  1. I dont know if this is right, but I remember him saying he wasn't going to sign anyone anymore(before the season started) so in midseason, if the White Sox needed a piece or two, they would have the financial flexibility to not worry about it. This team has needed a piece or two on the offensive end. Blum was not the answer.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) What is, never, Alex. What is, the last time they won, WHarris1. Sorry, but train gets the correct answer and gets to pick the next topic.
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) I worked for a little fast-food restaurant near my block earlier this year and it was fun. I worked with all of my friends. Time of my life. I'll work at Burger King, right next to 2 of my friends who work at KFc and across from my fest friend who works at McDonalds. We meet up after work and chill. Good times... chill at the White Castle in which none of you guys could get discounts probably.
  4. You shouldn't get one. You should have to earn a used car.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Check the run differential in the injun games with the sox. If you think by our record we beat them down. I suggest you look again. The only convincing wins happend in that last 4 game sweep. We havent hit besides 2 games yesterday in a month. The indians have a great bullpen and good pitching. But yeah I can see how we are just going to beat the crap out of them.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Can't hold it in anymore. All this Price talk is making me feel all warm inside. The Bills traded him...he did not sign with Atlanta. Buffalo got a 1st round pick...that being Willis McGahee. Sure 2003 blew ass...the team was mediocre, and I was left wondering if I liked the pick or not. In hindsight...yeah, it was decent. Okay, essentially a sign and trade, but did Price get to pick his team and get a new contract? If you want to get all technical, well that's what happened. Bears need one of these guys. And isn't Ogunleye a Rosenhaus client?
  7. So according to what Bruce Levine said, I could start ordering my Ken Griffey Jr. jersey?
  8. Just my guess, but I think Warrick might just sit out the year since he doesn't feel like rushing his come back if he doesn't have a team. I would definately look at him or Price. I think Price would be a borderline all-star again if he was a #2 WR. He's clearly not a #1 and I thought that to myself when ATL signed him.
  9. Never collected baseball cards. I do got an 2 Allen Iverson rookie cards, 2 Kobe Bryant rookie cards, a Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, Gary Payton and Grant Hill rookie cards as well as many others.
  10. That would be funny if he beats the Red Sox in the playoffs.
  11. Signed up. Basically saying we're desperate and that if we really want Griffey, KW would make it happen.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Isnt AJ a UFA? Can someone find me a link to his status?? With the $$$ thing, like I have said earlier in threads, NO ONE in Sox management knew they were going to have 20+ sellouts this year. Who knows how many games we will for the playoffs(if we get there )and I would have to expect a little increase in ticket sales. Moreover, if the Sox were to get bumped out in the 1st round pretty easy, which could happen very easily, I am truly confident in Ownership and KW that they would try to put us over the top for 2006 after a very dissipointing 2005 season(if we got knocked out 1st round.) I think all we have to do is offer him arbitration. I know that he's ours no matter what for next year and if the White Sox and AJ don't agree to a new deal, then he'll make like 2 or 3 million next year.
  13. He's better than Uribe no doubt, but do you bat him 2nd and have Iguchi bat 5th? I wouldn't want Iguchi or Furcal batting at the bottom of the order. Iguchi also was a power hitter in Japan. Kind of the Carlos Beltran in Japan. I'd say the 3 slot is still good for him because he still could move runners over and he could hit for more power. I say we trade for Griffey first in the offseason if possible.

  15. Apparently, I've heard that most of you guys who had been giving me s*** are now starting to realize I was right. Starting to realize that, "Best team in baseball!" in the beginning of August gets you nowhere fast. This is a real scare whether you want to admit it or not. This team is dying fast. "But we got pitching so we'll always be there." My ass. Tell me how many games you can win without scoring runs. This pitching staff hasn't been great the past month, especially the overrated Buehrle(overrated around these parts). The "smartball" offense is looking horrible. This year's team offensively is no different from last year's. We're all swinging for the fences. Wait, I just noticed there is a difference. We have guys worse at swinging for the fences than in year's past. Maybe that's why we aren't scoring. Gimme back Carlos Lee anyday(and no this isn't hindsight either). There's only maybe 3 guys I'd take from this year's team and I would replace the rest with last year's team(offensively). PK is the only hot one right now, and even at that, he's going to cool down drastically again. I know there are tons of crappy posters who think this thread is garbage, should be locked or whatever. I say F U to them. They even know the lead isn't safe, even though it's still at 7 games. I'd like to see those prospects that everyone keeps talking about, help us now, not in 10 years. Hey, but "we still have the best team"...oh wait, we don't.
  16. Didn't Nevin lose his no trade rights when he got traded from the Padres to the Rangers??
  17. Know what, f*** this board. You can't stand to have anyone on the team criticized. f*** it. I'll find another board.
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) LOL, what happened to Mulder and Garland? read the part where I said several others. I'm not going to waste my whole time typing it. But yes Garland, Mulder, Hudson and Harden and Zito over Buehrle.
  19. I would like to see him get benched for it, but he is our only hitter who's doing anything relevant this month so you have to play him.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:34 AM) Nope, Ozzie took gooch out to get Blum in. Why sit one of our best hitters against a guy he kills. f***ing Dumb. But the dumbass Uribe and captain hitless Crede play day in and day out. I agree very dumb move. Shouldn't be stacking your team with your worst hitters to get them PT. I'd like to see Crede take the day off.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:17 AM) I don't know what it is lately, but everything this guy has said about the Sox lately has been in the worst possible light... Buehrle is overrated, Rowand isn't that great in CF, the Sox won't make the playoffs... etc. I won't worry too much about what he has to say IMO. It looks like he is just trying to stir the pot. 1)Buehrle is overrated on these boards. Some people saying they wouldn't take a pitcher over him and some saying he's the best young pitcher in the leagues. Um no, he's a nice pitcher, but I'd happily take Oswalt, Clemens, Pettite, Peavy, Santana, Perez(when healthy), F. Hernandez, Dontrelle, Bartolo and several others over him. 2)I'm sorry, but I missed the email message that said I had to slurp down Arow upon joining this site. I said he's a nice CF and very good defensively. I didn't say he sucks in any way, did I? QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) Oops I almost missed, Hawk needs to be fired... 3)Hawk needs to retire. He also needs to apologize for his statements on Mariotti yesterday. That's stirring the pot. The article Mariotti wrote had nothing to do with Hawk whatsoever and several other columnists and media outlets felt the same way as Mariotti, but I didn't see Hawk rip them. It's not stirring the pot, it's calling it like it is which apparently most people at Soxtalk hate to hear. Lemme guess the response, "We have the best record in the majors so STFU."...Yeah, keep holding onto that little record excuse, see what that buys you in the playoffs.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) Yes, 10 more losses or Sox wins and they are officially done when it comes to winning the division this year. What about the Indians. Karma's a b****. If we were to pull a choke job, I'd like to see what all these posters say then who are making these threads. It's not over til it's over.
  23. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Ok, Mr. Drew Bledsoe/Vinny Testeverde/Quincy Carter. What would you suggest? Thomas Jones can hold down the fort just fine; but, Hutchinson (as you know) is a big stiff. We need a QB. Bears fans wish they could have either Bledsoe, Testeverder or Carter at this moment.
  24. I see nothing wrong with Hernandez at two. Didn't BA compare Young to Manny and Vlad?? Each are damn good.
