QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) You don't think that there are students that would make themselves vomit in order to provide the evidence to get out of a test if they weren't ready to take it? That would be gross.

Did you save any of the puke? You could bring it to him as proof.

4/9 Twinkies vs Sox - 7:05pm cdt WCIU

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) I have grown tired of hearing him around here for the past half decade as some sort of legit option as a back up. I was tired of hearing about him pre injury... post injury... it doesn't matter. He has sucked every stop he has been, and that's being nice. I'm pretty damn certain the org has never looked him as any sort of real option and year in year out yet you'll hear from people ''will lucy make it out of spring training?!?!?!''... and meaning it. He is a borderline scrub (lucky to be even be considered a scrub) and should be treated as such. Hope that answers your question for you. Oh. The Sox signed Castro in January. I don't remember reading Lucy's name on here until Castro got injured at the end of March. I will agree with you that his performance has been crappy, but he only has 16 PA in his major league career, so I guess I have just never really thought about him. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) Anybody know much about the Drive-by Truckers???? Going to see them at the Vic tonight. I've never heard of them, but the wife's a big fan. I've seen them about 8 times live. It will be a good southern rock show, although I have not see them live since Isbell left.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) So, what do we do about Teahen if he sucks all year? Get Herm to get Crede healthy? Dayan? Ugh. Didn't they extend his contract for 3 years too? -

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Wasn't it Ozzie who said Jones is the best CF on this team??? Ozzie said that he asked the players and they consensus was that is was Jones. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) These imitation monikers really bring down the integrity of this site. That's ironic considering the thread you started last night.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) It would be a hell of a lot nicer if a former player came back and didn't homer in his first at bat against us. I'd just take that. When do the Royals come to town?
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) yes, but there's obviously a lot more space and s***tier views at a festival, so prices should be lower. Oh yeah, but there's plenty of s***ty views from the lawn at that dump they used to call Riverport. I'm not saying you should come from out of town for it or that its a can't miss event. I am just happy to see they are doing something like this closer to where I live right now, and the prices are reasonable. Gotta start somewhere.
-
Hell, Kings of Leon tickets alone cost more than one day of that festival.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) Personally, I think that is a lot for the lineup. For reference, the first intonation/pitchfork 5 years ago with a much deeper lineup and similar headliners was 20 for 2 days 12 for 1. There are free festivals that have lineups close to that. If they want to have it be a big deal to draw people from out of town, they need it to be either much cheaper or get a much better lineup. Not sure what their goals is, but I think $38 for 9 bands is pretty reasonable compared to other summer concert ticket prices.

QUOTE (SteveB23 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I have no idea...but more importantly, who's the woman in your avatar? "Adult" actress/model Shay Laren.

St. Louis is getting in on the mini-music festival thing this year with Lou Fest in Forest Park. $38/day or $64 for both days. Lineup includes Titus Andronicus, Built to Spill, Jeff Tweedy, She & Him. Not too bad for the price.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) You asked what roster would we take with an equal or lesser payroll and the Rays immediately came to my head. I didn't say they were a perfect team. They've got issues at 2B and C. RF might not be a big thing for them if they leave Zobrist out there, which he played tonight. How do I quantify their offense and defense vs our pitching? I don't understand what you're asking. They flat-out have a better lineup and their team defense is worlds better. You want me to provide stats? I shouldn't have to. I asked 2 questions in that post and you gave one answer, I didn't know for which question. I see that they have a better lineup & defense, but when you say: "And whatever advantage we have in pitching gives way to the big edge they have on us in hitting and the ENORMOUS edge they have defensively." Is that measurable or is it just what you think?

QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) I don't think I was trashing any player specifically, more like Ozzie's use of said players. I just think that Kotsay shouldn't be an everyday player and that he should be in the lower part of the order when he does play. Yeah, Mark Kotsay could theoretically be a great hitter because we can't rule anything out before it happens, but I see absolutely no reason whatsoever that would point to this conclusion. I understand that all teams are going to have faults one way or another and that not every player plays like they are expected or predicted to. However, that doesn't mean we should just ignore our faults and pretend like they don't exist because of the one in a million chance a player plays way over their head for a season. In the beginning of the season, you should build the line up based upon reasonable expectations and adjust for which players are under performing and over performing after some meaningful baseball has been played. Ozzie isn't doing this right now, which is the entire point of this thread. I don't necessarily think Kotsay should be any everyday player either, but I don't think the plan is for him to be one, so I am not worried about that until it actually happens.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) And what would a Rays fan say if their starting LF/3B was Juan Pierre and Mark Teahen? And their rotation might be young. But David Price and Wade Davis project out to elite #1 and #2 starters. Jeff Niemann looks like a solid middle-of-the-rotation guy. And whatever advantage we have in pitching gives way to the big edge they have on us in hitting and the ENORMOUS edge they have defensively. Well, I'm not sure which of my questions you were answering when you said the Rays. I'm guessing you meant that you would take their roster and not that they have no faults in their lineup. Maybe in the long run theirs will be better, but for this season, I will take our players with their track records over any projections. Also not sure how you quantify their offense & defense vs. our pitching. Is there some stat for this or is it just your opinion?
