  1. For all 38 of us interested in Clement. Cbssportsline now reports that the Red Sox, Angels, and Padres are showing increased interest in Clement. They report that Pedro's move to the Mets may have ignited a bidding war over Clement and they feel the Red Sox will win. Yikes. Its about the time we really have to start praying Kenny offers a generous contract and hope the Chicago interest helps out.
  2. I think Kenny may really want to look at Hudson now, ESPECIALLY after the Ginter deal...and I'll tell ya why. Beane wanted an MLB-ready second baseman and a young arm in exchange for Tim Hudson. Milwaukee just helped out whoever wants Hudson in a major way. Now, Kenny might be able to swing a deal for Hudson using Garland and some lower level prospects instead of Willie (I know some people still support the little s***). Hudson's asking price was just knocked down a notch with the Ginter deal. He won't come at such an inflated price now...book it.
  3. Could an Everett, Sweeny, Borchard, Garland, Marte deal get it done? They wanted an MLB starting outfielder: check! They wanted a top prospect: check! They wanted Jon s***head Garland: check! They wanted Damaso Marte: check! Would that get it done? and if it did, we would be ok with that? thoughts...
  4. Not a hockey guy, Never have been, never will be...that said, I think its an absolute travesty what they are doing do the league right now. How do you destroy an already dwindling fan-base...bingo! Sorry everyone, I hope you get your hockey back in the near future. Go Wolves.
  5. Kenny: Carlos, you've been traded. CLee: Ok boss, to what team? Kenny: The Milwaukee Brewers. CLee: f***. I imagine it went something like that.
  6. He's a Boras guy Keith. He'll demand about the same as Derek Lowe. Although I like Milwood, the chances of him coming to the South Side are slim to none, and we all know where slim went. He can be a horse when healthy and tends to be a groundball pitcher, although last year's numbers wouldn't indicate that.
  7. Uribe will always be a streaky player. As Hawk said, with a swing that ugly, we need to be happy with whatever numbers he produces. He'll go on tears, but he'll also slump with the worst of em'. Thus is the nature of Juan Uribe. IMO, Complimented with the right SS/2B, it would be one of the better middile infields in the AL.
  8. Couldn't disagree with you more. When there is a buzz about a team, it usually reflects in Ws and Ws usually mean more $. If we are already the favorites in the division, Randy would almost guarntee an AL Central title. Although attendance was down last year at the BOB, look at the numbers on days where Randy was starting, its histarical. He was the ONLY draw last year and they still did ok. The Sox would not fold with Randy Johnson. EDIT: With Johnson comes instant credibility.
  9. I'm hearing whispers from the Up North that Jacque will be a starting OF for the Flubs. Its just a matter of time. Hendry is going to make it happen though. So long Jacque. Enjoy the success of former Twink-gone Cub LaToya Hawkins.
  10. It's December 15th shooter. Relax. Its a long offseason.
  11. I've been saying this from day one. Ask anyone.
  12. If Randy Johnson came over to the White Sox, do you realize the PR explosion that would set off? We would immediately be "contenders." His PR ability alone makes this a worth while deal. For example, Steve Spurrier taking the job at South Carloina. They opened up Sportscenter with a f***ing South Carolina story. Now, imagine if that was the most dominant pitcher of his era. He'd put asses in the seats, he'd generate a nation-wide buzz over our team, and he'd immediately put us as favorites in our division. Garland, starting OF, Marte, prospect...Pull the trigger Kenny. If he is serious about making a splash, this would be it. If not, sign Clement and let's call it an offseason. I'd be happy with both.
  13. He cashed in big time. Wow. How quickly we forget about our time in St. Louis.
  14. No kidding qwert. Those have got to be the two most puzzling moves of the offseason thus far. The only reason I could possibily see them making those two signings would be in an attempt to lure Randy to stay in Arizona....other than that, yikes. It was very NY Met like, was it not?
  15. He ain't going anywhere. The only situation that was brought up was the possibility of trading to him Arizona to get that three-way trade into motion. Newsflash: The D'Backs do not need Paulie on their roster. These last two signings have indicated that although they want to remain competitve, they are not just looking to dump salary. Paulie has a hefty contract, and to take on a player with no where to put him, and a nasty contract would be absurd. Rest assured, Paulie will be the starting 1B in 2005. Book it.
  16. No one wanted to see him leave. Many of us wanted Paulie to get traded over CLee. This dates all the way back to when Kenny made it known that one of the two were going to get dished this offseason. By trading either Paulie or CLee, the Sox would free up enough dough to sign a significant free agent in the offseason (in this case a SP). So, although we didn't want to see him leave, many of us understood he had to if we wanted to free up enough money to stay competitive. It happened to be CLee that got trade...so we'll have Paulie all year long, no worries.
  17. Dustin Hermanson the fifth starter? :puke :puke No way. I think Kenny knows if he tries to pull that garbage he's going to get roasted by the fans, especially at Soxfest. The only way Kenny could ever justify making Hermanson the fifth starter is if we signed a BIG NAME position player free agent, and none of us see that happening. The money should go to Matt Clement or another free agent starting pitcher. This is day four of my advocating the overpaying of Matt Clement stance.
  18. Priority #1 SP Priority #2 SP Priority #3 SP Priority #4 Maybe a catcher. Kenny has shown zero interest. Ben Davis will be the starting catcher in 2005.
  19. That Reds deal may have dotted the i's and put the Halo around Clements head. This is day two of my advocating the overpaying of Matt Clement stance. It needs to happen.
  20. Awful idea. Milton would get lit up like a at USCF.
  21. That report is total bulls***. First, Beane is in love with Kotsay. It would take a lot more than Scott f***ing Podsednik to aquire him. Second, Podsednik is not even Beane's type of player. Third, do you really think we'd get Tim Hudson and Mark Kotsay for Jon s***head Garland and Scoot Podsednik. I sure as hell don't. If Kenny pulls that deal off he's GM of the year, WAIT, GM of the decade. I'll set up a webcam and eat my hat if that deal goes down.
  22. I was thinking the same thing Jas. If Kenny can play up the idea of staying in Chicago, an idea that Clement has shown interest in, we may be able to get him for $8-9M for 4 years. I think that is very doable for the Sox and very fair for Clement. Clement is my guy, but I'd be rather pleased with A.J. as well. I just fear what we'd have to give up to get him.
