  1. TO was not the reason why the Eagles lost. He put on one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history for a wideout, especially in his condition. He'd help the Bears tremendously. Does he drop some balls? Yes, but at the same time, his positives on the field definitely outweight the negatives on the field. He would do the Bears wonders.
  2. Apparently, according to the Tribune, Podsednik is in negotiations with the Sox.
  3. Hopefully Piper does get better. To me, HBK only works as a heel. He hasn't been that, nor will he ever go back to that. I'd only put the title on him for a change of recycling it between the three same guys, but that probably won't happen. They really screwed up with Punk though. They almost built another Edge at his peak, but kept knocking down Punk each time.
  4. I'm pulling for the Twins, but since everyone seems to think they'll win, I'll pick the Tigers.
  5. Personally, the Saints to me have shown they are the best team so far. With that said, there isn't a dominating team that has shown up yet. Saints to me show they have it all including a dynamic offense and a vastly improved defense. BTW, as far as defensive coordinators, Monte Kiffin is still the tops. Jimmy Johnson would be up there. LaBeau is great and the job Greg Williams has done thus far deserves an applause because they were atrocious.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) I'm more nervous than excited about the Bulls right now. Without Gordon...there's a real legit chance that this team could start off slowly, hit the circus trip, tune out Skiles VDN completely, and just be an abject disaster this year. Agreed. Alot is going to depend on Salmons and Rose. Salmons is our most important offensive player because even with Deng was good, he wasn't an explosive scorer. Salmons can be that. Good thing is he can score in multiple ways.
  7. As santo=dorf put it, his career OPS+ is only 101. Really, he's had 2-3 years of great success, but even then, his career numbers are worse than Swisher's. To see alot more of Rios' in depth stats, I suggest people read that Javy and Swisher thread. Anyways, Rios did look like a competent hitter finally for the last two weeks of the season. We'll see what happens.
  8. Taker IMO is worse than Triple H. When was the last time Taker cleanly put someone over? Now this little snitching stunt with Punk only because Punk asked why Cena doesn't have to dress up. He's a baby. Add in that whole "divas need to work with my girlfriend since she's the only one who knows how to wrestle" schtick, he's gotten pretty annoying.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) lol. You really believe that you were going to get hit with taxes for the Olympics that you aren't going to get hit with now? How is that exactly? What local governmental things are going to not be enacted and taxes added, that were going to get done before, specifically? I didn't think the green was necessary, but I was being sarcastic. But it seems like that's the argument for not wanting the Olympics.
  10. I'm guessing it is probably Wells. The clubhouse was the reason why the last manager went. JP tried his darnest, and I think Cito was a great manager to hire. They need to clean house there, but I think Cito should get another shot. I mean, how many managers does it take for you to realize that it's the players, and not the manager?
  11. Can't trade AJ. He's one of the leaders. The reason why he needs to stay most is that he isn't afraid to say what needs to be said. With Dye, Thome, and PK, I have doubts they really even say much in the clubhouse. They're all quiet, lead by example, type leaders. None of them were fiery guys though. None of them striked me as, I don't want to only beat you, I want to embarass you type players. Teams need those type of leaders as well. While AJ may agitate alot of people, he is very much needed in this clubhouse. I'd hate to have another clubhouse where no one seems to care, except for Ozzie.
  12. Yeah, Huet does blow. I still don't see what Tallon or whomever asked for him, ever saw in him. At his very best, he's a middle of the pack goalie.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) And the vast majority of this debt is going to happen anyway, because if you don't you are going to have a rust pile of a transit system, and dirt roads for interstates. It would have been nicer for everything to be under the eyes of the world, so it would have had to be done the right way. Instead it is all going to happen anyway, and it will still all be done in a backroom somewhere. As for the olympic debt, it has been pretty well proven that there wasn't going to be some huge debt left over. The Olympics in the US don't lose money. That's crazy talk. Now that we didn't get the Olympics, we won't have increased taxes, our infrastructure will still be improved such as roads and public transit, more affordable housing will still be built and now our education system will improve as well as our crime rate because our city won't have to be under the watchful eye of the world! Btw, I live in Chicago.
  14. Well some are saying because of bad sales, but I've heard that's just the fluff being thrown out there. Apparently there was creative differences and Gaga thought she would be better off playing on her own in smaller venues.
  15. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) But the world is ending in 2012 anyways.. LOL, I was about to post that.
  16. The whole Obama not wanting to go thing was not a spinoff. I've heard other outlets stating the same not using Chuck Todd as a source. And someone posted what he said before me, hell before Chicago was eliminated.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) Lots to not like about Richie, but honestly here, I do feel for him a bit. I do feel bad for him. The whole 3rd airport, the International Hotel and Casino he wanted to put in downtown and now the Olympics all big projects where he could leave a reminder for his legacy all failed miserably.
  18. Apparently the South American countries finally ganged together and voted for Rio because they all wanted Rio to get it simply because they've never had it. With that said South American countries vote US. Europe is our biggest competition when it comes to things like this. They weren't going to vote for the US. So Rio went with the strategy, if we don't get it, f*** it, we don't care who gets it. They took a chance, and it worked out big time. If they didn't take that chance, Tokyo would've been eliminated first, so those votes would've went to Chicago, then, Madrid would've been next who would've gone either way. South America didn't want to take the chance of that and they knew everyone would not vote US in the first round since they're voting for themselves. So South America stood united for once and voted for Rio. Keep in mind, the US only probably got votes from Canada and Mexico. Chicago basically came to the gunfight with a pencil.
  19. Daley has gone awol, but they're saying he feels like a failure because Daley before he goes out wants a big legacy project and he felt this was finally it. Well, he failed.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) This was the least likely thought expressed in this thread By the prostitutes or the woman on the beach? Technically alot of them are both. Ah, I gotta go to Rio.
  21. QUOTE (Nixon @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) The IOC has always held that they look at cities not continents. You're not supposed to be looking at continents, but I guarantee, a ton of IOC members are.
  22. Chuck Todd just said as stated earlier, Chicago political ties in Chicago that are connected with White House (Daley, R Emanuel, I'm looking at you) basically cornered Obama into going and Obama didn't really want to. He stated he thought it would be overkill and Chicago was being too over the top with the situation and they were twisting his arm. Todd ended up saying, If Chicago needs another favor from the White House or the president, they probably should hold off on asking because the president wasn't too happy on going in the first place.
  23. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I'm rooting for Madrid to get them now. f*** Rio. Why? Rio is a really nice city. Even with the vast amount of prostitution and corruption. But the people there are really nice, their presentation was great, and it would be the first time for South America.
  24. I doubt he was the only one. I think Ozzie was pissed at the fact that the vets allowed that to happen and probably were joining in. Oz probably wanted someone, anyone to step up and say, "Hey, turn that s*** off. We got our asses kicked and you care about a meaningless football game?" and none of the vets ever said it. Again, it wouldn't surprise me if Dye, PK, and AJ were all watching too.
