QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Omar Vizquel # 13, Per FOXSPORTS No way.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Was it the redux version? If not, it's the only version. Why do you say that? The original was considered one of the greatest American movies for 22 years before the Rudux was released.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) The conservation should be about how bad the Jones/Kotsay tandem will be. 1. It's pretty much been covered. 2. It's pointless because nobody knows how productive they will be.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 06:41 AM) Ok, so to put it a different way, which general consensus would you value more? That at Soxtalk or that of Chris's callers? Like it has been said, they are emotional, that would be like judging Soxtalk solely on the post-game threads.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 01:07 AM) Well remember to keep that in mind when putting fans that contact you through your show, and fans whose opinions you read here in the same group. There usually is quite a distinction. Right, nobody is ever emotional, illogical, or inebriated here.

So are they supposed to decide by tonight or has that been pushed back a day now?

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) I thought old people stay inside when it gets really snowy and cold. Are you saying all those saved spots are elderly people trolling about in the snow? I am sure there are some but doubtful it is any significant percentage. All I know is when I lived in Chicago me & my uncle would go around the neighborhood and clean spots in front of my grandmother and her brothers' and sisters' houses and their neighbors. When people parked in those spots it made it very difficult for them sometimes because they would have to walk much further through the winter conditions to get home. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Yeah, elderly people shouldn't be driving in perfect driving conditions, let alone winter driving conditions. Yeah, well believe it or not, some elderly people still have responsibilities and have to get out regardless of the conditions.

As far as saving parking spots goes, you guys do realize that a lot of times people come and clear them for their elderly parents/grandparents/friends/neighbors right?

Why Carlton Fisk is still my favorite Sox player, ever
Leonard Zelig replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) I've seen two descriptions of what happened, and both make Deion look like the bad guy. In Fisk's wiki, it says that Deion hit a flyball and didn't even run it out; if Deion's wiki, it says Deion drew a dollar sign in the dirt, then hit a flyball and loafed to 1B, and both say Fisk yelled "If you don't play it right, I'm going to kick your ass right here." Even if Fisk was an asshole, he seems like he was an asshole that appreciated the game for what it was and was the ultimate competitor. In Sanders' next at bat, he told Fisk that "The days of slavery are over", and that's when the confrontation occurred. -
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) id much rather have that as our song(go sox, go) than lets go go white sox, the music is brutal, it sounds like music theyd play through an ice cream truck and the lyrics are worse. im just trying to be honest and not biased lol both suck but ill give the edge to the go song Yeah, well the song is over 50 years old, popular music has changed a bit.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Yeah... a hall of famer kicking and screaming like a lil girl because someone won't run as fast as they can on a routine pop up. That's worse. I wonder how much you even know about what happened that day because Fisk didn't kick or scream until the next at bat when Deion turned it into a race thing which it clearly was not. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Interesting. I am surprised they would be allowed to become a sponsor of another MLB team considering their ownership of the naming right's to Pittsburgh's facility. Not sure if its the same, but US Cellular gives out stuff at Cardinals games all the time.

Andruw Jones in the Best Shape in a Decade?
Leonard Zelig replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 12:48 AM) The Thomer... Oh, well that still is possible. He made it sound like we missed out on somebody at that price. edit: Or maybe thats just how I read it. -
Andruw Jones in the Best Shape in a Decade?
Leonard Zelig replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) Over the last 3 years, in 1000 ABs Jones has hit .207 with a .697 OPS. It seems unlikely he'll turn it around now. He is however, better than Kotsay who has a .687 OPS in the same time frame. Putting together a DH platoon of Jones and Kotsay is simply idiotic. For a couple of million dollars (maybe less) the Sox could have someone that you know would at least post over an .800 OPS. I don't get it. Who? -
Joel Pineiro to Angels.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) I missed this post as I browsed through this thread. BEST.POST.OF.THREAD. I've never in my life heard of a rotating DH system. I've always considered myself an 'Ozzie guy.' But he doesn't get, or at least shouldn't get, a lifetime pass for 2005. In short, he's getting on my damn nerves. So if you and others think that Ozzie is clueless, what about Jerry Reinsdorf & Kenny Williams? They must be absolute buffoons to allow him to manage the team they own & run.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) This price seems kind of high for a backup catcher no? Granted we are hoping he goes up to his career avgs. Man weve had bad luck with offensive catchers going to us as backups and becoming the worst offensive players in the history of the game. sigh...i just cant stand all these reasonable deals going out to players that would completely upgrade a huge offensive hole for us and we cry poor. Who has cried poor recently?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Jackhead, most likely Not that night, but we are rockin' PK's with the Bottle Rockets Jan. 31.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) What for? The community radio station here in St. Louis, KDHX, has a dead artist tribute show show each year to raise money. Several bands play only that artists songs all night, 2009 was Zevon. I played with a couple of bands that night one played Roland, Jesus was a Cross Maker, and Aint that Pretty at All. The other band played Hula Hula Boys, Jeannie Needs a Shooter, and Bo Diddley's a Gun Slinger (Zevon covered it on a live album).
