I just bought floor tickets to finally see Nine Inch Nails. I'm stoked beyond comprehension.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Pmed me before about it... playing stupid. I could really care less if it is him as long as he keeps posting like he does now. But i wish that he will just admit it... so blatantly obvious. I got similar PMs. I feel the same way. To be perfectly honest, he should take some pride in it. I can't think of anyone else able to come back and post like this. Ok, back on task.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) He prefers to go by 'The Poster Formerly Known As Jabroni'. Again, for curiosity sake, although we have him pegged, has he ever addressed the matter?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Off topic, I have a question, are you the poster who used to be Jabroni? The similarities are striking. I don't much care but the almost 2000 posts in 2+ months is a Jabroni-esque pace. Well I never. ...so much for beating around the bush.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) Where are these available pitchers capable of consistently retiring LHH's? Myers fit the billing, but unfortunately, is now a Yankee. If none of the available FA LH's suits our needs, then what are the remaining options? To obtain someone who consistently retires LH's we'll have to overpay. I'd rather have kept Marte, obtained our LH replacement, THEN trade him for whomever. Even if it meant less value. I just believe this trade sets us back further than it helps us. Now, opposed to keeping Marte and searching for a UTL infielder, we've filled our UTL infield position and are left searching for a quality pitcher to replace Marte. Which sounds easier to accomplish in your mind? ...and where do we factor in the option that the traded player and manager could no longer work together? I just want to make sure we're on the same page.

Franco closes in on two-year deal with Mets
AddisonStSox replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in The Diamond Club
Jose Valentin AND Julio Franco on the same roster? The other teams in the NL East should just concede now. That thing is over. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) ^^^^^^^^^ :headbang :headbang :headbang Have you two met? She's a very cute girl, Mike.

Timo is still available. Jump on him now.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) I just don't understand Williams thought process here. We remove someone, albeit a slight headcase and wildly inconsisent, from a vital component of our team. Who gives a f*** about the bench? I wouldn't have been concerned enough about it this early in the offseason. Oh, but now that we have Mackowiak to solidify our bench there's a gapping hole from the left side of our bullpen. Ultimately, from the merits of this trade, our bench is improved, whereas our bullpen lost a key contributer. I trust Williams finds an LH option, but with Myers gone I'm concerned. The armchair GMs out in force. Damaso Marte--who had a falling-out with the team, as clear as day--could no longer pitch within this organization. The emergence of Neal Cotts and Marte's inability to get out left-handed hitters, coupled with being in a "must move" situation, not only made him expendable, but valuable in the sense of adding a first-class utility player. If Damaso Marte got lefties out, you'd have an arguement on your hands. But, he can't, so, you don't have a leg to stand on.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) Yes, get me Mike Myers and it's perfect. Wow. Have we ever agreed before?
-
Try to look at this as only one move. As easy as it is to point to free agency and suggest Williams will sign another left-handed reliever, I'm curious as to how we all feel regarding the trading of Damaso Marte for a first-class utility player in Rob Mackowiak.
-
Bajaneru is God's gift to right-handed relief pitching. Impending investigations suggest a front-office conspiracy to keep Bajaneru from a sure-fire promotion to the majors. That's the only plausible reason why the Prodigal Son is not pitching with the Pale Hose. If he ever makes to the bigs, he'll surely be a perennial all-star.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Perhaps we could chip in for his airfare on a one way ticket to Cairo, GA where we'll never hear from him again. Nevermind, it will be hard to collect money with people emptying their wallets for the highly successful Deport Timo Pledge drive If you'll remember, I started a thread asking to collect to upgrade Harris' plane ticket from coach to first class upon his being sent down to Charlotte. I'll pitch in a five spot.
-
Trading Willie Harris would be the cherry-on-top for an already stealler off-season. Oh, man. This brought a huge smile to my face. Something, Kenny. Anything.
-
Losing Fabio. What a great name for a band.

Bring the Oak Lawn native back home. I've been calling for Mackowiak for over a year now. It'd be an excellent fit. (Life long Sox fan, as well)

Grossman Upgraded to 2nd string

Let's all pitch in a couple bucks and buy this team a real quarterback. I'll start passing around the collection plate. -
Padres trade Sean Burroughs for Dewon Brazelton
AddisonStSox replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) I kinda like this deal for both teams. Brazelton is a real talent and needed a change of scenery while Burroughs still has a chance to be a nice player. GOod trade all around I'd say ^^^^^^^^ Two guys I'm crazy about. I hope both can get on track with their new teams. ...wanted Burroughs, though. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) I'm pretty sure Tony G. is Konerko's best friend in baseball. There won't be any problems bringing him back into the clubhouse. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Have heard the same. Just wanted to throw that out there. Damnit, Steff, hurry in here.
-
QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) I believe there was some tension in the locker room about the way Tony lives his life and it may have clashed with the rest of the ballclub. "the way Tony lives his life" - what does that mean ? He's an ardent Christian. From what I remember he didn't feel that was well-recieved or something to that end. Then again, that whole clubhouse seemed to love Tony G, as well as the fan-base. So, I'll step aside and let someone like Steff field this one. But, I'm pretty sure that was the case.
-
How do you like my new name?

QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) who are you? Besides the 25'th member to join Soxtalk? -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Are you 6'5 and approaching 300 pounds? It's reassuring if you're a major fatass or something along those lines. No offense if you are indeed a major fatass. I love you, man. That was my exact post. "Are you a 6'5, 275+lb, hard-swinging black man?"
-
Yes!!!! No Pierre to the Sox...
-
IIRC, his leaving the team wasn't exactly under perfect circumstances. I believe there was some tension in the locker room about the way Tony lives his life and it may have clashed with the rest of the ballclub. Steff may be a better source on this than I, but, I think something along those lines was going down. Just something to consider.
