  1. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Why do people think that he pitched bad in the minosota game God he gave up like 1 mistake to Tori Hunter nothing he can do the old johan santana was pitching. 5 ER IIRC. That's against a bad hitting club.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Why was this a big game? Because it was the Red Sox? Red Sox twice. A's 3 times. Minnesota. Yankees.
  3. QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Buehrle is what, 2 year older? How many more star calibre seasons has he put together? What an asinine thing to even be discussing. "WHO'S OUR ACE" He's hit his ceiling quicker. As far as ace pitcher he is not that. He just has been our best pitcher but remember, we really haven't had that many good pitchers around here. Garland didn't develop until this year. Bartolo and Wells had their worst seasons here. People's eyes have been blinded by that. He's a nice pitcher, but he's not an ace. Learn to be able to pitch in pressure situations and against playoff type clubs, and then he'll be an ace. Until that, he's just feeding off of bad hitting clubs in the Central.
  4. QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) blah blah blah we've also played a higher caliber of opponent since july 1. the al east can mash. And El Duque, our 5th starter, has managed. Same with Garland and even Count has been decent. Same with Freddy.
  5. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Jon Garland is more of an ace than Buehrle? Hahaha. Tell me how Buehrle has faired in big games. This doesn't only date to this year. Look at last year when he gave up like 8 runs in the first against the Yankees at home. Who was the only one who loss against the Twins especially after having an early lead?? Oh yeah, that was Buehrle this year. Buehrle has choked against the A's and Red Sox as well not once, but twice(well the A's 3 times). Buehrle gets a pass for the same s*** Garland got flak for.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Oh he's had more unerned runs over that stretch than Garland has ever allowed in a full season, but we all know how much flack Jon took over the years for not being able to pitch over mistakes. It's time to call out Buehrle's sorry ass for the same thing. Don't say that. I was getting flamed for suggesting such. He's no ace if he can't pitch in big games and get over pressure situations. Garland has passed up Buehrle and is the real ace. He doesn't choke in big games or big situations. Treats all teams the same. Buehrle can't do that. He's simply become the Jeff Baj of the major league team - overrated!
  7. Maybe Buehrle should take notes on a real ace at hand.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Go to bed, kid. I'm a legal adult. I wouldn't say I'm a baby goat.
  9. He has the talent to work his way up. He just doesn't want to I guess. If you're a RB and can't make it with the Broncos, you can't make the league.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) My gawd, STFU. Freedom of speech. I still have a big thread that I'm making on the subject of Buehrle being overrated around these parts and facts supporting why he isn't a true ace. Mainly because he sucks in big games.
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Garland, this year's AL Cy Young winner, will get the Game 1 win. You forget who manages this team. Ozzie will ride Buehrle in Game 1 until he gives up 11 runs. Then he'll decide it's time for Jizz to clean up his mess.
  12. Whatever you do, don't get Game 1 Tix. Chances are Mark Buehrle will choke.
  13. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) If in fact the Reds have put Griffey on waivers, I think they must have decided to part with him. Otherwise, what would be the point? I think they already know who is interested in him. All teams put almost all their players on waivers. Just to see what's out there and open possibilities in the offseason.
  14. Anyone think that Iguchi should've sat today because of his inability to hit a curve?
  15. Honestly, I don't think we should be rubbing it in. CLE has an extremely easy schedule down the stretch. They could catch us. Honestly, would you like other teams doing that to us if we were down and out? I don't think so.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) ^^^ I went to zero football games when I was in High School, and I have no interest in going to any now. Me neither. Basketball is where it's at for me.
  17. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Ok the plan is take over the front of the line. Soxtalk Patio Party at the World Series!!
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I really need to stop dreaming. Getting Griffey would be amazing. I'm already debating which jersey I should buy when he comes here, the sleveless home or the road grey jersey? I'll buy each one. Sleeveless, White, Black, Grey.
  19. I thought the Maggs/Willie thing was bad last year, but man this was brutal.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Considering that we were offering Contreras to any and all takers before the trade deadline, and Ozzie's preference of Duque over Contreras....I think it's very likely we try to trade him in the offseason. He's going to be making a lot of money next season, and with only one year left on his deal, some teams around the league might be very interested in trading for him and hoping for the best. I don't remember Contreras being offered to and for anyone. In fact, Contreras wasn't even part of the Burnett trades. Some people speculated he might be in the deal, but when it came down to it, it was Marte and BMac. I've heard of teams wanting Contreras(FLA & SF) but it doesn't mean we put him out there.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Timo Ozuna Timo Widger Timo Rowand Blum Crede Uribe So the regulars today?? I don't think Timo is getting enough at bats today. He could play SS, can't he?
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) I don't think Sox will lock up Crede to a multi-year deal. Also, I fully anticipate the Sox trying to trade Contreras and Marte this offseason. Maybe Marte, but I don't see them trading Count. I don't think BMac will be ready next year. I think they'll just let Count and El Duque ride out their current contracts and then when they're up, BMac will at least take Duque's spot.
  23. Problem with Marte is he short arm's his pitches most of the time now. Look at his release in 2003 and look at it now. He short arms it a lot. That's why this year, it's been rare to see him dial it up for the 95 he used to hit consistantly. Even compare the game against Cleveland with one of his bad games and you could see it. That's why he doesn't get lefties out and that's why his slider really isn't effective anymore. Cooper has failed with this guy IMHO. That's the only guy who has really deproved on this pitching staff since Coop got here.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) This trade will likely all revert back to whether or not the Reds ownership wants to trade Griffey Jr. I'm not sure why everyone thinks they'll change their mind about 2 weeks after saying no to the trade the first time. That's true.
