  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) I don't see Vince Young making it through the rest of this season healthy. He got the piss beat out of him against a very good OSU defense and if he continues to run like he's currently doing, he's going to take a seriously beating from other teams as well. Hell, near the end of the OSU game he was feeling dizzy from all the hits he had taken, I see him getting a concussion or other serious injury somewhere around game 6 or 7. That can't help his NFL status. He felt dizzy, that's true. Dizzy enough to not be able to keep his poise or lead his team to a comeback victory? Nope. Any football player after any game is hurting. That's the nature of the beast. That's why they don't play games every other day. He'll make it through the whole season. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) Vince Young wont be an NFL QB... his arm strength isnt that great and he isnt michael vick on the ground to make up for his lack of passing skills. If he is in the NFL it will be as a converted WR. Leinart should be a very good QB in the NFL but idonno if I want to take a chance/waste a pick on another QB. Would be really cool if we could trade for Bree's this off-season... I dont think the chargers will trade Rivers and he has to start somewhere next season. Care to make a wager that he'll be a drafted a QB and play QB in the NFL? His arm strength is pretty damn good. His accuracy is arguably better than Vick's and his and Vick's speed is the same. It was even said in the OSU/Texas telecast on ABC. The thing Young doesn't have that Vick has is the incredible athleticism. I'm not talking about speed, but the flips and the ability to make people miss. That's why Young won't be a WR in the league. He has speed and all that, but he doesn't have the crafty moves. As far as Brees, I don't see the Bears getting him. They'll either draft a QB, sign one through FA or keep Orton. I'm going with the latter.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) If that's? What are you talking about? This weekend? Cause that would be such a good representation of what they are. Let's check the ERA of our staff the past 30 days. Garland: 4.35 Buehrle: 3.86 Garcia: 4.32 Hernandez: 6.59 Contreras: 2.72 Care to rethink that statement because the only dominating one I see in there is Count. Our 2nd best pitcher can't do anything against elite teams. Hernandez has been sucking majorly. Garland and Garcia are nothing better than mediocre. And remember, this is the last 30 days, not just this month.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) There's what, 20 games left, right? Let's say Cleveland plays .750 ball, which is pretty possible. They play Oakland for three, and us for six. Then, the rest is bleh. We'd have to play .500 to make the playoffs. If this team can't play .500, with seven games left against KC/Detroit, and six left against Minny -- then man... there won't be a paper bag big enough for White Sox fandom. BTW -- don't quote me on it, but I don't think we draw Santana for next weekend's series at the Dome. So, there's your good news of the day. So who does Buehrle choke against next week then?

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) I believe a good director can make a good movie out of a bad script, and vice versa. Yup. I thought of this too.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:15 PM) CWS.... We don't agree often, but I definitely think we need to move Uribe up in the order. Honestly, what the f*** do we have to lose right now? Our offense has struggled for so long, changes need to be made. I'd have no problem with Uribe in the 3rd spot, and PK in the 4th spot. Against a righty, Rowand needs to be near the bottom of the order. What I don't understand is why we seem to promote guys higher in the order the more they struggle. Also, why not give someone like Borchard a chance to get hot and spark the offense? The thing is, we need some people to step up and carry this offense like PK and Uribe have been doing. Dye has left a ton of guys on base lately. I wouldn't mind Borchard subbing in alot more for Dye & Rowand. Get Anderson in there at times too.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) I'm just relaying directly what I heard from a major NFL agent about those guys. Young has a very bad release, and NFL scouts think he might end up being made a WR in the NFL. It's funny, but the name I've heard Leinart compared to is Rex Grossman. I actually like Leinart though, and would take him this second over Kyle Orton. Young's arm slot looks okay with me. I think he would make an exceptional QB in the league and that would be his best position. Grossman isn't that bad except for the fact that he can't stay on the field.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) I'll feel a lot more comfortable about the situation as a whole if McCarthy is put in a rotation. And this coming from an El Duque fan. He needs to be put in the rotation. Uribe NEEDS to be put lower in the order. I agree on El Duque. I'm a big fan of him, but he just doesn't have it. Stick McCarthy in there and save Duque if anything for the playoffs so his arm doesn't fall off. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) Don't you mean up in the order for Uribe? I'm still not sure why in the world we'd put Rowand in the 3rd spot against righties. At this point, the whole offense is just in a state of disarray. And yeah, I'm sure he meant higher in the order for Uribe. Honestly, I would look to shake things up and things would go like this: LF-Podsednik SS-Uribe 2B-Iguchi 1B-Konerko DH-Everett RF-Dye CF-Rowand(Probably one of the biggest declines from last year to this year) C-Pierzynski 3B-Crede Uribe is hot and we should see what Iguchi could do. Uribe's hits usually are opposite field and he looks like he's found a great swing. Iguchi would probably be better as a freeswinger. Let him get on base and move runners over as a 3 hole hitter.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) Vince Young is not an NFL QB. Leinart is not very highly regarded among all NFL scouts, as some think he's a product of the USC offense. Vince Young most definately is an NFL QB. He has as much if not more poise than Orton. The guy is a double threat. Great arm strength and accuracy is supposed to be his weakness, but even that is not as bad as Vick's. Young is a gamechanger who adds a different dimension to his team. He's most definately an NFL QB. I could understand if you don't like the running QB mold, but Young will be a stud. Leinart would be really good running a pro-style offense. At first, I thought he simply was a product of his system, but there's a reason that if he came out this past year he would've been the #1 pick in the NFL. The right scouts obviously think highly of him.
