The Official Cliff Politte Sucks Thread
nitetrain8601 replied to JenksForPrez45's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Politte sucks. Last year was a fluke year. There was a stat last year showing he was the most dependent player on his defense. Well, if you keep the ball high, no way the defense will bail you out since the ball will be reaching the warning track at the very least. -

Throw Crede in there. We have to. The game hangs in the balance right here. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Hypothetical? How many threads would ABOZ have created if this outing was a JG outing? When does MB get a clever nickname like Judy? After all, he's the pitcher who allows the truly big innings, and never pitches over the defensive lapses behind him. How dare you go at Mark Buehrle The Great like that. HANG HIM! I'd like to suggest, Mary. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) On the other hand, this is an ideal place to let Cliff "the Gas Can" Politte get some work. That wouldn't be shabby either. Instead David Riske is warming. -

Why let Buehrle sit? I'd tell his ass, "I'm not burning my bullpen because you put together a s*** outing against a s*** team." -

Game over. A 2-run Jack by the pitcher and a 3-run Jack by the 8th hitter. Mark Buehrle is s***ting the bed. -

I think if they're going to give Crede a day off, they're better playing Uribe at 3B and Cintron at SS. -

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) Did Iguchi decide to not play today? I mean seriously where the hell was he on either of those plays? That's my question. He looks like he's dogging it out there right now. Especially on that last play. It should've never made it past him, but he didn't look like he really tried to pick up the ball. At least I'll be getting money from bodog for this game. -
I'd do it, but I don't think it would happen at all.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) westchester is not chicago. Weber shouldn't try in Illinois then because he's losing a ton of them. So as far as sporst are concerned, the Illini have a great coach who sucks donkey balls at recruiting and a sucky football coach who could recruit with the best of them. Maybe they should spend more time together.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) Where did that same optimism in August and September get us? I'm not saying optimism is bad at all. In fact, I promote optimism. I get mad though when people just brush off our real team problems. Our pitching is not looking good at all.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) These kinds of posts make me laugh. You HAVE to take 3 of 3? On the road? Do bad teams like PIT and KC go 0-162? OR even 40-122? No. They win 60 games or so, maybe more. Do good teams like the Sox or DET go 13-0 against KC? No, of course not - they might go 10-3. Bad teams beat good teams on occasion. We won two of three, and almost won the third, on the road, without our DH. What is the problem here? Times like this, we need to remember the axiom: every team wins a third of their games and loses a third. Its what you do with the other third that makes the difference. We have the 2nd best record in baseball, and its late June. I am soooooo not worried. No, but teams like the Pirates and KC don't play the two best teams in baseball or defending champs 162 games in a row. The type of optimism reminds me that of the Red Sox fans optimism last year. They were flamboyant and cocky saying, "We got this. Don't worry. We'll turn it around." all the way into October. Where did it get them again? Oh yeah, a first round sweep.

I've read a couple of pages in this thread and I must say, I don't think this has to do with pessimistic fans. I see SSI talking about how we fkd up by not taking all 3 and he's one of the most optimistic fans around here IMO. Fact is, you have to take 3 of 3 from the worst team in baseball. Especially when you consider yourself the best team in baseball, you're supposed to be the best team in baseball, and you're trying to win a division.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) It wouldn't happen until Mid-July because of Salary cap issues. What salary cap issues? I've heard TC is included in the trade which means we could make it work. I don't think we're doing it simply because I don't think KG will ever be anything else other than a TWolve, but it's possible. -
But the PS3 is a BluRay player which costs $1,000.00 alone. Want proof? Check the sales ad from bestbuy this past week and it's there. Samsung I think is the model.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) :headshake :headshake This is why I think Tyrus is a Tyson clone. Both don't have much offensive game to speak of. Tyrus can't shoot despite what he showed in that 30 minute workout. It's just like when Andre Iguodala did shooting drills for several teams 2 years ago. He was red hot, had the right mechanics and teams thought he could actually shoot. That's not the case (In no way am I dogging Iggy either because he's a fav player of mine). Both Ty and Ty accelerate at rebounding and their only forms of offense are putbacks. Thomas moves with a little more fluidity, but that's about it. Only thing I'll say is that Tyrus is shorter, so I could easily see him being a Josh Smith, especially since he's said he sees himself as a "3" moreso than a "4". Josh Smith isn't a bad player, but we don't need a Josh Smith on this team. -
QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) First of all, like I said coming into Tuesday's game A-Rod had the highest OPS among 3Bs in the AL. He was one thousandth of a point ahead of Glaus. I was not wrong. A-Rod was 0-4 today and Glaus was 1-4 so I guess they could have flip flopped but I did not have the up to the second numbers. 2nd of all I don't see how more HRs can put Tejada ahead of Jeter when Jeter is hitting like 20 points higher and have an OBP that is 60 points higher and a higher OPS. He has had a great season stealing bases 15/17 and is the leader of one of the better teams in the AL. I guess statistically one could argue he is only marginally better than Tejada, but I think it would be very difficult for one to say he has been better than Jeter. I also disagree with defense being a wash, Jeter is more reliable on the routine plays and just as spectacular on the tough ones. Tejada deserves to be an all-star, he deserves to be Jeter's backup. I disagree. Tejada over his career is a much much better defender with much better range. Even most Yankee fans will admit that Jeter doesn't have much range. I'd take tons of players ahead of Jeter defensively at SS.

For coach of the year, I voted Jim Larranaga from George Mason. What he did with that team was just too awesome. Sox are the best team though.

I just wanted to add, I think it's great your spending time with your nephew and take him to ballgames instead of sticking him in front of a tv like alot of people I know do. Kids need to get out more these days and you're doing a great job of making sure he does that when he's around you at least.

Official 2006 NBA Draft Thread
nitetrain8601 replied to AssHatSoxFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
A couple of things: Rudy Gay has no heart whatsoever. He suffers from what I like to call the "Frank Williams sydrome". He has tons of talent, he's gifted, but yet he doesn't try for 80% of the game. He thinks he could turn it on whenever he wants and most of the time, he's just disinterested in the game. Not really trying to assert himself. Not because he's shy or quiet, he just doesn't have the will power to dominate like he should. Gay is the reason why UConn didn't go all the way. His teammates bailed him out all season at UConn and it finally caught up to them. 2)Bulls will probably take Thomas, though he has Tyson Chandler written all over him. Aldridge would be a better pick IMO though. 3)ESPN knows jack about the NBA draft. They constantly jockride all college players and their rankings are way off, especially for Bilas. Randy Foye #1 overall? I love the guy's talent and all, but um, no! And they say Bargnani has the least potential out of all of the potential draftees. Makes me wonder if they even watch basketball games other than the tourney games. -
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Would the Tigers trade away Guillen? It seems sort of foolish, particularly with some of the speculation swirling about Tejada. Could be a big risk for the Tigers. Tejada > Guillen by a wide margin. I think too many people on soxtalk nitpick about everything. If I signed to a team that told me they were going to do their damn best to compete, then watch as every FA signs elsewhere, I'd be pissed too. Especially when pitching isn't working out at all.
