  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) If he says he's healthy and he's not, what's the difference between that and Marte other than Freddy drinks beers with Ozzie? Its time to step up, not look for reasons to bail. If he's hurt its not that bad right now. His concentration is lacking however. The curious thing to me is Ozzie said he talked to him, but now needs Cooper to talk to him. Either Ozzie doesn't trust what Freddy told him or he didn't answer his questions. How is bailing if he legitimately is injured? This guy had the same problem last year. My fear is that most of the rotations arms are about to fall off. Maybe that's a reason Buehrle has tailed off badly. Maybe he needs rest. Marte and Garcia are way different situations.
  2. Things Buehrle is not: Ace Stopper Things that Buehrle is: A guy who could win in low pressure situations A guy who feasts on weak teams Still a nice #3 pitcher on this staff
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Ozzie says he trusts his players. He said he talked to Garcia and is going to have Cooper talk to Garcia. If he talked to him and said he was hurt or tired, why would Cooper have to talk to him? Seems goofy to me. Freddy is supposed to be a big game pitcher, and now he may be opting out of a start at the most critical part of this season? Maybe there's room on Marte's plane for him. I think this team is in freefall, even Ozzie's buddies are starting to bail. So you rather have Freddy keep saying he's healthy and get shalacked instead of saying the truth? Rest him and hope you make the playoffs.
  4. Willie Harris dominates on offense as always and PK can't drive him in as always.
  5. So when does Willie finally replace Iguchi permanantly in the lineup??
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) In fact, to lighten up the mood here, I think were gonna start putting up some more light hearted banners. This first one is a masterpiece made by Greasy. TIMO 4 MVP. He better play everyday.
  7. Maybe when they show the White Soxon ESPN at home, we'll have a packed house.
  8. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) I'm sorry guys, I didn't know my mood was affecting the entire board. Just do like I do, bury your head in the sand until October 2nd and be proud we backed into the playoffs :-). Assuming we made it there. Honestly, I was going to buy playoff tickets today at noon. That plan is no longer in action. I think it'll jinx the team even more(if possible). Some people don't believe in jinxes, but after observations of things that are said on this board correlating with what goes on the field, I'm weary.
  9. Frank as a bench coach? Maybe. Frank as a hitting coach? Maybe. Frank as an enforcer? Hell yes.
  10. *cracks open window and gets one foot on the ledge*
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Guess he will be buying inflated ones off ebay. My pick for the game one start is looking better every day IMO. Last night, 6th inning, 2k's back to back, man that was a different pitcher. Fastball, fastball, fastball, curve, fastball, fork Damn right. I don't know how you start Buehrle who's been sucked in big games or against good teams. Contreras looks the best and if he continues, he should start Game 1.
  12. Yeah, he had a revival this year. Hopefully his family member recovers soon.
  13. QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) I see we get Froemming's crew, but our favorite guy must be on vacation. Chicago White Sox Scott Podsednik LF .288 Tadahito Iguchi 2B .278 Paul Konerko 1B .280 Carl Everett DH .253 Aaron Rowand CF .275 Jermaine Dye RF .269 A.J. Pierzynski C .257 Juan Uribe SS .262 Joe Crede 3B .237 Jose Contreras P (11-7 3.88) Kansas City Royals Chip Ambres CF .255 Terrence Long LF .276 Mike Sweeney DH .294 Matt Stairs 1B .274 Emil Brown RF .284 Mark Teahen 3B .239 Angel Berroa SS .263 John Buck C .229 Andres Blanco 2B .222 Mike Wood P (4-6 3.68) Umpires: HP: Mike Winters 1B: Adam Dowdy 2B: Jerry Meals 3B: Bruce Froemming Ozzie starting the starters for a game in the stretch run? Maybe he did clear his head alot down in FLA.
