  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Correction, you like pop country. 1. Baba O'Riley (The Who) 2. Livin' Part Of Life (Eric Church) 3. Sabotage (Beastie Boys) 4. Peaceful, Easy Feeling (The Eagles) 5. Hillbilly Hollywood (John Anderson) 6. Killing In The Name (Rage Against The Machine) 7. Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner (Warren Zevon) 8. All Along The Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix) 9. Tumbling Dice (Rolling Stones) 10. In The City (The Eagles) Roland is #4 on mine because I had to learn the bass part for it.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) Can someone explain the difference between these two for me? I've wondered this for years. Don't you have internet access?
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) Excellent point. Also it is good to discipline them (take them to where they pee'd/poop'd at tell them no/bad dog/etc.. and hit them, doesn't have to be super hard, but they know you mean buisness) so they will think twice. Dogs are obviously very smart. I have a 5 month old myself. Yes he still slips up from time to time, but not nearly as much as he used to. When he slips up, he runs right to his dog cage cause he knows he f***ed up.. I also credit my other dog too (older) who shows him the ropes sort of speak. I.E. where to do his business at outside (amazing that I can let him out at 5 months in my backyard with no fences, etc.. and he does his business and heads right back into the house not worrying about him running away, pooping/peeing in the neighbors yard) not to walk in the living room, etc.. I'm pretty sure any dog expert/trainer would tell you that you should never hit your dog.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) Spy Game with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt is on AMC tonight. Easily one of my top 10 favorite movies. Such a high cool factor. Does AMC show commercials?
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) I also would think its only fair to remove all pitchers who admittedly used illegal pitches, any player who corked their bat or was caught cheating, etc. If you want to remove cheaters, remove cheaters. If you want to create scapegoats, well the HOF is doing a great job. What bout a SS who doesn't really tag second base when he turns a double play? Or an OF who knows he trapped a fly ball but tries to play it off like he caught it? Or a batter who acts like he got hit by a close pitch? Are they cheaters?
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) I dont think breaking the law has anything to do with baseball, the HOF, or whether a player is HOF worthy. How is a spitball not premeditated? How does a spitball not put their "entire game at an improperly different level of competition"? If anything a spitball is worse. You can scientifically see the difference between a doctored ball and a nondoctored ball. Conversely there is no absolute correlation between steroids and being a better player. There could have been hundreds of players taking steroids who sucked for all we know. A difference is that an umpire could catch somebody doctoring a ball and warn or eject the player, you cannot catch somebody using PEDs during a game.
  7. One of my favorite non-regular characters was Mr. Bookman, the guy who hunts down overdue books for the library. Also some good flashbacks to Jerry & George in high school in that episode.
  8. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) It used to be the Cardinals until I recently moved to St. Louis. Now, I can't stand them. It's common to hear that they have the best fans in baseball. What everyone fails to mention is that they are delusional as well. One fan is intent on convincing me that Brendan Ryan is the best shortstop in the NL. I brought up a slew of other names but apparently was being shortsighted because I wasn't taking into account defense. Another was trying to convince me that Wainwright is the best pitcher in the NL. I guess there is at least SOME argument to that, but I hated the fact that he was saying he was a true MLB ace based on one season. And no one is worse than their sports-radio hosts. One week they think the Cardinals can't live without Holliday (when there are rumors that he'll re-sign), the next he is a huge detriment to the team (when he's rumored to sign elsewhere). I have to admit, though, that I've had a hatred for the this particular host after he said before the NHL season that the Blackhawks would miss the playoffs due to losing Khabibulan and the Blues would win the division. Point is, St. Louis fans may be loyal but it's almost to a fault. (Whew.....glad I got that rant off my chest). Go Giants.....what's not to love about a team that has had the likes of Barry Bonds and Jeff Kent on their roster. Plus, their GM always gives out the most fiscally responsible contracts. Not sure who you are referring to, but I stopped listening to 1380 altogether when they added Kevin Slaten.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) If the Brewers can find some pitching, they might have a legit shot again. Sure, but there is a big difference between what you said and what he said.
  10. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) I don't like this signing at all, possibly the worst this offseason. 7 yrs 120 mil for a 30 year old who's best years might be behind him very soon, plus its going to hamstring the Cards from making future moves. They won't make playoffs this year, book it. So who are you picking to win the NL Central?
  11. Tony LaRussa will be on http://www.101espn.com/ soon.
  12. The thought around St. Louis is that the Cardinals had to sign a big bat to convince Albert that they are going to be competitive in the next several years in order for him to resign. I don't know what the rest of their roster will look like, but I would be surprised if Albert isn't resigned before he hits free agency.
  13. Snoop Dogg & Martha Stewart make brownies.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) About 30% of the ticket price (which tm does not receive anything from). I'm not certain how outrageous a 30% mark up is. I imagine most retail items we buy carry at least that or more. How else can stores offer a 50% sale? The difference, as I see it, is there is no incentive for another service to come in that reduces the fee. The venues will still go with the vendor that offers *them* the most, not who will offer the ticket buyer a better deal. It has been awhile since I paid any attention, but I thought bands who tried that ran afoul of TM and the venue's exclusive agreements? The difference is retail stores purchase the items, TM is not purchasing the tickets.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) I thought the venues select how and who will offer tickets to the public. It depends, some bands who have the means handle that stuff themselves to keep their fans from having to pay the added fees. TM adds outrageous fees to the tickets they sell and the bands & venues do not receive much if any of that money.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:29 AM) Too bad competition doesn't work in this case. The competition is which group can generate more dollars for the bands and venues, not who can sell to the public for less. Yeah, but those "convenience" fees don't go to the bands and the venues.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) Yeah but is it enough? Now there's an ESPN article out there that is speculating that the yanks might be able to pay enough to convince ALBERT PUJOLS to outbid the cards when his contract is up. What the hell? When does it stop? I'd just as soon level the playing field for everyone. I doubt Pujols will become a free agent next year.
  18. Probably not many Vic Chesnutt fans here, but he died on Christmas Day. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/...hesnutt-tribute
  19. My girlfriend was at a thrift store and she bought me a Sox jersey that I had never seen before. It is a white jersey in the style like they wear now but it had no pinstripes. Does anyone know if it is a spring training jersey or something?
  20. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Dec 18, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) I saw him the other day serving hot dogs at the YMCA Are you still staying there? Is it as fun as they say?
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) from a mattress website according to this site showing the interior height and width, the Chisoxfn is right, the boxspring isnt going to fit http://www.rollxvans.com/minivandimensions.aspx get yourself some straps and put it on the roof or get a buddy with a flatbed truck QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) I just moved to a new place yesterday so this was fresh in my mind, haha. But I know from helping friends that the biggest bed you can fit in most SUV's/Vans with a boxspring is a Full. Thanks guys, I didn't think they would fit.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 12:05 PM) Pretty sure the Indians used to do it with VMart and Shoppach? Pretty sure they didn't do it many times and they also had a third catcher on their roster for some of those years.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) He does know that, but like him, I think its a fear that is not worth considering. The risk level is insanely low, and the worst case scenario is that the pitcher's slot hits for part of one game, which would be PH'd for later anyway. So you're talking a couple at-bats, maybe, at worst, from a P. That risk is not worth factoring into this decision, IMO. I hear you, but how many times have you ever seen a team do that? Even teams with a good defensive backup and a big bat starting catcher never seem to put them both in the lineup.
