  1. Hey mods, Do you think its time for an all-encompassing pinned Soxfest thread?
  2. Big Eckstein booster. In fact, I've been a fan of him before he won the player's poll for getting the most out of the least talent. If Kenny wants "grinders," look no further than Eck. Plus, I remember watching him at USCF last year and he was a Sox killer. He is so pesty and he is always on base. Kenny gets an A- on this off-season if he nails Eck or Cora. He would have addressed every single team need and brought in a lot of new faces. I'm really hoping he finds a way to put Eck in Silver and Black, but he will be competeing with the Redbirds.
  3. Relax shooter. I'm not the resident "angry guy," although we do have a few. I gave my piece on what I considered to be a bad signing. If you were to read more of my posts, before spouting off on something you have no knowledge of, you would learn that. You're rocking the boat. Enjoy Soxtalk, don't single posters out.
  4. Listen rook...don't come out and admit that everyone has an opinion of their own and then say yours is the correct one. Best rotation in the league huh? Wow. Credibility much? EDIT: I will give a little more on this topic if/when Kenny signs our middle infielder. If he signs our middle infielder, I'll give him props on a very productive off-season. Before I go any further, I'll wait to see if Kenny nails Eck or Cora.
  5. Clement is undoubtedly a question mark. Who would you rather have, Clement or El Duque? I'll take the former anyday. Major duribility questions with this guy. Whatever. On the plus side, we will not be etching Grilli in the order until after the all-star break.
  6. You guys are killing me. I can't believe your doing backflips over El f***ing Duque. All of a sudden this guy is Nolan Ryan cause he is on the Southside. This isn't a first-class signing...get over it. There are going to be people out there that see our bottom three starters as question marks. I'm one of them
  7. Question marks at 3, 4, and 5. Yup, I'm serious.
  8. Sorry. This is it. El Duque is the answer. Our starting rotation is awful. Buehrle Garcia El Duque Contreras Garland :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke This guy is not the answer. I'm expecting a second place finish. We have HUGE question marks at 3, 4, and 5. Garbage.
  9. Twins. How the f*** does Kenny expect this team to stay competitive in a playoff hunt with a bottom of the rotation that includes: #3-El Duque #4-Contreras #5-Garland That 3, 4, 5 will land us a second place finish. Its awful.
  10. I don't like the signing. We got desperate. At least we have a five man rotation. Bring on a middle infielder and lets call it an off-season.
  11. Not so much. Boozer was under contract with the Jazz at the time of his request. He wanted to be let out of his current contract and assured the Jazz his new contract would be with them. Davis was not under contract. Kenny knew what he was doing. This is a standard move.
  12. Alex Cora and a starting pitcher and I will sing the praises of successful off-season. Until then, he's on my s*** list. Now, we wait.
  13. Bruce Levine still reporting Kenny has interest, having talked to his agent this morning. Perhaps Bruce hasn't read the website yet?
  14. Oh my goodness... That post made me realize how fantastic this signing could be. Any scenario that has Willie riding the pine is fine by me.
  15. So...Kenny disappoints once again. Ben will be the starting catcher in 2005. Steff had this one sniffed out for months now.
  16. Thanks Jim. I would classify that as good news.
  17. Is Cora a possibility? Has he been talked about by Kenny or any of the Sox brass? Are we putting too much stock into the brotherhood aspect? I think Cora would be a great signing, but, is is this all just speculation?
  18. Does he happen to play shortstop for the Angels?
  19. Wasn't it Buehrle that had the biggest beef with AJ? Is AJ going to catch him? Are you implying we will have three catchers on the roster, or are you implying that AJ will not be brought in?
  20. Well, until Kenny says he is done with his off-season signings, I think its best to not call it a "bad" signing. I'm not a Davis fan, but I can live with paying him $1M if Kenny does, in fact, sign AJ. Supposedly, we are the most aggressive club pursuing AJ. Even though we are the Chicago White Sox, a one year, one million dollar deal with Ben Freaking Davis is not going to break the bank. I hope Kenny dishes out a hearty serving of crow in the next couple days.
  21. Gibbons and Cabrera sign elsewhere. This has got to be hard on you.
  22. I don't care what he's "worth." If Kenny signs AJ, I don't care how badly he overpayed Davis. Personally, I don't think $1M was grossly overpaying.
  23. Thats not what Jas meant. He meant that "fourth team" is in fact JD Drew. The Dodgers are looking to pull the trigger if they can get Drew to sign. So, I suppose there really isn't a fourth "team," just a fourth player.
  24. If AJ signs elsewhere it will have zero correlation to this signing. Davis signs for $1M to become the backup catcher and personal catcher for Buehrle. AJ would sign here to play everyday. Earlier reports today had Kenny speaking with AJ's agent about a possible deal. We are in the mix with about 6 teams (I'm not sure how serious some clubs are). C'mon, would Kenny sign Davis this afternoon after speaking with AJ's agent about bringing him in as a starter? This deal can not hurt the Sox. If we sign AJ, we get Ben Davis as a backup for $1M; if we don't sign AJ, we have a starting catcher at a steal.
