Ponson Released
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Just read it on ESPN's Transactions page. Now that's what I call screwing the pooch. You know the GMs were sitting around waiting to cut him AFTER September 1st to really kick him out the door. Now no contending team can have him on their post-season roster (not that they would anyway). Padres still probably would've picked him up.

sox, cubs talking today?
Wasn't Kenny saying that once they got Frank back(early in the season) that, that would be the big boost to the lineup needed??
-
sox, cubs talking today?
Bruce Levine on the Score is reporting that Ken Griffey Jr...aww hell, way too easy.

how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
QUOTE(Chifananthony @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) I think everyone here would be back on the bandwagon. Why is it so terrible to criticize your teem when they have been underperforming, and to point out flaws in the team's game. It seems that once u do that u r no longer a fan. Thats how they treat people at WSI. Its hypocritical to attack flub fans when they think there team is going to the playoffs when they are 8 games out, but yet when a sox fan takes a realistic look at their playoff chances they are not true fans. It doesnt make sense. I was about to post something to that extent. This place has slowly become WSI. I remember when I first joined, you were able to criticize or critique the team and not catch any s*** for it. It would actually start up a good convo. Now if you critique the team, you get blasted as if you're visiting WSI.

BRING BACK THE JOE CREDE BANNER
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) I took it down because it's winning streak came to an end. Seems like a good enough reason. I brought back the Crede sig. Hopefully that helps too.

My first attempt at making a wallpaper
After all the criticsm or critiquing is a better word, I think he did a nice job for his first ever wallpaper.

Once and for all
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) I would love it if you linked me to a post of yours regarding last night's W. Whoa whoa whoa, the question asked was when was the last day I posted on the day of a White Sox winner. I said last time they won(which was yesterday). I never said my posts were about the win.

how we learned to stop worrying and love fathom
I dont know if this is right, but I remember him saying he wasn't going to sign anyone anymore(before the season started) so in midseason, if the White Sox needed a piece or two, they would have the financial flexibility to not worry about it. This team has needed a piece or two on the offensive end. Blum was not the answer.

Once and for all
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) What is, never, Alex. What is, the last time they won, WHarris1. Sorry, but train gets the correct answer and gets to pick the next topic.

Should you get a car on your 16th birthday?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) I worked for a little fast-food restaurant near my block earlier this year and it was fun. I worked with all of my friends. Time of my life. I'll work at Burger King, right next to 2 of my friends who work at KFc and across from my fest friend who works at McDonalds. We meet up after work and chill. Good times... chill at the White Castle in which none of you guys could get discounts probably.

Should you get a car on your 16th birthday?
You shouldn't get one. You should have to earn a used car.

Once and for all
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) Check the run differential in the injun games with the sox. If you think by our record we beat them down. I suggest you look again. The only convincing wins happend in that last 4 game sweep. We havent hit besides 2 games yesterday in a month. The indians have a great bullpen and good pitching. But yeah I can see how we are just going to beat the crap out of them.

Peter Warrick released by Bengals.
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Can't hold it in anymore. All this Price talk is making me feel all warm inside. The Bills traded him...he did not sign with Atlanta. Buffalo got a 1st round pick...that being Willis McGahee. Sure 2003 blew ass...the team was mediocre, and I was left wondering if I liked the pick or not. In hindsight...yeah, it was decent. Okay, essentially a sign and trade, but did Price get to pick his team and get a new contract? If you want to get all technical, well that's what happened. Bears need one of these guys. And isn't Ogunleye a Rosenhaus client?

According to Bruuuce Levine
So according to what Bruce Levine said, I could start ordering my Ken Griffey Jr. jersey?
-
Our lead is down to 6.5 games.
But guys, this team has chemistry!!!
-
Peter Warrick released by Bengals.
Just my guess, but I think Warrick might just sit out the year since he doesn't feel like rushing his come back if he doesn't have a team. I would definately look at him or Price. I think Price would be a borderline all-star again if he was a #2 WR. He's clearly not a #1 and I thought that to myself when ATL signed him.

Rekindled interest
Never collected baseball cards. I do got an 2 Allen Iverson rookie cards, 2 Kobe Bryant rookie cards, a Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, Gary Payton and Grant Hill rookie cards as well as many others.
-
Mark Bellhorn
That would be funny if he beats the Red Sox in the playoffs.
-
Here's what they are saying
Signed up. Basically saying we're desperate and that if we really want Griffey, KW would make it happen.

White Sox could be interested
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Isnt AJ a UFA? Can someone find me a link to his status?? With the $$$ thing, like I have said earlier in threads, NO ONE in Sox management knew they were going to have 20+ sellouts this year. Who knows how many games we will for the playoffs(if we get there )and I would have to expect a little increase in ticket sales. Moreover, if the Sox were to get bumped out in the 1st round pretty easy, which could happen very easily, I am truly confident in Ownership and KW that they would try to put us over the top for 2006 after a very dissipointing 2005 season(if we got knocked out 1st round.) I think all we have to do is offer him arbitration. I know that he's ours no matter what for next year and if the White Sox and AJ don't agree to a new deal, then he'll make like 2 or 3 million next year.

He's better than Uribe no doubt, but do you bat him 2nd and have Iguchi bat 5th? I wouldn't want Iguchi or Furcal batting at the bottom of the order. Iguchi also was a power hitter in Japan. Kind of the Carlos Beltran in Japan. I'd say the 3 slot is still good for him because he still could move runners over and he could hit for more power. I say we trade for Griffey first in the offseason if possible.

AND THAT'S ANOTHER WHITE SOX LOSER!!!
Apparently, I've heard that most of you guys who had been giving me s*** are now starting to realize I was right. Starting to realize that, "Best team in baseball!" in the beginning of August gets you nowhere fast. This is a real scare whether you want to admit it or not. This team is dying fast. "But we got pitching so we'll always be there." My ass. Tell me how many games you can win without scoring runs. This pitching staff hasn't been great the past month, especially the overrated Buehrle(overrated around these parts). The "smartball" offense is looking horrible. This year's team offensively is no different from last year's. We're all swinging for the fences. Wait, I just noticed there is a difference. We have guys worse at swinging for the fences than in year's past. Maybe that's why we aren't scoring. Gimme back Carlos Lee anyday(and no this isn't hindsight either). There's only maybe 3 guys I'd take from this year's team and I would replace the rest with last year's team(offensively). PK is the only hot one right now, and even at that, he's going to cool down drastically again. I know there are tons of crappy posters who think this thread is garbage, should be locked or whatever. I say F U to them. They even know the lead isn't safe, even though it's still at 7 games. I'd like to see those prospects that everyone keeps talking about, help us now, not in 10 years. Hey, but "we still have the best team"...oh wait, we don't.

Phil Nevin
Didn't Nevin lose his no trade rights when he got traded from the Padres to the Rangers??

"The" Griffey Rumor
Know what, f*** this board. You can't stand to have anyone on the team criticized. f*** it. I'll find another board.
