I'm fairly certain the Hudson talks, at least at this point in time, involve the... Braves: a deal surrounding Marcus Giles and a top pitching prospect Cards: a deal surrounding Marquis/Haren and a top second baseman White Sox: a deal surrounding Garland and Harris/IF prospect Beane has gone on record saying he wants a young pitcher and a two-bagger. Take it for what its worth. EDIT: Actually, I've heard both Garland and Lee's name mentioned with the A's. Harris was actually just wishful thinking on my part. I want to make that clear.
-
He'd be a great addition to this ballclub, unfortunately, Beane is in love with him. So, although I agree he'd be fantastic on the Southside, let's just take him out of the the picture all together.

Know what thought beck...thinking along those lines, is Greg Maddux a guy to build a team around? He is a fantastic baseball player, one of the best at his position, but he has ZERO leadership potential. When he came to the Flubs, all the reporters kept asking if he was going to take Prior and Wood under his wing. His response: I'm not really that type of guy, I'm actually hoping to learn a little from them. So, although he is a great ball player, he isn't necessarily a leader on or off the field. (Before you guys dog me, I know he is a first ballot hall of famer, I just think this was a good example) The law says no-no. But her eyes say yes-yes.

I'll tell ya something right now. Three guys run onto the field...by the third time, I'm laughing too. Those goofs just end up getting nailed anyway. Why let it bug you? Stay loose, play the game.

As am I.

Lee has more value. Its just that simple. We shouldn't look so deeply into it. If Kenny has an offer on the table for Lee that he can't refuse, he's going to pull the trigger. I think he has learned over the past few seasons that the offensive production is going to be there (especially playing at USCF), but its the rotation that comes back to bite us in August and Sept. Paulie won't bring in as much as Lee; that's just my opinion, but I think its a fair one. Maybe a trade involving Paulie can bring in Vazquez, but otherwise, trading Lee would probably bring in a SP of more value.
-
Ok, thanks. Team option or mutual option?
-
Is this a walk year for Lee? If it is, he is going to put up some monster numbers. Please just hold off on trading him Kenny. Trade Paulie and get a second-tier starting pitcher, hell, you might even be able to grab Vazquez.
-
Beane wants a young starting pitcher and a two-bagger. He went on record with that. Sorry, I don't have a link. If your Beane, do you want Giles and a top-prospect from the Bravos. Or... Do you want Jon Garland and Harris/some other IF prospect. Its really going to come down to who he likes more. Contracts seem to be a wash.

Players that possess loyality and chivalry are a dying breed. Owners that possess loyality and chivalry are a dying breed. Its just that simple. Sports now-a-days are about the almighty dollar. I don't care how much these players say they love their fans and such because they are just being PC. This doesn't apply for all players, but I have to think it applies for the majority. So long Mags, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

What a proposal. :headshake And it's Orange Krush...with a k.

SP- Comes to the Sox via Paul Konerko Trade SS- Free Trade Aquisition of a veteran utility guy off the scrap heap IMO, those will be the only other moves made this off-season. Just a hunch.
-
Yikes!!! Look at that contract. They better pray he has a monster year. I don't think he was a "must-have" for the Dodgers...very interesting.

Outfield is complete. Thanks for playing.

I'll be in attendance as well...should be a fun one. I saw them there against UIC last year. Good win tonight. -
Good work Willie. Hey, we caught Kenny on a Jermain Dye slip didn't we? Ya never know. Anything is possible at this point. I wouldn't like the move though...

Gammmmmmmmmmm-onnnnnnnnnnsssssssssss Gammmmmmmmmmm-onnnnnnnnnnssssssssss I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't put ANY stock into anything that bumbling fool ever says. Yep, we had Jaret Wright locked in Gammons. Screw him. Yes, I know, I know...he works at ESPN, he knows baseball...blah blah blah...the guy is never right. End of story.

December 2004 Quotes of the Month

"Stuff wise he's good." -Jason I thought that was so damn funny. Actually holding my sides. Sure he was talking about Odalis Perez...but if we weren't allowed to put it into context, c'mon...its histarical. Only on a baseball message board could you get away with that. Yes Jason, stuff wise, he is good! -
I'm a Finley man myself. I wanted him at the deadline. He's up there in age, but they guy still has a lot of game. He looked fantastic with the Dodgers, plus he's a good ol' Saluki.
-
No, you saw it correctly. But to say Finely is just like saying Beltran or Pujols...It's that distant of a possibilty; that's my point. Now, my guy was Kendall...didn't happen, so I'm on the Edgar train.
-
For the 90th time... Finley will NOT BE LEAVING THE WEST COAST. At the deadline last year, he refused to go to any time outside the west coast, so he could be close to his family. His family lives in San Deigo and he has made it very clear that he wants to stay close to home. This one ain't happening fellas.

My thoughts... First, it appears Kenny is willing to change the dynamic of this ballclub. I appluade him for that. This team needed some wholesale changes, and that is currently happening. So far, it seems Kenny is very serious about putting a contender on the field this year. We have bolstered the pen, it seems the outfield has been taken care of for the time being, and we are left with only two holes (SP and SS). Second, the likelyhood of Renteria seems to be fading. I hope I'm wrong on this one, but I forsee Kenny trading Paulie for the SP and signing a veteran utility guy off the scrap heap. Third, the Dye signing is a good move. He is now a two-year stop gap until Anderson is ready to make the jump. By trading for Jurassic last year, and signing Dye this year, Kenny has answered the questions in the outfield...and that answer doesn't include Borchard...that is fantastic. Fourth, Vazquez scares me to death. He has a nasty contract and I have a feeling he won't be had for anything short of Paulie and some prospects (Anderson perhaps?). Yes, our rotation will be complete, but he is yet another question mark in an already suspect rotation. OOOOOOOOO-EEEEEEEEEEEE-OOOOOOOOOO-JERRRRRRRRRRRRR-MAINNNNNNE Just not the same.

I told myself I was going to stay away from this subject, but I just can't find the heart to do so. Growing up with a parent in the record industry allows you to meet pretty cool people. Let me tell you, none cooler than Dime. He was rather close with my pop and we are very very saddened to see him go. Just last month he was on stage at the House of Blues backdoor stage with my dad's band after the Damageplan show. This is truly, truly a loss to the Metal community, but more importantly, the loss of a good guy. I know he has done some pretty wild things in his life, but he will be deeply missed. Rock on Dime.

Haven't read a thing yet...but let me just say...this looks really really promising! Rather happy, let me read everything but looks great!

RF-Dye (One-Two year deal with a third-year option) SP-Via Paul Konerko Trade (Not even going to begin the speculation) SS-Renteria (Flagship move of the off-season) That's it folks. Please, there is no salary cap in baseball and we are on the short end of that deal. Don't expect Pavano, Beltran, etc. just ain't gonna happen.
