  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) The Rays. They have 3 guys in their rotation with less than 40 games pitched in their careers. What would people here be saying about Kapler if he was our starting RF?
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) This is a really productive post in a thread dedicated to "b****ing" about what my post is about. You're right we should accept glaring faults when they're masked by other things of quality. We should accept below-average performance, becasue we're all "talked out" on the subject. That's an effective approach and doesn't at all distract from the subject at hand. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) Let's just not argue anything, and we can shut down Soxtalk for the winter. Well, we could give our players more than one game before we trash them. What teams do you guys see that don't have faults? What teams with equal or lower payrolls would you trade our roster for?
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) We shouldn't accept a poor DH, just because the rest of the roster is hitting well around him. We shouldn't have to win in spite of the Designated Hitter. Well, it's who we have on our team. You can b**** about it for the next six months. The past three months of b****ing about it really has accomplished a lot.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) They are similar, but A.J. is slightly better. A.J.'s career ISO: .142 Kotsay's: .132 Plus, you have to take into account that A.J. can actually post a .142, while Kotsay is hovering around .110. And you cannot tell me that there is not a Kotsay mania going on when Hawk talks about him like he's the most perfect player ever and that he can do no wrong. He's the new Darin Erstad. Who is defending Kotsay around here? Who ever defended Erstad?
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:28 AM) via Bush I throwing first pitch w/o jacket

Well, all my equipment is on its way, should be starting Monday if everything goes as planned.
  7. Can anybody answer this question for me: If I set my AT&T UVerse to DVR a ballgame and the game goes past the scheduled 3 hours, will the recording go through the end of the game or stop at the scheduled time?
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) I think I was a bit too confrontational. I'm just getting a bit frustrated with being called out for making conclusion about a player on his past results. I do like the debate though, and I’ll try to have a cooler head here. I'll also try to stop typing myself into corners. Hope we're cool, Leonard. It's all good man,
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) That was 4 years ago and it was an anomaly. The Rays might legitimately be the third best team in baseball. That's all you need to know about the AL east. I know it was 4 years ago, that's why I put 2006 in there. The team that won the series that year had 83 wins in what would have probably been considered the worst division. The "best division in baseball" doesn't necessarily mean anything.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Really? Not even after the last four years of Mark Kotsay being a below-average to ordinary hitter? When can we start forming conclusions? I can wait. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kotsama01.shtml Here is your post: Maybe its just me, but I found it ironic and humorous that you ask him to wait to tell people not to jump to conclusions.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:41 AM) You will be sore for about 1 week. If you start on a Monday, your Thursday will be Yoga day, which would work just fine with your softball game being that evening. Thanks!
  12. Wasn't the AL Central "the best division in baseball" in 2006?
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) This works both ways Bolt. You have been extremely loud about it for the better part of a month It's never too soon to jump to conclusions.

Ok, looks like I'm going to give this a shot. Gotta gather some equipment this week. Question for those with experience: My softball league starts in about 2 weeks. We play Thursday nights. How sore will I be? How should I schedule the workouts so that I can play ball? Should I make Thursday the rest day? Any suggestions?
  15. I would, but I am not on Facebook
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) Actually, Knightni already beat him to it... w/o the text. 948 to go....
  17. i guess everybody should just pick the same teams then?
  18. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Shouldn't this be in the SlaM forum? No, but thanks for the post. Every little bit helps!
  19. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) I did not really agree with the order. 93 Bo was bigger than 83 as far as a moment goes but 83 team won by almost 20 games that was impressive and should have been noted. I thought 2005 as a whole would have been a good moment the El Duque thing was big but they all should have been one great moment with either 83 or 93 replacing the El Duque one and then they should have been reordered. The Thomas HR thing was a little off and not a fan of the Banies HR but I think those were great player moments. Glad they left off 1919. I gotta say sometimes I forget how big a part of this organization Hawk Harrelson is.......I like that. Why do you say '93 was bigger than '83? That was the first postseason appearance since the 1959 World Series.
  20. I wish they would be a little more lenient on the spelling.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Nick Cage automatically ruins a movie for me. Totally, which sucks because some of his earlier stuff was really good.