  14. I don't see BMac replacing anyone unless there's an injury. That's the only way he's getting on. Or if Damaso flat out says, "F you, you piece of Venezuelan chit"
  15. I guarenetee you that Marte makes the playoff roster.
  16. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) 1) Sirotka 2) Baldwin 3) Parque 4) Eldred Can Parque start Game 1?
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) thats right, I voted for Contreras. Thats right. Go with the hot hand, and the potentialy dominating stuff. Im going with the splitter, the forball, the change, the Sidearm fastball, the power. im hoping for a cold day, a day where the bats dont come alive. Where the batters are caught between mid-90's fastballs and fluttering forkballs. Where a giant immigrant shuts down the other team and sets the tone for the series. I voted for Jose Me too.
  18. This board is housing a fugitive. Isn't that a federal offense?
  19. I have had T-Mobile and Verizon. For me(I live in the basement) T-Mobile works best for me. With my Verizon phone, I got no type of reception in the basement. With T-Mobile, I usually get 3 bars. My sister has had Nextel/Sprint(when they were seperate and now). I say beforehand they were overpriced and Sprint really had crappy reception(dropped calls all the time) as few as 3 years ago, but now with them and Nextel, they have good reception. They're still overpriced IMHO though. Check out deals on amazon.com. I got my Motorola a630 for -$50 with new activation. And it allows me to check emails from Pop clients.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) McCarthy is 21. Small is in his mid-30s. When one guy continues to do what he's been doing the past two years (minus two months or so), yes, there's reason for optimism. When the other guy is pitching about two ERA points better then his career line, at the age of what, 33 (?), yeah, that's a little odd. I was responding to you saying that he's proven he can be a capable AL starter, which isn't true... Using that logic, we shouldn't have gotten Podsednik considering he broke into the majors late? QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Just something I ran across today, 4 of our starters are in the top 15 in the AL in terms of ERA+. That is pretty damn impressive. Add a McCarthy that actually throws a changeup to that and you have the best starting rotation in the leauge. I will give you that they've underperformed since the break though. Well yeah. Look, I really have no problems with our rotation. The season usually goes like this for pitchers: Either you get off to a hot start and reach a tiring point in which you need offense to support you or you start off sluggish and turn it on for the rest of the year. We got off to a hot start. It's time for our offense to carry us and it really hasn't done that. We've came out bad against good ballclubs. This pitching would've been perfect with last year's offense with Pierzynski replacing last year's C and Iguchi replacing Valentin/Harris.
  21. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Well he is what he is and he's on our team. He should be in and considered a member of our starting rotation at this point in the season but whether or not that happens is up to Ozzie. Well he should be is different than he is. Trust me. I'm a duque fan and know he has nothing right now and should be switching roles with McCarthy, but that isn't what happened. Can't count a guy in the rotation who isn't there because Ozzie is not the brightest bulb. No hard feelings though. Just a nice debate.
  22. I can't help but laugh. I'm glad you had such a great day.
  23. Honestly, I'd take Lloyd McLendon(a guy with fire, and is known for smarts) over Ozzie. I like fathom want the same thing in a manager. I know we won't ever get a Bobby Cox, but I want a guy who knows what he's doing. Give me Torre, give me LaRussa, give me McLendon, Leyland, Scosia, Tracy, Brenly, Howe, Randolph, Pinella, (does the list need to go further for me to get the point through? hope not).
  24. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Roger Clemens' ERA for the last 5 starts is 4.45. He's not a dominant pitcher I guess. Replace El Duque with McCarthy because we have no reason not to believe that the McCarthy with the major league change up isn't a better pitcher at this time. I said rotation. McCarthy isn't in our rotation last time I checked. Small's ERA so far is 2.82 the whole year. It's 3.00 the last 30 days. That's pretty damn good. He would be the 2nd best pitcher on this staff currently. So yes, we should find a way to get him on our team. He's pitched 51.0 innings. That's about 7 games worth of starts. Was our staff dominating earlier in the year? Yeah. Is it dominating now during the stretch run? Hell no and it hasn't been for the most part after the AS break.
