  1. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) It looks like this will be Jon G's final season with the Champs. I call you on this. This does not mean it will be his final season with the champs. Too much can h appen either way with him. he could win 17-20 again; he could suck. I hope he's a Sox a long time. either way, jon will be gone.....if he wins 17-20, he will get a 10mil offer. if he does go back to sucking again, we won't want him back....lets just hope he dosnt suck and we repeat, maybe broadway will be ready by 2007.
  2. maybe to get everyone a little bit more time getting down to the ballpark while everyone is rushing out of chicago for the weekend during rush hour...good move
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) I have no reason to believe he won't. Ozzie, and the sox in general seem to like him enough to think he is worthy of a roster space and a million dollars. Sad thing is, minor leaguers... and i am talking piece of s*** minor leaguers, can do what he does for a fraction of the cost. u think borchard is equal to timo? i think not. i think sweeney, anderson, young and owens are probably equal or better at the major league level to timo but anderson is coming up to replace rowand and the only other minor leaguer who would make the roster is borchard because he is out of options and they dont want to have the other 3 start with the major league club unless they pull a pablo in spring training
  4. i think frank goes to the orioles(angelos loves our old and declining dh's;ie harold) or anaheim if they dont get manny
  5. garland for ichiro, who's with me?
  6. miami just dosent support the team...evidence shown, no new stadium, low ticket sales, cant sell out post-season games
  7. it wasnt meant to be come off as harsh....i liked that 03 marlins team alot, they beat the cubs, 2nd best moment in my baseball life
  8. thanks and good luck to the marlins as well....hopefully their move to Vegas in a few years goes smoothly
  9. i heard on world news now......thats like the ENRON people deciding to start their own financial services company.
  10. QUOTE(Allsox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Thome's yearly OBP totals are absolutely disgusting: '94 - .359 '95 - .438 '96 - .450 '97 - .423 '98 - .413 '99 - .426 '00 - .398 '01 - .416 '02 - .445 '03 - .385 '04 - .396 The guy does strike out a ton but he does average 100 walks a yr as well. Plus, a career .281 batting avg isn't bad i hope disgusting was a good term cause thome is a stud
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) The Phillies are paying more for Rowand (technically) than we are for Thome. they are paying rowand 10 mil in theory...very good point
  12. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) My only problem I see is Thome K's, how is Ozzie going to handle a 1-4 3K day for thome? is the one hit a game winning hr?
  13. aaron was scheduled for 3.5 mil this yr, so we upped the payroll only 4mil...not bad
  14. AWARDS 2004 Players Choice Awards (Man of the Year) Played in the All-Star Game 2002 Roberto Clemente Man of the Year (Outstanding skills, sportsmanship and community involvement) 2001 Players Choice Awards (Man of the Year) 1999 Played in the All-Star Game 1998 Played in the All-Star Game 1997 Played in the All-Star Game 1996 Silver Slugger (American League) (First baseman) 1993 Player of the Year (Triple-A - Baseball America) Triple-A All-Star Team (Baseball America) Most Valuable Player (International League - AAA) International League All-Star Team (AAA) (Third baseman) 1991 Double-A All-Star Team (Baseball America) Eastern League All-Star Team (AA) (Third baseman) 1990 Short Season All-Star Team (Baseball America) Appalachian All-Star Team ® (Utility infielder) those are all his awards in his career.....roberto clemente award winner and 2 time man of the year award...he's a stand up guy
  15. hey if they would have taken borchard instead of rowand, id be even more happy, but u dont get a player like thome at half the price without giving up someone of some value....rowand isnt an all star, remember that, thome is.....as long as thome is healthy he is putting up 40+hr's 100+rbi
  16. i liked rowand just as much as the next guy, but this deal makes our team better
  17. for as much b****ing that i saw on the main thread, i thought more people would hate it cause they have a man crush on rowand....if thome is healthy, he is a stud and brian anderson can do the job in cf just as well if not better IMO
  18. I think it was a good trade, im curious what everyone else thinks?
  19. inevitably, everyone on this 05 team will be gone in the next 10 years, its the nature of the business....so i hate to see rowand go, but if it makes us better, then it has to be done....but it does not change the fact that when blum, rowand, everett or anyone else happens to play at us cellular in the coming years in an opponents jersey, each and everyone of us should stand up and applaud them....world series teams are few and far between, so i cherish every guy on the roster forever
  20. im still suprised our boys werent right behind colon, 5th and 6th, c'mon
  21. if u dont believe in dinosaurs, strange things happen to you
  22. yesterday on boers and bernstein, they interviewed Blum and mentioned to him that sometimes the role players in the world series come up the biggest and to be ready.....blum said he would be ready....it will be interesting to listen to boers and bernstein today...i imagine they will replay yesterdays interview
  23. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) i thought AJ was from Orlando. played high school baseball with Hawk's son. they said in the boston series that he played hs ball with johnny damon
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) So 27% of the area still has hope in their team? I dont get the point lol. actually to have 27% with only 5 states or so in the red, those states are probably over 80% but thats what u get when u buy a tahnic for a dollah
