QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Correct, this board criticizes absolutely nobody. As a matter of fact I don't think I've ever seen a player bashed or for that fact the best team in baseball has never been bashed on this site either. It's frowned upon as evident by your sarcastic post. You criticize and the first thing that'll come out of this board's mouth, "STFU, we're first in the league...blah blah blah, etc" I don't give a s*** about best record. That's because of what our pitching did in the first half for the most part. No way in hell you could fool anyone into thinking this team is better than the Cardinals, Red Sox, the A's or even the Angels at this moment in time. So f*** that lame ass excuse.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) This coming from the guy who declared our pitching staff overrated because Mark and Jon had bad games against the Red Sox. I said overrated by people on this board. It's true. Buehrle is seen as a god. He could have a Kerry Wood like career and people will still say he's great. That's how homeristic it's been around here. Everyone is exempt from criticism unless designated sucky by 20 people on this board.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) But Hawk says we have nowhere to put him in the lineup!!! Pods helps our OF be the best defensively in the majors. Hawk is soooooo retarded it's not funny. I know he's trying to downtalk Griffey because KW probably told him it looks like we won't land him, but damn, don't be so f***ing stupid in your comments.

QUOTE(Mr. Chairman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) I am going to bring you a dream, as a token of appreciation. Griffey??

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Eugene Parker aspires to be Drew Rosenhaus I see Or Benson is a greedy f*** who wants too much money. Honestly, I don't think it's Eugene Parker using Benson as a puppet like Rosenhaus does. I think that Benson just wants sooo much money. He isn't going to get what Phillip Rivers got so he needs to stop hoping for that.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana
nitetrain8601 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Much of the fear over whether Rush will qualify or not comes from the fact that a couple of schools he attended in HS no longer exist making it more difficult to get their records. From everything I've read and heard he has a qualifying GPA and SAT score. Thanks for the info. I hope he chooses Illinois because I know he would be great as a basketball player. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) On Sportsnite tonite the Sox beat reporter said that KW said during his interview that they basically have the trade out there, and they have done as best as they possibly can, and its up to the other side to decide to do it or not. Kenny going through the media? Also said KW doesn't think any move will be done within the next 2 and a half weeks.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) If the Sox did land Griffey, he wouldn't play hardly any corner OF at all. Maybe a little but you wouldn't see more than 4 games out there for him. He'd play DH exclusively and occationally play some CF. LF/RF wrench the s*** out of an OFers legs, that's why guys like J.D. Drew want to play exclusively in CF, the angle you have to take in the corner OF puts too much torque on your legs. I think Drew is the only person to think that. Your hamstrings are worked the same play any OF position. There are many times in CF in which you have to run hard all the way back or all the way forward. In fact, I would say playing CF takes more toll on your legs and hammy's than playing the other OF positions if anything. I guess since JD Drew says it, it must be true. I also agree with Mr. Chairman's thoughts on Aaron Rowand.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Mark Buerhle I don't know. He had that year in the bullpen. He really wasn't lightout from the bullpen either from the start.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) If some goof named Matt Murton stolen from the Red Sox can contribute immediately for the Cubs, shouldn't be too much to expect for Anderson. I expect quality results from the best hitting prospect in our organization. Now, I already know how everyone will act if Anderson struggles for an extended period--some will call him a bust, others will regurgitate a slogan developed just for White Sox pitching prospects: "Need more time to develop." But for once every 10 years, it'd be great for a callup to absolutely tear up pitching. Our team needs a spark in the lineup. Hopefully he'll provide it. Who was the last guy for the White Sox that just helped from the get go? Pitching or hitting wise. I can't remember at all. Frank.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Christie has the brains (on the court), and he's in great shape. He would help a good overall squad that needs some stopgap defense out of the SG slot. He's old, but not that old. Old in guard terms. I agree that he would help some team as a stopgap, but I don't think the Bulls should be looking for one with a wife like his.

We better keep Konerko, his numbers are just as...
nitetrain8601 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) Im just saying I wouldnt shed any tears if we lost Konerko and I dont think he is worth more than 8 million per year. I agree. If you can't trade for a 1B, sign him and trade him the following year and sign someone like a Nick Johnson or Hillenbrand. -
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) We know Bruce Levine is an idiot, but he's saying that expect to see Anderson on the bench a lot, and if he does play, he wouldn't be near the top of the order That's how I expect it to go down, basically meaning we shouldn't have put him on the 40 man roster if he wasn't going to be used. Should've used Willie and let him rot on the bench if that's the case.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) From the Red's fansite: No confirmation, or backup resources but a fan over there is saying: Redszone Take it for what its worth. SFF Wow, the poster there says he's heard the names of Honel or Hernandez(catching prospect) replacing Rogo.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
nitetrain8601 replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Naah, you misunderstood. Let's not forget that you have been s***ting on these here threads for quite a while now. It doesn't all boil down to just one particular conversation. Sometimes it's better to just read and NOT respond. You know what I'm saying? How can I understand what you're saying when you're typing? -
Dang, something must be wrong with the Guchi man as well.
-
Christie is supposed to be signing with Dallas. Personally I think he's done. He's not what he used to be and unless you have a decent defensive team around him. He's not a stopper anymore.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana
nitetrain8601 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I'm just going by what Brandon said in the past. Which is... "Rush has said he had the grades and test scores to qualify for a scholarship. " according to a Scout article recently about his visit to Kansas which is taking place today. Most of the time, if a recruit is good enough, somebody will take him in and find a way to qualify him. Thats why I doubt the academics excuse. Maybe to that school. I believe scout.com was one of the sources saying he didn't make it academically to Oklahoma and he wouldn't for Illinois(hence him going to IMG). -
Stupid. Now he's going to have to drive to Olivet-Nazarene for 2 days of practice. He won't be starting this year and basically put the Bears a year back with this.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
nitetrain8601 replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Nitetrain, I thought that you were just a basketball numbskull. I had no idea that you were so versatile. Basketball numbskull for saying that Joe Johnson improved on defense and is now a pretty good defender?? Go to any real basketball messageboard and say that and they'll laugh at you then continue to ban you. -
Next on the list is Chandler. JR & Pax are meeting with him tommorow in California. They're going to offer him a deal worth 60 million, but he wants around 75 million. Personally I think 60 million is too much for a guy who didn't average double figures in any category. After that, they'll get Curry signed up.
-
Some people think they matched just for the sake of matching and getting something for him Dec 13th when he is first eligible to be traded.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana
nitetrain8601 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) I'm not doubting that, I was just pointing out OU's past academic admissions. I would bet OU had another reason for the change in recruitment of Rush. Maybe he lost interest in their program, or maybe demanded playing time that Sampson wouldn't give, and academics was an easy excuse to stop recruiting him. I'm going to have to disagree. Many people had them #1 on his list of schools while the rest had them #2. He definately was high on their radar and vice versa. Even on draft night, they were talking about Brandon Rush and how he was going to go to IMG because his grades simply sucked and weren't good enough. That's why it was really really quiet for the past couple of months until this popped up. -
QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) I find it funny how you are saying Buehrle is overrated, when by the looks of it you are a Crede fan, talk about overrated this guy sucks. And by you changing the subject that just means that you were wrong, because Buehrle isnt overrated, if anything he is one of the more underrated pitchers in all of baseball. Nationally, he's rated just right. Around there boards, he's overrated. Just as overrated as Jeff Bajenaru around here and now Chris Young. There's a difference between being overrated and bad. Tell me anywhere where I said Buehrle sucked or Buehrle is the worst pitcher on our staff.
