Gammons on Sportscenter -Kevin Cash to Tampa Bay for Chad Gaudin (RP) -Cashman talked with both Beltran and Milton -White Sox seem out of Edgar/Cabrera sweepstakes He said it was basicly a meeting of all talk and no action. I have to agree with the dipship on this one.

My goodness folks... If you don't want to get involved with the Randy Johnson-to-the-Sox saga then stay out of it. Yes, people are excited that the Sox are in the running for one of the most dominant pitchers of his era. That's pretty exciting. I, too, feel that its a long-shot, but don't get pissy when posters talk about it. Ah yes, tis' the off-season I suppose.

Nice pick up for the M's. They targeted him, they got him. Bravo.
-
I'm going to ask this question again. Point blank. Anthrax, would you be a better general manager for the Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball Team than Kenny Williams? You never really answered the first time.
-
Game Night on ESPN Radio hot stove reports... -Red Sox getting frustrated with Renteria. They want their guy now. This might force them to head in another direction, possibily Cabrera. -Red Sox still going over the Pedro situation. No one knows where he's headed. -The Dodgers have emerged as the front-runner for Maggs, with the O's not too far behind. -Clement is getting looked at very seriously by the Angels. Some talks about A.J. Burnett. -Finley has flatened out the Beltran market. -Koskie is going to be off the board tonight...he's headed to the Blue Jays. -Moises Alou has just recieved a two year proposal by the Mets. -Braves, Mets, O's, and Nationals have shown interest in Sosa.
-
Cause that would...like...ya' know...take some thought.

In a word... :puke C'mon, we have to turn the page. So far we have made some nice off-season moves. This would be five steps in the wrong direction. We already have one glorified base-stealer on this team. We all know how I feel about him.

or maybe weed soxfan420?

Ichiro, Torii, and Vernon Wells are the reason the gold glove didn't come to the Southside. I wasn't aware that you had to win a gold glove to be considered a good fielder. Huh, I had this baseball thing all wrong.
-
You and Ken Harrelson both. I'm not exactly broken hearted.

My baseball source in Minnesotta (quite credible) says Koskie has all but packed his bags for the Jays. The deal was exactly what he wanted and he's heading home. As for Jacques, Hendry has shown a lot of interest...more than any other team. He says the Twins are really happy with having locked down Radke for the next couple years as that was their number one priority. He is unsure of the number of any other moves they will make this off-season, but speculates that they will no longer be making any major splash in either free agency or via trade. Radke just about broke the bank.

Gosh I wish Manson played Wonka. I can't wait for this to come out. And for those of you questioning the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, its pretty damn dark...go back and watch it. I watched the movie for the first time in years at age 18 and picked up on a lot of things you don't at first catch.

Nero Says Johnson never turned down the Sox
AddisonStSox replied to santo=dorf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is it safe to say yet that Paulie wouldn't be the guy traded? There is a lot of Caballo talk going on. Would everyone still be on board with a CLee,Garland, prospect for Johnson deal? Just trying to add a dose of reality here. As much as we'd like to see Paulie and Garland...Kenny seems to be going pretty hard and I think he's going for broke. In my opinion, Lee could be the deciding factor in a Sox-D'Backs trade straight up. -
Shane Reynolds. Has anyone thought about him? Is this a guy to consider, and, if so, would Kenny ever look at him? He'd be solid as a #4/5 and he comes awfully cheap. Just a thought. No rumor.

Its.Not.Arizona. -
Four o'clock press conferences usually mean four o'clock trades. This deal is done. Look elsewhere Kenny. EDIT: All of a sudden, the A's no longer have one of the most intimidating rotations in the AL. The Big 3 have just become the Suspect 2 (While Mulder is a true ace, I think Zito spooked some people last year).

My thoughts... -Figures dorf started this thread -Anything is possible, don't rule this trade out -Randy to the Chicago White Sox would be a PR explosion. It would be fantastic for the city, and, it could have a Pudge-to-the-Tigers free agent ripple affect for the future. -Also sounds like a great way to drive up the market after it seemed that teams died down on RJ. Could be a ploy. -Anyway you cut it, this has to be good news. Randy Johnson to the Sox, c'mon folks. I'd be willing to sacrifice some of the future for a chance with Randy now. -
Sexon goes to the M's. Delgado goes to the O's. Konerko goes to whoever missed out on those two and can afford to trade a SP.

Braves Trade Capellan For Dan Kolb
AddisonStSox replied to Rowand44's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Seems like both teams ended up with the guy they wanted. Melvin said he wasn't going to trade Kolb unless he got an offer he couldn't refuse...this must have been one of those offers. Brewers get a young, promising arm. Braves get a proven closer and can move Smoltz back to the rotation. Fine move all around. -
Ok... Who leads off then? Are you trying to tell me that we are going to aquire a lead off hitter...cause I don't see it happening; nor have there been any signs to say otherwise.
-
Now with the signing of Hermanson and Dye, it seems Kenny is done in the free agent market. In fact, I think that was even said publicly. All signs point towards one more move, a starting pitcher via trade. There has been a lot of talk about guys like Vazquez and Hudson, but none about a starting shortstop or a lead off hitter. Which begs the question... Are the Sox going to have to find players already in their organization to satisfy these needs? Assuming Paulie or Lee is traded, we would have two/three holes in the club: an outfield spot, a leadoff hitter, and a starting shortstop. Who will the Sox plug in to fill these holes? Lets try to get fancy with this one... Leadoff: Gload, Burke, and Willie Harris Outfield: Jurassic, Escobar, Perez and Borchard Starting shortstop: Uribe, Valdez, Big Kelly Dransfelt (this would mean Willie Harris is starting at 2B) Uh-oh.
-
I'm sooooooooooooo happy the deal with Ortiz to the DBacks happened. Thanks for the horrible signing fellas!!!
-
don't forget about this one.
-
I think the deal for Vazquez would only have us trading Paulie. Otherwise, I like the post. As far as the Brewers, Doug Melvin will not be trading Sheets or Kolb. He has made it very clear that he would have to be blown away by an offer to even consider trading Kolb. He has done a fantastic job with that club and we won't see a Brewers "garage sale" like we saw from the Bucs a few years ago.
