QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) And he was fortunate enough to have two of those closers be really, really good. As many bad things Ozzie dealt with that year, he had far more good things happen to him. Are you saying that when good things happen a manager should not get credit, but when bad things happen he deserves the blame?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) He won in 05 on outstanding starting pitching, and a bullpen playing out of their mind. The offense was terrible for most of the season, and luckily got hot for 2 weeks at the right time. He didn't get to play his ozzie ball for most of 05 because Scotty Pods had a bad groin. The 80s comment is more to point out his fascination with playing slap and tickle in the modern American League. We play in a home run park. He also had to go through 3 closers, the return and then departure of Frank, and a nearly disastrous collapse. He doesn't deserve all the credit, but does does deserve some.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) I believe his daughter died in 2005, that coupled with his tough breakup with Baltimore took a lot out of him. He's managed internationally since then and works with the Nationals front office. So you think he would come and manage these White Sox?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) We've had tons of thread about replacing Ozzie. I want Davey Johnson. Why hasn't he been in a major league dugout in 10 years?
-
Seems like half of this board wants Ozzie fired, but I haven't heard anybody suggest who should replace him.

Do any of your dogs get hot spots? Pete used to get them a lot, one time really bad. I give him fish oil pills in the summer now and they've really helped.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 17, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) I don't think we need to wait until next year to do that. Who would you replace them with?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) If that was the #1 criteria, then Detroit would be the unanimous winner. Detroit was not one of the choices. Anyway, I currently live in St. Louis which is regularly in the top 10 most dangerous cities in the US, heading that last a couple of times in the last decade, I believe. Not sure how much of a difference Detroit would be for me.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:27 AM) How do you shut it off? I think it'll probably bog down mobile devices. read the announcements -
QUOTE (T R U @ May 15, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Im still dying to see pictures from people who are not infomercial actors, however, my brother said his roommate has been doing it and has gone from 257 to 228 in about 7 weeks.. of course though, i havent seen the roommate since he was 257 so I still dunno Iamshack posted some a while back. I just finished my 5th week, I haven't lost much weight, but I can definitely see improvements. My chest and triceps are the most noticeable so far.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 14, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Speaking of which.. if only we can have a "lead-off hitter" like that man who can still drive in runs when called upon. I would love me some Denard Span for example. Pierre hasn't been very good and I'm not defending him, but only 3 players on our roster have a higher BA than his .252. -
What is a "sacrifice hit"? It is an oxymoronic expression.

QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ May 12, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) I have a question maybe you Chicagoans can answer...why does it seem like there are hardly any games on WGN anymore? The Sox seem to be once every 2 weeks and the Cubs are on maybe twice a week My guess is $$$.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) So I know some of the people in here finished the program, but whos still going at it? I was off of it for almost two weeks because I went on vacation to Las Vegas and I got sick right after the trip for a few days. Picked it back up a couple days ago and am about to start week 9 tomorrow. I started phase 2 this week, did Back & Biceps today so I have now done every video at least once. I don't really like using the bands, I'm trying to sell a guitar so I can buy adjustable dumb bells.

The last time I bought a glove, I got this foamy spray stuff that you rub all over the glove and then put it in the oven for a few minutes. Do that a couple of times and it's ready to go. It worked great for me.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 10, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) Man, what a screwed up schedule we have the next couple weeks. Offday 2 @ Minn Offday Stretch of 16 games in a row, starting with: 3 @ KC 2 @ Detroit 2 home vs. LAA Interleague series home vs. FLA 7 game road trip through Cleveland and Tampa How often do you see a 5 game home stand? The Cardinals have a 3 game home stand followed by a 3 game road trip this week.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2010 -> 07:24 AM) The teams from the eras you mention weren't top 5 in payroll but I hear you. Neither are these Sox.

Whatever UVerse is, I'm not really sure.

QUOTE (MEANS @ May 7, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) got some free tickets too to see Pearl Jam and Band of Horses tonight The show I saw Tuesday was really good. PJ played for over 2 hours and they were rockin', EV was having a lot of fun. Band of Horses was good, but I'd like to see them in a smaller venue.

First 2 drinks are on me for any Soxtalk members who make it out. Must be 21.
