  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) So how long until the "Decline" thread makes a reappearence? It shouldn't. He's been this type of pitcher for some time.
  2. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) still the best pitcher in Chicago and one of the best in the AL. My god 2 months ago we were saying Buehrle was god. Now he is garbage. No he was arguably(Garland could have a case) the best pitcher in the 1st half in Chicago. Now he's gone to s***. Right now, I'd take Contreras in a head-to-head matchup against Buehrle. And I actually like Buehrle alot. One of my favorite players on the team because he speaks his mind.
  3. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) apparently you can drop the ball and still make outs now Yeah, he didn't have control of that at all. To me, that's a no out.
  4. Bench all these f***ers minus Uribe and Pods tommorow. All of them did better than the starters and looked way more patient at the plate. Send a message tommorow that you won't tolerate poor offense or poor play. At least it gives me something to look foward to.
  5. Fluke simply because I don't think he'll repeat it next year.
  6. I think it's time to get some reserves some playing time. We ain't coming back in this one. Ozzie needs to stop playing his bench all the f***ing time too. This is the stretch run. This is when you want to wrap everything up.
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Rubber match only happens when both teams have one a game. Should've put that in green cas I was being sarcastic. Eh well, bad attempt. Time to workout or something.
  8. So who's going in the rubber match tommorow?
  9. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Why so? Don't aces go through bad times?? Sheesh A pitcher pitches poorly for a couple of starts and here come the polls and threads full of Panic. Sheesh Enjoy the damn season and stop complaining There's a difference between being in a bad time and losing against every team. Buehrle's bad times seem to happen when he faces the better ballclubs. I think there is a direct correlation. It's not a bad time for Buehrle, he's simply getting beat by and good club he faces. He feasts on the Royals and Tigers of the MLB, but I wouldn't feel to confident in him facing guys like Vlad in the playoffs.
  10. Well that sucks. I don't see us coming back in this one.
  11. Not good when you give up a hit on an 0-2 count.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Good for you guys. Then, the White Sox shouldn't pitch Buehrle at all in the playoffs 'cause he'll get his ass handed to him if he does. Can you imagine the b****ING on this site if Buehrle doesn't pitch in the playoffs? (assuming they make it) Really wouldn't care. If we lose, the difference would be him getting the losses instead of someone else.
  13. Pods has to be the worst guy when it comes to running after the baseball. He runs like something is stuck up his ass and it doesn't look like he runs full speed ahead anymore.
  14. I guess that's why A-Row doesn't bat 3rd anymore.
  15. Walked in a run on a close call. I'll take it.
  16. I liked the original with the baby blue you used.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) BS. He just happens to have a bad game or he struggles whenever he's up against a playoff-caliber team. There's no way that Mark Buehrle is an ace. Aces beat the best teams, Mark Buehrle doesn't. I'm sure he'll win his next few starts against the Royals, Tigers, _____ garbage team, and then everyone will be happy and say, "See, that's our ace!" Then, he'll get destroyed by a good team in the playoffs...and he was just struggling at the time. My thoughts exactly.
  18. I didn't know he was coming back today. Greatness is back at 3rd.
  19. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) Mark Buehrle has balls guys. I'm not concerned about him AT ALL. However I would like to see Brandon McCarthy make some starts for Buehrle before the end of the year. It would be a great idea to get our 4 guys a rest before going into the post-season. PS What is everyone's take on Contreras pitching in October? I'd like to see him do it if he continues what he's doing now. Honestly, when he's on, I think he's our best pitcher. He has filthy stuff. He could shut down everyone when he's on. The Yankees, Red Sox, anyone.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) If you look at the numbers, Contreras and Garcia are now have almost identical seasons. Contreras had a few tough luck no decisions, and was left in a little long and gave up some meaningless runs in other starts, or his stats and recent hot streak would make him a serious candidate to open the playoffs. I think Buerhle will pitch better in his next few starts, but if not, you can't have him your #1 starter in the playoffs. I agree. Last night's performance(man, now I know how the green seats are going to look like) just continues to prove my theory right(that I was bashed for) that Buehrle just can't play well against good teams and he can't win in big games. Honestly, when Contreras is on, I think he has a better chance than Buehrle. Same goes with Garland and Freddy. Buehrle is a guy who just really feasts on mediocre teams. Not a stopper which an ace usually is. Like I've been saying, "Buehrle is not an ace." For the other guys I mentioned, they don't lose just because they're facing a good team. When they lose, it's because they just lose.
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Where did I say it'd be close to 3 million? Point that out to me. It's going to be awfully hard to find, because I didn't. I just expect attendance to keep climbing. You're expecting huge jumps overnight; it doesn't happen like that. Well then what? 2.5 million. Honestly, I think those numbers are a failure for the best team in baseball(as so many of you guys refer to it) and I think those numbers are a failure for a WS winning team, especially in the 3rd largest market. I know it's not popular opinion, but it's the truth. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) the sox are never going to be the cubs, get over it people. We're going to average right around 30k this season and that's fine with me. We're not one of the top tier baseball organizations in the league, why do people expect that? Yes, we're in the 3rd biggest city int he world, but we also split the city with another team that like it or not, is more popular. nitetrain never fails to make ridiculous statements, hello ignore button. That whole Cubs BS has gotten out of hand. Again, if they can't reach the numbers the Cubs reach(even after they've proven they can back in the day) then it is time to move. This is a winning team and they deserve better numbers than they got in this series. I don't care if they were playing the Royals. It's the stretch run. Bandwagon fans(described here) are fans who go to games when a club is winning and rooting for that club. Looks like we can't even bandwagon right because we don't have anyone going to the games in Sept for I repeat the 30th consecutive time, "best team in baseball." Obviously, some of our baseball players feel that way too. Anyways have fun hitting the ignore button. I guess you can't stand opposing viewpoints.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Attendance has improved immensely. It all comes down to season ticket holders, honestly. Attendance isn't going to increase by a million over night or in one year, expecting it to is simply ignorant. So you're saying next year attendace will be near 3 million(give or take 100,000)? I highly doubt that. I think even if the White Sox were to win 2 world series in a row, they wouldn't reach 3 million.
  23. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly :rolly I guess the Brewers, Tigers, A's, Twins, D-Backs, Reds, Blue Jays, Rockies, Indians, Pirates, Marlins, Royals and Devil Rays should ALL move too, since they all have worse attendance records than the Sox. GMAFB. All those towns have proven(well minus TB, FLA, & MIN) that if they win, they'll get really really nice crowds. Better than ours, that's for sure. It's a sad day when you're cheering that we broke 2 million. Best teams in baseball usually hit 3 million. Cubs do and I think they even have a smaller stadium than us. It's just something to consider for them. If White Sox fans in the City of Chicago can't afford the games, it's time to look elsewhere. I know that's not the popular opinion, but I rather watch my favorite team succeed(on the field and off) then watch a sea of blue.