  9. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) Yes it does. We still have a dominating starting rotation and solid bullpen. If that's a dominating Starting Rotation, we're sure as hell in trouble.
  10. This team doesn't need O-Lineman. They have enough already. Garza is really good at plowing guys to make holes for the run game. It seems that our team need to gel together better as a unit for the run blocking scheme. We don't need to waste a pick on that though. It needs offensive skilled position players. Give me a stud WR or TE or QB. Get Vince Young, Leinart or Cook if there a way to get either of them.
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Here's the thing, after tonight, the first six batters in their lineup will have a batting average right at or above our leading hitter. And every single one of them has a better slugging percentage. The Indians have a good ability to win games two ways, we for the most part can win games only on the strength of our pitching. And that strength doesn't look so strong anymore.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) And the Sox are playing .500 since August and the Indians have benn very good. What the f*** is your point? The still aren't in the lead, and still do not have control of the AL Central let alone the AL Wild card. Sheesh, my ignore lists grows more and more everyday with these obnoxious pessimists whom would rather be correct than see the Sox win. Give it a rest. No one said they rather see the Sox struggle. Well except for that one guy who said he rather not have us make the playoffs. We hate being right as well. You also have to understand that the pessimists have every right to be pessimistic as the optimists have to be optimistic. It swings both ways pal. It's bulls*** how everyone was making threads basically insulting teams that weren't even done yet with a good month and a half to go(some more than that).
  13. 10-0 and they're not even trying against a team we struggled against. 5.5 games, here we come. One way trip to Choke City. All aboard?!!
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) I thought I was told not to worry, the Indians would cool off? They've now won 19 of their last 22 games. Don't worry, they'll cool off. They have too.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) This is comical. We're in deep trouble unless this club finds its balls and reverts to its winning ways of September. Look at Cleveland--taking extra bases, having fun, hitting at all fields and not missing meatballs. Sounds like a certain team we knew from a few months ago. The Red Sox?
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) :headshake It's true. Ozzie has to be dead at the bottom when it comes to managerial decisions made.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) We've agreed to disagree on this. Don't think this last week of awful attendance didn't give JR every excuse possible to not raise payroll this offseason. Very true. I don't even think we raised 30,000 for any game in this series and I distinctly remember being told that we would definately see over 32,000 every game this series because it was a good club. Sox fans have stopped showing up for whatever reason. Not a great reason to raise payroll more than 5 million.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) Kind of like Tony Pena. Another manager who motivated his team into a big lead, who crumbled at the end and wound up in third. Thank god we had such a lead. Yep. I've been saying that for some time. He should be a bench coach. Honestly, I rather take Baker over him. Baker knows how to manage talent. When he has none, he struggles(or injuries). Ozzie could have Manny Ramirez and he'll bench him every other day. Ozzie should just be a bench coach or go back to 3rd base. Gimme Dusty over him any day of the week. It's not like he has a bigger mouth than Ozzie. BTW, put me in Jenks' fanclub.
  19. Told most of you guys that we shouldn't be making stupidass elimination threads, especially prematurely. Now it's going to look so f***ing stupid. Respect all teams until they're mathematically out of it. Something lots of Sox fans on here didn't do.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Yup I saw that too. If they collapse, a lot of people in the sox organization should be fired. They would of set this organization back a while. We will be a joke. That's why I think it was kind of premature to give Ozzie that 3 year deal. Wait until the whole season is over to see what he does. I've already said, I think Ozzie is a really crappy manager, but a great motivator and intangibles type of guy.
  21. Duque should be the one piggybacking McCarthy, not the other way around.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) This is a bit off topic but I don't see a general NFL thread... How the Hell is San Francisco beating up on St. Louis? I don't know either. STL's offense was supposed to be great this year again with Kevin Curtis supposedly becoming the next Brandon Stokely. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) And then you're wrong again. You said Tillman had Moss the whole game when in fact Azumah had him man-on-man a few times when Moss was put in the slot. Azumah didn't look good today, it seems he's not fully back from his hip surgery. Azumah was put on him like 3 times today. Got burned once. Tillman was on him the rest of the game. Azumah's burnings came from Thrash for the most part.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) WRONG. It was Azumah he beat. Moss set up in the slot on the right side, Azumah who was playing nickle today took him. Azumah was playing man coverage on Moss and never turned around to find the ball. Which resulted in a 52 yard completion. So Moss beat Azumah not Tillman. I'm not talking about a single play. I'm talking about throughout the game.
  24. I heard about all of this. Very generous. He truly is a nice guy.
  25. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) But Ozzie might interpret this as being able to play Timo since he practically plays as often as a starter For once this season, that wouldn't be a bad thing.
