  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2014 -> 10:23 PM) Ladies and gentlemen, your trade deadline acquisition. 2 years in a row!
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) That is crazy to me.. As much as they mean to him I am surprised they aren't at every home game.. Well, its expensive, they live pretty far out, traffic, kids, etc......
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 06:26 PM) How come the announcers don't go on to be general managers? Also, what does any of that have to do with ignoring everything except homeruns when evaluating a player? Does Hawk do that? I don't think Hawk does that, but he was an announcer who went on to be a general manager.
  4. QUOTE (VAfan @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 01:35 PM) It's absurd to have to vote Chris Sale in. He was not only the winning pitcher last year, he should have been the MVP, and would have been if they hadn't just wired it for Soriano. You can cite several reasons why Sale should be an All Star, but his performance in last years game is not really one of them.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) That'd be the one. Must be slim pickings in Iowa.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) Casey's pizza FTW The gas station?
  7. I'm not really much of an NBA fan anymore. I usually skim through this thread just for the entertaining arguments and people freaking out over whatever somebody else says. So I gotta ask, Where's Steve?
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 1, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) It's also Andy Hawkins no-hitter day http://web.yesnetwork.com/news/article.jsp...2&oid=36019 I remember listening to that game on the radio at work. It was a Sunday day game and Glen Hibbard had a no hitter into the 6th.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 01:21 AM) Going to Nashville for the first time July 9-12. Any suggestions? QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) No need for any to be honest. Just walk around and you'll find s*** to do. I don't remember the name of any place I went to there but it's one of my favorite city's I've ever been to. Rowand was probably downtown on and around Broadway. There's tons of places to go. Geared toward tourists, but still fun. East Nashville, on the other side of the river is more artsy and definitely not as touristy. There's also the area around Vanderbilt, and a full scale replica of the Parthenon.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Yep, those are our middle infielders. Replacements in AAA: Marcus Semien, Carlos Sanchez, Micah Johnson, Tyler Saladino. As far as Beckham's return: I'm not sure; it's an interesting question. No one is dumb enough to ignore his last four years, but he has the tantalizing pedigree that makes you think he might be on the Alex Gordon development schedule. I guess it'll depend on how many buyers are in on 2B, but if it's 2-3, I'd think we could get something decent, though probably not "exciting." Which one of those guys do you feel confident playing major league shortstop?
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) Middle infielders names??? If its Alexei, who do you feel confident replacing him with? If its Beckham, what is a realistic return?
  12. Who could be traded from the major league roster that would bring back a decent return without creating a hole somewhere else?
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 04:31 PM) At some point next season. That'd be great, but I don't know if its something we should count on.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) Rodon will slide in nicely between Sale and Quintana When?
  15. The sun is brutal on our field for 6:30 games. Won 4-2 tonight.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Well I know the know downtown could turn into a sketchy area pretty quickly and one of the girls I'm going with has a propensity to wander when she's drunk. Obviously we'll be keeping an eye on her but is it safe to say as long as we stay around the Hilton and Busch Stadium we shouldn't be near any potentially troublesome areas? That area should be fine especially with the ball park crowd around. I definitely wouldn't want her to be wandering alone at night when the crowd clears out.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) I guess it's not really the weekend. Were going the 8-10th when Pittsburgh is in. What kind of info are you looking for? You are staying close, so getting to the ballpark will be no problem. They just opened Ballpark Village this season, its big and popular, but not really my thing. There's a place called Flying Saucer about a block from the stadium that has a great beer selection and decent food.
  18. Price is a free agent in 2016, right?
