QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) It sure could. Ozzie just has to realize the risk of getting caught with the pitcher DH'ing is incredibly minimal. How many games in his White Sox career has AJ left in the middle of the game because of injury or being ejected? Well of course they could do it, they could put Jermaine Dye at shortstop in a pinch if they had to. Ozzie would not send his only backup catcher out to DH on a regular basis and I think you know that.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) I wonder why people haven't talked about Flowers possibly being the DH? He could rotate with AJ behind the plate and get a decent amount of ABs in the DH hole. Sounds like a nice transition to me. Just go out and sign a DH next year. . . Wouldn't work if he is the backup catcher.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) I'm pretty sure the spot to hit before Blues games is Bernie Federko's. It's right across from the stadium, it's huge, and it's dedicated to hockey. Maybe if you want to go to the hot hockey spot, I'm not a hockey fan so I only go if I get free tickets. I take the shuttles from Soulard to all the stadiums, its 5 minutes away and I don't have to mess with parking. You could still take the shuttles and walk over to Bernie's.
-
I've never been to the United Center so I cannot make any comparisons. I can recommend that you go down to a bar in Soulard and take one of the free shuttles to the stadium, you can bring your drinks on them and some even sell cans out of a cooler.

Leonard Zelig replied to scenario's topic in The Diamond Club
Local radio is saying the offer is 5 years. -

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) vlad isnt coming to southside folks. ozzie wants dh that can play the field and he dosent fit the description. sorry People keep posting this, but Ozzie is the one who mentioned it and he doesn't acquire the players, so we don't really know if that is the case.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) I love this post. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Until his next question is how to get it painted like an ice cream truck.... QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) "If this minivan's a rockin'. . . " Makes me yearn for the ol' Chevy Conversion van back in college. Ha, I wasn't even thinking about that. I have to move a bed and I can either borrow a minivan or figure out plan B.

Does anybody happen to know of a queen size mattress/boxspring will fit in a minivan?

Mayor Daley Goes off on 2016 Bid Volunteers
Leonard Zelig replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If that makes Daley a buffoon, then there are a whole lot more buffoons running around out there, many here on Soxtalk. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) Did you read his comment right? I think so, he said he didn't care if the DH plays in the field, but we haven't had a DH who played the field for about as long as I can remember so I'm not sure what Ozzie needs to get over.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) I think Ozzie needs to get over this 'I want my DH to be able to play the field' crap. I mean players for the most part that are DH's are DH's for a reason. I don't care if my DH can't play the field. I want my DH to mash. What are you talking about? Outside of Everett's 22 games in 2005, when was the last time we had a DH who played in the field?
-
What's the deal with Fox, is he just a butcher in the field?
-
Thornton with his contract is one of the better values the on the team, I doubt he gets moved.
-
Holliday will be according to local radio, but not Glaus.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) I was in my teens in the late 80s/early 90s,long after the Beatles heyday yet they are my favorite band. You would think Pink Floyd,The Who,Led Zep,Beatles, etc. would be huge today considering that today's rock is the crappiest it's been since rock and roll music started. There's good rock bands out there, you just have to look a little harder to find them.

Red Sox maybe not desperate for a SS
Leonard Zelig replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) why is Boston seem to be so willing to trade Ellsbury? A great leadoff hitter, young, probably still cheap, I would think you would want to hold onto him. Well, they do have Brian Anderson. -
OK, is this better or worse than signing Crisp for this role?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) It's also worth noting that no team wants to sign someone before the arbitration deadline and then wind up giving up an extra draft pick because they jumped the gun. Sign Matsui right now, or Thome, and the other team can offer arbitration without having to worry about the player accepting because they already signed a contract with another team. How can you offer arbitration to a player on another team?

Electric bass and a bit of guitar.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) I know Imo's is a chain throughout Southern Illinois, but that s the worst pizza I ever had. They put an Imo's in Carbondale, but it didn't last long, it's more of a St. Louis thing.

The Doors?? What is this, 1991????

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) If you're talking about the sporcle quiz, it just asks for the professional teams that do not end in an "S." No it was on TV, can't remember where, maybe that show on ESPN?
-
I remember seeing a trivia question that asked for the names of the teams who are not plural like the Heat or the Lightning and both Sox were on that list.

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) So says the person from the prestigious Kent State university, a school best known for Drew Carey and that one guy who got shot by the Ohio National Guard. Actually four unarmed college students were shot and killed by the Ohio National Guard, haven't you ever heard the song?
