  1. Outstanding Thread. Honestly. Truly Riveting.
  2. That number has changed more times than Anne Heche on this board.
  3. I think Kenny stays away from this one. He may show some mild interest, but he has clearly shown he has his mind set on a middle infielder and AJP. I think the chances of Vazquez on the Southside are slim to none. Hell, I don't want him considering what we would lose to snag him. I'm rather happy with off-season aquisitions thus far. Vazquez will be in Baltimore when it is all said and done.
  4. These numbers are so staggering. Just think, when the Twin Towers fell, 6,000 people died. Not to take anything away from those that were tragicly lost in NYC, but I can't fathom 135,000 lives taken by an act of God. Its simply stunning. These sort of disasters really make you think about all the good things in life. My deepest go out to all those involved.
  5. Drunk. s***-faced Drunk. Happy New Year's folks! Drive Safely Everyone.
  6. Agreed. Don't blame the Yanks, blame Selig. They have an owner that is willing to open his own pocketbook to field the best team in the league each and every year. It wasn't always like that in New York. Once the YES network started having wild success, King Geroge decided to take money out of his own pockets to field these amazing teams. He spends money to make money; nothing wrong with that.
  7. I miss Dibbs already. Dan sounds like a sad sack without him. Hopefully they can find an adequate replacement, otherwise they risk having a rumbling, stumbling, messy show like Jim Rome.
  8. He's a solid catcher. Hell, some might make the argument that he is one of the top 3-5 catchers in the game. I'll admit it, I'm a little worried about his clubhouse presence, I think there are fairgrounds for concern. However, does anyone else think Ozzie wouldn't tolerate s*** from any of his "kids," especially a new-comer? I believe Ozzie is one of the few managers in the leauge that truly runs a tight ship. If AJP is signed and a problem arises, I think Ozzie would get a handle on it early on. Wow. These AJP talks are fun. I can't believe we are having them again.
  9. My source from up north says Jacque Jones will not be a Twink next year. He may very well end up on the Northside.
  10. Baby steps shooter, baby steps. EDIT: Vazquez will go to Baltimore in the Johnson-to-the-Yanks trade. In turn, the O's will ship one or two big leaguers to the D'Backs.
  11. I'm just forseeing some major form of heartbreak if Kenny doesn't sign both. The bottom line is if he signs just one of these guys, he will have produced a top-notch off-season...one of the best in recent memory. So, before we have our hearts set on landing both Iguchi and AJP, lets take a look at payroll and past Sox expenditures. Iguchi and AJP would mean 5 free agent aquisitions; that doesn't seem like the Sox practices I am used to. On that note...I would love to be wrong on this. I would sing the prasies of Kenny from now till' the end of 2005 if he nails both of these guys.
  12. I love how you just assume we will be signing Iguchi. Sorry fella, ain't happening. Kenny will sign either Iguchi/Cora or AJP...it won't be both. We will be improved no matter who he signs out of those three.
  13. It's gonna get interesting. If its not AJP, its going to be Iguchi or Cora, so either way, another improvement is on the horizon. I applaud Kenny's diligence and I believe whoever he brings in next will most certainly have been coveted.
  14. Damn Gold, you do great work! Thanks again! Its perfect! And....yes, I live off Addison in the heart of Cub country, so I pride myself on having been born and rasied a Sox fan.
  15. This article was in the Sunday Trib. I feel a lot better about our pitching situation after having read that. Ye-Ha! Looks like we are major contenders for the division; after that, anything can happen.
  16. Yes, good point SS. I reall think the last member of the 2005 off-season will be either AJP, Iguchi, Cora, or Cairo. Take your pick. It will be one of those 4...book it.
  17. With these new comments, I think its safe to say the remaining "piece of the puzzle" will either be AJP or a middle-infielder. Its as simple as that. Now, we just have to wait and see. If AJP is signed, I think Kenny will pack it up and call it an off-season. If a middle-infielder is signed (Iguchi,Cora,Cairo), I think Kenny will pack it up an call it an off-season. Look for one of either AJP, Iguchi, Cora, or Cairo to be brought in.
  18. Both WSCR and Bruce Levine report we are back in the AJ hunt, so I think we can safely put some stock into it. Hell, WSCR even reported we offered a him a deal. These are two "farily" credible baseball sources. They know a lot more than you or I.
  19. Levine reports that the White Sox have not only offered Iguchi a two-year deal, but have also re-established interest in A.J. It's Bruce, so take it for what its worth.
  20. You'll get your two-bagger. Kenny wants one more piece of the puzzle (a middle infielder) before packing up and calling it an off-season. Hang in there. Help is on the way.
  21. There will be one more move, and that will be for a middle infielder. Look for Kenny to bring in Alex Cora or Iguchi and call it an off-season.
  22. I think Kenny wants Cora. He is going to try to pull the..."Well Alex, we know you'd like to play for your brother, and we are sure you'd be a great fit...but unfortunately, we won't be able to match your top offer. We hope you will choose the Sox to play for your brother and join the "latino clubhouse." If Kenny can't get Cora with a big discount, I think the next logical move would be to increase the offer with Iguchi or go after Cairo.

    Jim Rome

Now that Rome has been moved to the late-night slot on ESPN Radio 1000, I have been able to hear a bit more from him. I don't know what to think of this guy. I've been listening to him for about a year, but only on occasion. Yeah, he's a prick, but a lot of times this guy is right on. I believe his thoughts on things other than sports merit a thread in the SLAP forum...mods, if you'd rather move this to the Sports Bar, please feel free. What do you all think of Mr. Rome?
