Backup Catchers
Don't know how his career numbers are against lefties, but anyone know what Damian Miler is doing these days?

Keepin' that Motown Mojo = Sox @ Tigers
Just saw a post that says Wider is playing tommorow. Oh well. Maybe we'll win the next series against them, because unless they call up their entire AAA lineup, the Sox won't beat the Tigers trotting Chris Widger out there.

Pathetic. It's over fellas. Hopefully we win tommorow.

Something From Yahoo
QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Indeed. For Wells, we move Anderson over. We don't move Vernon. Vernon can play CF all he wants. That'd be this lineup, I guess: Iguchi, 2b Crede, 3b Thome, dh Konerko, 1b Wells, cf Dye, rf Pierzynski, c Uribe, ss Anderson, lf Crazy. Never going to happen, but crazy. That would also likely be the best defensive outfield in history. I think I rather have Brian in CF, especially at the Cell. Vernon is a little bit overrated defensively. Even some Jays fans tell me this. He's great, but not as great as people think.

Starting a New Mojo--Sox @ Tigers
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Mackowiak is a lefty also. Okay, well whatever. As long as Widger doesn't play, I'm happy.

Starting a New Mojo--Sox @ Tigers
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Our lefty hitters look awful tonight. Yea, but I rather have Thome and AJ hitting instead of guys like Mackowiak and Widger.

Starting a New Mojo--Sox @ Tigers
How did Konerko not get to that ball? I know he's slow, but goddamn, he was right next to it and couldn't get it. It's not like it was a hard smash. That was a soft grounder.

Trade with the Reds?
QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Well it has happened before: Matt Karchner for Jon Garland Victor Zambrano for Scott Kazmir Bartolo Colon for Brandon Phillips Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore Teams sometimes have to pay high prices for pitching sometimes when they are trying to make a run for the playoffs, and it looks like the Reds are in win now mode and KW might be able to take advantage of that. We could add in Jason Stumm or Corwin Malone as well Bailey is still a high prospect in Cincy. Coffey is still seen as a guy who could develop very nicely for them. They both won't be traded in a deal for Freddy Garcia. Maybe one if you're lucky, definately not both.

Dammit, I forgot Robertson's a lefty. That means the Widge is catching. I wish I realized this before I put money down on bodog. FKKKKKKK

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) All the stuff about the legend of Freddy Garcia must be thrown out with his arm issues. Last year and in all of his years with the sox. On the road, during the day, against a good team was a lock. Now he is getting rocked, why...because an 88 mph fastball is easy to tee off on when it isnt located. The Freddy Garcia who threw the 1-0 game last year doesnt exist this year. If he did, he wouldnt be on the block. Freddy is getting absolutely rocked when he faces half way decent AL teams. Last year, he would pitch great against those teams. Billy Koch threw 100mph, and was an elite closer. Then he lost 6 mph on his fastball and was meat. 94 was still fast enough, however Billy didnt have the control to pitch at 94. The same with Freddy. Sure pitchers can pitch in the 80s in the mlb. But they must have excellent control on the corners. Not just throw it over the plate for a strike. You keep bringing up about how he had bad stretches before. He never ever, ever threw this slow before. Not in a game, not for most of the season. He has always been 91-95. When he faced us in Seattle in 2000 he was mid 90s, all last year he was living 92-94. Now all of a sudden poof his velocity is gone. There is something different this year. So all bets are off. I agree. It's not like Freddy just isn't locating his pitches. He's doing whatever he wants, just not with the velocity he needs to do it with. Loss of velocity means all bets are off.

Buying A Car
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Get a loan through your local bank or credit union and have on of your parents co-sign it with you. When I was trying to get my Corvette a few months ago, the dealership wouldn't do a loan (and I think it was an outrageous 11%) even though I had a great credit score. My mom always latched onto my accounts, and even though I had a credit card and paid it off on time, I still didn't have much credit. Sometimes co-signers are not an option. I know my mom wouldn't even think about cosigning anything. Heck, she wouldn't even cosign a school loan for me. Also, try out e-loan guys, from what I've heard, it's nothing but good news.

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) Well you have to look at what Vinny Castilla has done for them at 3B so far this season, he has a sub .600 OPS IIRC, and they don't really have anyone to replace him at this point. So I can definitely see them being interested in Fields, who would fit at Petco because he's a RHH. And he'll be a building block for that offense, because a main problem for them is that they struggle to score runs. Probably a good move by KW to move him while his value is at the highest it has been, if it's what's going to happen. Also Jason, the Sox may be interested in Cesar Carillo possibly, although he's injured ATM. He's got the stuff someone like Flash would like though. Oh if it was Fields for Linebrink and Carillo, I'd piss in my pants because I'd be ecstatic. Carillo has stuff this team needs to develop.

Buying A Car
QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) I would suggest poking around at www.edmunds.com; I gathered a ton of info from that site when i bought my car 3 years ago. In fact, i still use it a few times a week to get info on new cars. the site allows you to do research on the type of car you are looking for (coupe, sedan, convertable, etc), or by the price range, or just by Make. There are also a bunch of articles on what to look for when searching for a car, how to avoid getting raped in APR (in other words, go to your bank instead of having the dealership finance it for you), and even calculator tools to determine approx how much you payments will be per month, and TONS more. give it a try! I was just going to suggest the site. It really gives you everything you need to know before you buy a car.

I'd honestly see if the Mets bite on Freddy Garcia for Duaner Sanchez straight up. Duaner has "it".

My sources tell me Josh Fields has been traded to San Francisco for Jason Schmidt, "Balco" Bonds, Omar Vizquel, Armando Benitez, Mike Mathney, Matt Cain, Noah Lowry, Pedro Feliz, 3 packs of MLB Baseballs, and 4 packets of sunflower seeds.- The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks

Why did we send him? Carbrera had the ball before Crede even got into 3rd.- Sunday Yankees vs Whitesox 7/16/06 Gamethread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Its not. We aren't about to trade freddy for a damn near 40 year old reliever, not unless the team is also getting something for the future. I don't care how bad Freddy has been, a guy with his repetoire, his proven track-record of success, and his ability to pitch in the post-season, will allow the Sox to get a MAJOR package as if he were available he'd be one of the premiere pitchers on the market. Mack held to a single as the ball down the line hit that stupid corner. I think you're thinking best case scenario.- Buehrle
