Fact is, Chris Young is the next bonafide Hall of Famer ala Jeremy Reed and Javier Vazquez is poop.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) That sounds like a whole lot of moves to me. Probably too many. Just looked, and I can't believe Gonzalez is batting .284. That is much higher than his career average. I don't really want him. He's there for defensive purposes.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) If it's true, we can blame Jose's agent for KW acquiring Vazquez. I now hate this man. I remember that. It broke the day Contreras signed his extension. The guy thought Jose should wait and he'd get more money at the end of this season(which isn't a bad plan), but he never presented or asked Jose about it. Personally for FA, I'd like to trade Buehrle for Oswalt, sign Alex Gonzalez(his defense is always there and he never takes bad offense out there into the field with him) and sign Mulder/Zito. Trade Vaz or Garcia for Scott Linebrink, and sign Rheal Cormier. Rotation: R - Oswalt R - Contreras L - Mulder/Zito R - McCarthy R - Vazquez/Garcia Bullpen: Rheal Cormier Scott Linebrink Mike MacDougal Neal Cotts Matt Thornton Closer: Bobby Jenks Lineup: LF - Podsednik 2B - Iguchi DH - Thome 1B - Konerko RF - Dye 3B - Crede C - Pierzynski SS - Gonzalez CF - Andersen

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
nitetrain8601 replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Well I don't mind giving up that HR simply because it was low and it didn't hang like most of his meatballs. Brian Roberts just hit it. -
I respect Tim. He admitted that he made a mistake which I can't really blame him for making. He usually doesn't report crap. If I had to guess though, this trade rumor came from the White Sox side.
-
Maybe we're seeing why Buehrle dropped so low in his draft.
-
Nightengale is probably the best when it comes to info about trades in the MLB. He was one of the very first to break Griffey to the White Sox last year. What he says, I believe.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) I'm kind of tired of the "I'm sure the players are as upset/angry/frustrated as the fans are right now" BS. If they were as upset as we are, then I would think we'd see some intensity in these guys. They are rolling over and playing dead. They have been flat as a pancake since the ASB. I see no fire. Exactly, only ones that I could see that are pissed are Pierzynski and Cotts.

QUOTE(dyenamite23 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) i dont no if he's available but what about francis I'd definately love Francis, but he's the franchise in Colorado.

Right now, everyone minus Crede, Garland, Contreras, bullpen should be replaced. They all look like spiff. Yes, I typed "spiff".

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) they cant....if there was a way to bet i would 2nd half lines on Bodog.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Yea, this team can't score off of Lohse. Especially not with 5 more innings to hit in. We let a guy like Mr. Wasdin shut us down. I was suprised our offense even clicked for that inning. It is ballgame. I predicted over under for Buehrle for today's game would be 8.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) We dont need another reliever. Our bullpen looks real solid now. The only way you get another bullpen arm is if for the love of god you are putting bmac into the rotaiton and sending one of the pitchers away. However that isnt likely considering one of them is a golfing buddy and the other is related. A left fielder who can hit better that our glorified singles hitter out in LF would be nice. I know, that's why I said we're getting neither. Or we'll just clone Crede a bunch of times and have them play different positions.
-
Guys you got it all wrong. This is typical Kenny flying under the radar. We're not getting Zito or Soriano. We're not getting another reliever either. There is only one man that I see us getting. The Man, The Myth, The Legend... ^^Coming soon to a Sox game near you.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) At least MacDougal looked good. He may wind up to be a huge pickup. For next year.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) 12 of the 16 National League ballclubs are within 6 games of the division or wildcard, and not ONE team aside from New York has inquired about him? I knew over last offseason, when everyone was suggesting, "wait until midseason to trade a starter because teams will overpay," that nothing would happen. We never seem to be in a good position concerning value of our players. Typically, we're the team overpaying for talent. Where's the pseudo Williams out there willing to overpay for Garcia? I remember talking about how we should trade someone in the middle of the year. Well, where's our benefits?

Tim is very accurate. He never posts bs intentionally. If a deal didn't go through, it's because it fell apart, not because it was fabricated. He's one of the best in the biz and I think he gets overshadowed by Gammons alot.

Hey ChiSoxfn, when this gets super long, could you just merge it with the locked thread and we'll start another. I have a feeling people will have at least 120 more pages of discussions on Soriano. Soriano = Griffey & Chavez combined in terms of discussion on this board.

QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) I value McCarthy second behind Anderson. It's a close second tho. Not to be an ass or anything. Alf = Soriano Oops, I was rewording and didn't delete the whole thing I meant to. My bad. QUOTE(vandy125 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Who would you rather have (these are ESPN projections based upon what they have done this year)? ______G______AB_______R_______H______2B______3B______HR_____RBI______SB______BA_____OBP_____SLG _____154_____590_____113_____161______38______10_______5______63______50___0.272___0.349___0.397 _____161_____656_____120_____189______41_______3______51_____102______41___0.288___0.361___0.594 The first one because he's sooooooo dreamy and and and he has speed.
