A few years ago the Portland Beavers were considering changing their name to the Wet Sox.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 05:41 PM) Trevor Bell has an ERA of 135.00 right now. And Jhonny Peralta may need another round of juice. I'm sure he can find some in St. Louis. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) So what kind of gift do you think Paulie will get from the Rockies? Hanging curves, hopefully. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 4, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) It's still retroactive to the last time you played in spring training. Technically, he could come off the DL tomorrow, but they're giving him a week of at bats. OK, thanks.

So no minimum amount of time to be on the DL to start the season?

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 08:21 AM) Don't let facts get in the way of an Adam Dunn argument. Dunn haters don't like facts. The fact is that Dunn has a .722 OPS as a White Sox and that is why many people do not like him.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 2, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) I had to look up Geddy Lee. That's random. Rush is the group whose lead singer sounds like a girl, yeah? No, thats Heart. -
Its was doing that on my Roku, but I watched the last 3 innings on my computer and it worked fine. Haven't tried split screen.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) They might be raising the goal posts 5 feet anyway so it's gonna take a special kinda freak to dunk on that anyway I thought they were considering raising the uprights, not the crossbar. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 02:12 PM) Danks and Sale won't have to bat in Colorado if this holds. Seems strange to play an NL team so early. -

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) bolded above = plausible deniability. If that's the case, the only time in his career that MARK BUEHRLE was any thing more than "a #2 starter" was in 2001 and in 2007. 2013 Jose Quintana >>>>>> every year of Buehrle's career EXCEPT 2001 and in 2007. Everyone LOVES Mark Buehrle, including me. But somehow the year the Sox let him walk, they backfill the rotation with not one, but TWO lefthanded starting pitchers that ARE better than Buerhle - with both having ceilings to be even better than they currently are. Go Sox. Mark had a pretty nice 2005 too. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) Right. So his logic is even more flawed Has Ventura said there will be a platoon in LF or are you assuming? -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) I am still really concerned about the White Sox offense this year. Considering the changes were Garcia for Rios, Eaton for De Aza and Abreu for Konerko, De Aza and Rios were 2 of the more productive hitters last season. The Sox are going to need a lot of guys to improve and Abreu is going to have a lot of pressure to put up big numbers. The schedule is tough early, when Abreu may need some adjustment time, especially if it's cold. I read the Sox scored 2 or less runs in over 50 home games last year. Yes, I read that too, but it still is not true.

Looks like we are going with this: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, LF, CF, RF, OF, OF, Util SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, RP, P BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL We'll see how it goes.

QUOTE (juddling @ Mar 21, 2014 -> 04:00 AM) are you using AL/NL players or only one league??? I have run a 8 team 5x5 AL only league for years........ We have C-1B-2B-3B-SS-2B/SS-1B/3B-Utility 4 OF's 3 Bench spots/1 IR 12 pitching spots........ I've only done a couple mixed leagues.....seen bigger and smaller rosters......personal choice by league GM i guess We've always used both leagues, but we've had 12 or 14 teams. Maybe one league is the way to go, except they are all going to want NL and that sucks for me.
-
Unfortunately our league had to drop down to 8 teams this year. Does anybody who has ever played in an 8 team league have any suggestions for roster sizes/positions?

Any hear anything about Neil Young's new device called PONO? Apparently its like an MP3 player but with much higher sound quality. Website Pitchfork Article

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Is it possible that we have a Payne Stewart sort of situation but on a greater scale? http://mh370lost.tumblr.com/post/792146078...ion-to-the-ntsb Not sure if anything is being ruled out at this time.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 08:45 AM) No idea, my friend's brother is picking us up. All I know is that he lives a ways away from the airport. It's actually going to be my first time there. They both think baseball is boring but follow it enough to the point that we could have gone to a Cardinals game. Unfortunately, they're going to be in Pittsburgh at the time. There's 2 Frontier League teams in the area if you are interested, Gateway Grizzlies & River City Rascals. Tickets are inexpensive and you can usually sit very close.
