  1. I thought it was Steve Phillips who pulled the trigger on that deal.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) I think it's going to be one or the other, not both. Ok, if that's the case, I rather keep Vazquez since he still has his stuff. Garcia is just messed up.
  3. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) See...We've got this kid named McCarthy... I thought both Garcia and Vazquez would be leaving. My impression of what Kenny is trying to do is trade for two bullpen arms.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Any trade we make that gets rid of Garcia would be terrific! He's so washed-up, and it wouldn't shock me if his ERA reaches 6 by the end of the season. We'd be a better team with McCarthy in the rotation and adding another reliever. I don't know if it's the fact that he's washed up or that he really doesn't want to throw his fastball anymore. If it's the latter, then I want him gone and this is coming from a huge Freddy Garcia fan. He's not even a great pitcher in day games or in big games anymore when last year, he was always good for that.
  5. The real key to this is who would be our 5th starter? I wouldn't mind Brett Myers, even though he did what he did. At least a Gavin Floyd. What's Randy Wolf doing these days?
  6. OMG, He could be our Carl Everett of this year!
  7. McCarthy did good yesterday from what I hear, but damn, you guys are on his nuts. Yesterday didn't change the fact that overall, he's been sucky this season and he has yet to show that he is good for more than a few starts in a season. Sorry for not conforming and ready to label this guy as the Messiah.
  8. Liriano is Santana redux, possibly even better. He's in no way a fluke. The guy just has the electric stuff.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Well, Havlat is a good player. But who will he play with? Something tells me that there's more dealing or signings to come. Crappy ones at that would be my bet.
  10. To get things straight, I'm not saying McCarthy sucks or that he sucked towards the end of last year. When I say he has shown me nothing, I mean over the course of a full year and/or as a bullpen arm. I think jacking with his mechanics from one year to the next may be a reason for this, but also, last year before his last 5 starts or so, he did suck. His over the top throwing motion will make him a worse pitcher IMO.
  11. 6+ hours and I missed the entire thing. FKN WORK!!1!
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) I'm saving this post and bringing it back up when BMac dominates. Hopefully, you'll be ready to eat some serious crow. And if he never does?
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) You don't think Brandon McCarthy and Neal Cotts are 2 examples of this? Brandon McCarthy still has shown me nothing really. I also don't like how he throws the ball anymore. He was better off with his mechanics he used last year. That over the top stuff looks like crap to me. And he also doesn't throw hard. Cotts came from Oakland. He has some power and I think that's a reason why he's suceeded. Guys who "know how to pitch" and don't have the power stuff usually are the guys who heavily depend on their defense. Over the course of their careers, they usually are inferior to the power guys. Think about it. The only top 5 pitcher ever that wasn't a power pitcher is Greg Maddux and you see how much he's struggled in the playoffs. I've been saying it for awhile. You need guys who have power. Guys who don't have it usually have no room for error, or else they get rocked. Case in point Mark Buehrle. BTW, Get rid of Widger and trade for Blanco. At least he can call a game, won't care if he's a backup and can play some defense.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) I kept asking every Red Cub fan today, so what part of NE do you or your family come from. The answer is, I dont come from NE or my family isnt from NE but I am a really die hard fan from Elgin. That's another thing that pisses me off about their fans. Most of them aren't even from Boston or have anything to do with the state of MA.
  15. Fans on SoSH are half classy and half jackasses. I used to be a Red Sox fan until last year when I went to the Cell to see the Sox vs Sox series. I heard about that goddamn "bloody sock" 50 times in half an inning, Red Sox fans would say bulls*** to every strike called against them and any ball given to us. Lots of them were jackasses who admit they didn't even watch the game of baseball. They just knew who Manny and Ortiz were. That's it.
  16. I read in today's paper that Kansas and UConn might soon join in on trying to recruit Derrick Rose.
  17. Fantastic, we bring in AJ for a blowout finally. Wrong move Ozzie.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 04:15 AM) It looks like the Chandler for Brown and Smith deal is going to go down. If I'm Otis Smith, I try to sell John Paxson the idea of doing a DeShawn Stevenson for J.R Smith sign and trade deal. Stevenson doesn't look like he's going to re-sign with the Magic and he wants $4-5M a season for about 4. The reason I suggest this and why I think it would make sense for the Bulls is because it would be beneficial for you to have a defensive stopper at SG, so you can let Ben Gordon become instant offense off the bench again. He's got the perfect size at 6'5 and I think it would make a lot of sense for both teams. Don't know if I could see Smith and Gordon co-existing on the same team when they both play the same position. Gordon will be our starting SG. Paxson has already said that.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) AJ is far and away my favorite player on this team, I'll be damned if I'm just gonna sit back and watch some other f***ers kick the s*** out of him in this final vote. AJ deserves this s*** for being AJ, the White Sox fans owes it to him, has there ever been a player who came to the Sox and endeared himself to the fanbase quicker than AJ? He has been nothing but great for the Sox on and off the field since comming here last offseason, that guy loves this fanbase and these fans need to show that they feel the same way. That was beautiful man. I'm voting AJ. Just voted for him 30 times within the past 15 minutes. I shall keep voting dammit and we will make our mark! Just make deals with Dodger fans, Met fans, Philly, Milwaukee and San Diego fans as well.
  20. I don't like to hear that Buehrle made the All-Star game. That's a crock.
