someone else, maybe Manaea. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Man it is very very unlikely but Dominic Smith at #17 would be the best case scenario tonight. I didn't think the Sox had a chance at Hawkins last year and they got him though. I will keep my fingers crossed. I love Smith at that pick. A young, but advanced bat.
  25. I'm on the Dominic Smith bandwagon if we are to take a position player. I might like him more than any pitcher around at 17, too. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 02:59 PM) Two things would have to happen. They would have to get a number ahead of time that they could manage, while at the same time, finding some underslot guys for the next rounds to make up the difference. Right. Definitely takes homework, you cannot pick this guy without a lot of chatting in advance.
